Tyler Ryals couldn't get into the military, so at 18 years old he became a correctional officer in the Georgia state prison system. He quickly worked his way up, becoming one of the youngest CERT team commanders and sergeants in the system. Over nearly 10 years, he worked inside some of Georgia's most violent maximum-security prisons and witnessed firsthand how severe staffing shortages put both officers and inmates at risk. • I Was One of Rikers Island's Youngest Captains — Here's Why I Left | James Kearney 23.09.2026 1h 46min
James Kearney grew up in New York City as the son of a Rikers Island correctional officer. He originally wanted to become a teacher, but ultimately followed in his father's footsteps and joined the New York City Department of Correction in the late 1990s. By his third year on the job, he had become one of the youngest captains in Rikers Island history. But stepping into leadership exposed him to a side of the system he never expected — inexperienced people being placed in positions they weren't prepared for, and a culture that didn't always welcome those who challenged it. When James tried to address what he was seeing, he says he experienced the full weight of institutional retaliation. Less than a decade into his career, an injury on the job ultimately led to his medical retirement. _____________________________________________ Thank you to CASH APP, AG1, & HUNGRYROOT for sponsoring this episode: Cash App: Download Cash App Today: https://click.cash.app/ui6m/6pao71et #CashAppPod _____________________________________________ Cash App is a financial services platform, not a bank. • I Was a Hells Angel for 10 Years — Here's Why I Finally Walked Away | George "Joby" Walters 22.09.2026 2h
George "Joby" Walters grew up in Ohio, joined the Army, and developed a passion for mechanics and motorcycles before joining the Avengers Motorcycle Club in Alabama. After an injury pushed him away from the club, he eventually landed in Arizona, where he patched into the Hells Angels in the late 1990s and became close personal friends with the legendary Sonny Barger. Over the next decade, Joby found himself in the middle of violent conflicts with rival clubs including the Mongols and Vagos and was present at the infamous Harrah's Casino riot in Laughlin, Nevada, on April 27, 2002, when the Hells Angels and Mongols clashed in one of the most notorious biker confrontations in American history. In the aftermath, he went on the run to Mexico, eventually took a plea deal that sent him to prison, and ultimately made the decision to walk away from the Hells Angels after 10 years. Now, Joby is telling the complete story of what life inside one of the world's most notorious motorcycle clubs was really like — from brotherhood and loyalty to violence, prison, and what it took to finally leave it behind. _____________________________________________ Thank you to HUNGRYROOT, AG1 & CASH APP for sponsoring this episode: Hungryroot: Explore my Hungryroot Digital Cookbook "THE COMMISSARY UPGRADE" at https://hungryroot.com/LOCKEDIN _____________________________________________ AG1: For a limited time, save 20% on your first subscription order of AG1 Next Gen or AG1 Pro at https://drinkag1.com/lockedin _____________________________________________ Cash App: Download Cash App Today: https://click.cash.app/ui6m/6pao71et #CashAppPod Cash App is a financial services platform, not a bank. • I Smuggled Drugs for a Mexican Cartel — Then Got 5 Years in Federal Prison | Lauren Korn 20.09.2026 1h 41min
Lauren Marie Korn was adopted from Colombia and raised by a loving family in New Jersey. She had a good home and every opportunity to take a different path — but the people she surrounded herself with eventually pulled her into the drug world. What started with a relationship with a drug dealer grew into Lauren building a successful marijuana operation in California, mailing weed across the country and making serious money. But as the operation got bigger, so did the people she was dealing with. Eventually, Lauren found herself working with the Mexican cartel and smuggling drugs across the United States — until the federal government came crashing down on her operation.  _____________________________________________  Connect with Lauren Korn: https://www.instagram.com/_sa1ntlaurent?stkn=MXV0dXd1c3RobHpwMQ== _____________________________________________ Hosted, Executive Produced & Edited By Ian Bick: https://ianbick.com/ _____________________________________________ Timestamps: 00:00 Mailing boxes for the cartel 00:24 From weed to the cartel 00:51 Growing up adopted in New Jersey 01:27 Searching for biological family 01:56 A Catholic, service-oriented family 02:41 Young Lauren was a blast 03:36 Facing racism at Catholic school 05:14 Struggling to find footing 06:15 Losing a close friend to suicide 06:44 Starting to sell weed 07:37 Dating a man with a violent past 08:02 Shots fired at the apartment 09:31 Helping him go on the run 10:36 Life on the run together 11:51 Aftermath of the shooting 12:48 Keeping parents in the dark 13:20 Psychiatric meds and development 14:50 College plans derailed 15:37 Reconnecting in California 16:07 Mailing boxes across the country 17:19 First big weed sale 18:58 Building a legal cannabis business 20:03 Getting into the meth trade 21:55 Dealing with the cartel 24:00 Transporting 13,000 kilos of meth 25:25 Why no profit from meth deals 26:32 Abuse and losing a child 28:30 Why she stayed with her abuser 29:26 How the weed business worked 30:35 The secret to mailing weed 32:24 Becoming a legal operation 34:00 Hiding his criminal past 35:20 Peak earnings and spending 36:18 Supporting her abusive partner 37:00 Why she drove the transports 38:50 Meth runs to the border 42:12 Why he got in too deep 43:06 The deal that unraveled everything 45:43 DEA and ATF come knocking 46:26 Turning herself in 47:01 Mom's kidney transplant and going back 48:00 Attached to the abuser again 48:30 The arrest in New Jersey 50:41 Charged and indicted 51:41 Plea deal and 5-year sentence 53:10 Parents' reaction and support 54:53 How the Chicago bust unravelled 56:41 Everyone cooperated 59:07 Life in federal detention 01:02:50 Coming home and finding work 01:03:40 Meeting her daughter's father 01:05:06 Violating supervised release 01:06:34 Halfway house threats and leaving 01:08:18 On the run and getting pregnant 01:09:55 Choosing to give birth safely 01:11:17 Arrested at 5 AM 01:13:11 He never knew about the parole violation 01:14:06 How they found her 01:15:53 Life on the run in New York 01:16:31 Getting 6 months for the violation 01:17:54 Sexual assault in county jail 01:20:15 Mixing male and female inmates 01:21:34 Transgender inmates in women's prison 01:23:20 Fake or not? • I Hunted America's Biggest Drug Traffickers in the '70s — Here's What It Was Like | Lewis Rice 17.09.2026 2h 27min
Lewis Rice spent 26 years inside the DEA, working undercover cases and helping take down some of the biggest drug traffickers in America in the 1970's, 80's & 90's. After earning his Criminal Justice degree from St. John's University, he joined the DEA and went on to coordinate major international investigations targeting violent cartels in Miami — cases that seized millions of dollars in cash and thousands of kilos of cocaine and heroin. He worked directly with infamous Harlem drug kingpin Frank Lucas after Lucas became a government cooperator, using his information to help convict major traffickers. Rice eventually rose through DEA leadership positions in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Detroit, and New York before becoming Special Agent in Charge of the DEA's flagship New York office — making him the youngest SAC in the entire agency at the time. After 26 years on the front lines of America's war on drugs, he retired in 2001. _____________________________________________  #miami #truecrimestories #cops #mafia #newyork _____________________________________________ Thank you to CASH APP for sponsoring this episode: Download Cash App Today: https://click.cash.app/ui6m/6pao71et #CashAppPod Cash App is a financial services platform, not a bank. Joshua Bentz grew up in Connecticut, watched his parents split, felt unwanted by his mother, took to the streets, became a White Crip, cycled through juvenile detention, Connecticut state prison, and eventually the federal prison system — navigating addiction, prison politics, gang life, and the specific difficulty of finding work as a felon — before finally finding sobriety and the turning point that everything that life had cost him desperately needed. _____________________________________________  #federalprison #prisonstory #truecrimestories _____________________________________________ Thank you to CASH APP for sponsoring this episode: Download Cash App Today: https://click.cash.app/ui6m/6pao71et #CashAppPod Cash App is a financial services platform, not a bank. • I Was an FBI Agent — Then I Became a Whistleblower | Greg Dillon 14.09.2026 2h 17min
Greg Dillon grew up in Connecticut, studied criminal justice at the University of New Haven under renowned forensic scientist Dr. Henry Lee, became a Branford police officer, and later joined the FBI as a special agent. After five years with the Bureau, he left to become a supervising investigator at the Connecticut Chief State's Attorney's Office — where he uncovered something he never expected. Greg discovered that FBI agents were falsifying information in federal arrest warrant affidavits and attributing those statements to him and his investigators without their knowledge. When he reported what was happening up the chain of command, instead of being protected, he says his supervisor helped cover it up. _____________________________________________ #corruption #cops #fbi _____________________________________________ Thank you to CASH APP for sponsoring this episode: Download Cash App Today: https://click.cash.app/ui6m/6pao71et #CashAppPod Cash App is a financial services platform, not a bank. • I Was a New Jersey Correctional Officer — Here's Why I Walked Away After 3 Years | Laquan Rouse 09.09.2026 1h 48min
Laquan Rouse grew up in New Jersey associating with gang members without ever joining, was a star athlete who had every reason to believe sports would define his future — until he got shot three times his senior year of high school and had to decide who he was actually going to become. He straightened his life out and became a New Jersey correctional officer, spending three years working the floor inside Trenton State Prison and other New Jersey facilities where he earned respect from inmates, witnessed corrupt guards, and accumulated funny stories and hard truths. Then he walked away voluntarily — and is now sharing why. _____________________________________________ #CorrectionalOfficer #PrisonGuard #PrisonStories #TrueCrime #NewJersey _____________________________________________ Thank you to FACTOR for sponsoring this episode: Head to https://factormeals.com/lockedin50off and use code lockedin50off to get 50 percent off and 1 free breakfast item per box for 1 year, while supplies last until 10/31/2026. _____________________________________________ Hosted, Executive Produced & Edited By Ian Bick: https://www.instagram.com/ian_bick/?hl=en https://ianbick.com/ _____________________________________________ Timestamps: 00:00 Crazy Smuggling Story 00:14 Meet Laquan Roose 00:37 Growing Up in Jersey City 01:13 Family and Upbringing 02:00 Only One in Law Enforcement 02:35 Views on Cops as a Kid 03:04 High School Troubles 04:36 Switching Schools 05:01 Family in Education 05:26 Why Getting Into Trouble? 06:00 Dad's Work Ethic 07:19 Struggle vs. Discipline 08:00 Getting Shot 08:51 Gang or Personal Beef? 10:49 Out at 2 AM 12:18 The Shooting Details 14:30 Hospital and Family 15:27 The Pursuit Continues 16:36 Getting Help 17:33 Wanting Revenge 19:45 Cops Investigate 20:17 Leaving the Hospital 22:03 No Retaliation 23:33 Parents Want Cooperation 24:18 Back to School and Football 27:46 Normal for the City? 28:50 Block Culture 29:18 Family Gang Involvement 29:48 Avoiding Gangs 31:03 Junior College 31:57 Impact of Environment 32:14 Protecting Younger Brother 34:01 Fixing the Community 35:13 Sponsor: Factor 36:52 After Junior College 37:27 Getting into Corrections 39:05 The Pay 39:38 Family Reaction 40:52 The Academy 42:14 Training Scenarios 44:04 Fighting Training 44:19 Dropout Rate 44:48 First Prison Experience 46:00 Super Cops 46:47 Street Guys Turned COs 47:08 Being a Chill Cop 47:25 Trenton State Prison 48:28 First Witnessed Events 49:24 Keeping Things Under Wraps 50:21 Nothing to Lose 52:55 Earning Respect 55:50 Transfer to Rahway 56:11 Past Follows You 56:55 Friend Serving 75 Years 58:39 How Other Officers Treated Him 01:00:13 Corruption Among Officers 01:01:21 Fetty Wap Situation 01:03:41 Young Officers and Old Heads 01:04:07 Respected Inmate: Snowball 01:05:52 Handling Snitches 01:08:00 Craziest Check-In 01:10:58 K2 and Its Effects 01:15:41 Cell Searches 01:17:07 Strangest Things in Cells 01:19:35 Cell Phones in Prison 01:20:42 Food and Contraband 01:23:48 Officer Downtime 01:25:36 Cell Assignments 01:26:34 Shift Differences 01:27:36 Control Over Inmates 01:29:08 Sex Offenders 01:31:19 Worst Part of the Job 01:32:30 Squat and Cough 01:33:51 Female Officers Hookups 01:35:11 Max B Encounter 01:35:21 Expecting a Long Career 01:35:48 Why He Left 01:42:48 Life After Resigning 01:43:43 What He Does Now 01:44:42 Misconceptions About Prisons 01:46:04 Why Experience Both Worlds? 01:48:00 Final Thoughts _____________________________________________ To advertise on the show, contact [email protected] or visit https://advertising.libsyn.com/LockedInWithIanBicka

Michael L. Burge grew up in North Carolina and Virginia, watched his parents split, was a good kid overall — skipped college, started working, got caught up with the wrong crowd, started robbing houses and businesses, and received a 17 year sentence in the North Carolina state prison system that took him in at 23 years old and handed him back to the world at 40. _____________________________________________ #northcarolina #truecrimestories #prisonlife _____________________________________________ Thank you to FACTOR for sponsoring this episode: Head to https://factormeals.com/lockedin50off and use code lockedin50off to get 50 percent off and 1 free breakfast item per box for 1 year, while supplies last until 10/31/2026. _____________________________________________ Connect with Michael Burge: BIGO Live: https://www.bigo.tv/atlas204 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/atlas.204/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@atlas20428 _____________________________________________ Hosted, Executive Produced & Edited By Ian Bick: https://www.instagram.com/ian_bick/?hl=en  https://ianbick.com/ _____________________________________________ Timestamps: 00:00 Facing 40 Years 00:51 A Turbulent Childhood 02:55 The Custody Battle 05:08 Losing Contact with Mom 10:20 Moving to Charlottesville 14:14 Reuniting with Family 16:09 High School Years 21:56 Love and Switzerland 25:00 The Robberies Begin 31:20 The Arrest 36:42 The Robberies in Detail 41:04 The Cost of Crime 44:57 Family Reactions 47:20 Facing the Sentence 52:24 No Snitching 55:22 Thinking of Victims 56:54 First Day of Prison 01:01:00 Life in Max Security 01:03:45 The Weight of Time 01:08:06 Rock Bottom 01:10:32 A Life-Changing Book 01:12:24 Why Prison Changes People 01:15:50 The Bad Days 01:19:07 Hurricane Helene 01:25:54 Giving Back Inside 01:28:30 The Purpose of Programs 01:30:30 Watching Others Go Home 01:33:34 Fear of Reentry 01:37:37 The First Day Out 01:43:53 Hardest Adjustments 01:46:29 Dating After Prison 01:49:24 Making Amends 01:51:55 Facing Judgment _____________________________________________ To advertise on the show, contact [email protected] or visit https://advertising.libsyn.com/LockedInWithIanBicka
