Anker Radio

Anker Radio, a British radio station, was born out of a casual conversation over coffee in 1976 and finally came to life in 1980. It was initially set up as the Nuneaton Area Hospital Broadcasting Service and was renamed Anker Radio, a name that still stands today​. Anker Radio, a vibrant and integral part of the George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton, broadcasts live and online 24/7, 365 days a year, providing a wide range of personal yet professional programming output​​. This station was one of the first hospital radio stations in the UK, and it has been a starting place for many big names in radio broadcasting today​. From its humble beginnings, Anker Radio has played a crucial role in not only entertaining the patients of the George Eliot Hospital but also reaching out to staff, visitors, and a wider audience over time. The station has had an impact on the local community through outside broadcasts, supporting local events, and serving as a public address system to local events​​. As of 2020, the original charity \'Nuneaton Area Hospital Broadcasting Service\' ceased to exist, and was replaced by a new charity which gives Anker Radio greater flexibility in what it can do and how it operates. The new charity bears the name \'Anker Radio\' and has a new charity number 1180762​​.
