  • Health Interview - World No Alcohol Day 2026 01.10.2026 12min
As Saint Lucia joins the global community in observing World No Alcohol Day on Friday, October 2, 2026, the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Nutrition is calling on citizens to take a closer look at their relationship with alcohol and consider what life, celebration and connection can look like without it. Observed this year under the theme “Alcohol and Me,” the initiative encourages every Saint Lucian to pause, reflect and honestly assess the role alcohol plays in their daily lives, social interactions and celebrations. In a country where alcohol is often part of limes, village fêtes, family gatherings and weekend relaxation, the observance seeks to create space for a national conversation about alcohol use without blame, stigma or shame. Saint Lucia continues to record high levels of alcohol consumption on a per-capita basis within the region, making awareness and reflection an important part of the country's broader public-health efforts. Through this year's observance, the Ministry is encouraging individuals, families, communities and social groups to use October 2 as an opportunity to try alcohol-free alternatives, start conversations about responsible choices and recognize that socializing and celebrating do not have to center on alcohol.
