88.3 Centreforce

88.3 Centreforce, also known as Centreforce Radio, is a former pirate radio station that now legally broadcasts to London, North West England, and North Wales on DAB radio. The station first broadcasted on 8 May 1989 from Newham, East London, and quickly became a pivotal part of the rave scene, promoting major M25 raves such as Genesis, Energy, Sunrise, and Biology. It was set up by Andy Swallow, who also co-ran the Echoes nightclub in Bow, East London, and was instrumental during the Second Summer of Love period of acid house and rave music culture in the UK​​. Centreforce made a brief return to the airwaves in 2007-2008 on 88.4FM, teaming up with Time 107.5, a local legal radio station based in Romford, East London. The station continued to produce the weekend output on Time 107.5 as Centreforce Sessions until 2012​​. In 2017, Centreforce returned once again, hosting weekly shows online before being awarded a license to broadcast to London on DAB in December of that year​​.
