Why You Escape: Unpacking “-isms” and Under and Over-Functioning Trauma Response 08.09.2026 58minIf you are exhausted from using work, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or substances to manage the silent weight of burnout, this deep, transformative conversation reveals why changing the surface behavior never fixes the trauma underneath: and how to finally meet the version of yourself that doesn't need to run.Why do so many "successful" lives still feel emotionally frozen on the inside? When we experience unresolved trauma or childhood disconnection, our survival brain learns to trade authenticity for attachment: using coping mechanisms like overworking, hyper-control, perfectionism, or chemical escapes just to feel safe and accepted. But changing the behavior alone never heals the root cause. When you treat the symptom without tending to the nervous system wound, shame takes over, locking you into an endless cycle of escape, burnout, and self-abandonment.If you feel like you have tried everything, keep circling the same patterns, or suspect that the very thing you are avoiding is what will set you free, you are not broken. Your survival habits make total sense. In this powerful, eye-opening episode of In the Nude: Naked Truth of Healing, host Rachel Abi sits down with renowned addiction and recovery expert Jeanne Foot (founder of The Recovery Concierge and Naturally High) to unpack what it actually takes to heal addiction, trauma, and emotional disconnection from the root.Together, they share direct, actionable insights on how black-and-white thinking keeps us trapped, why ego is often just a shield for hidden fear, and how to transition from white-knuckle survival into true somatic peace. What We Unpack in This Root-Cause Conversation:The Hidden Mechanics of Escape: Why high-functioning adults use workaholism, control, and substances to numb unprocessed emotional pain.Treating Root Causes vs. Symptoms: How trauma reshapes your identity and why self-compassion, not shame or harsh discipline, is the ultimate turning point for change.Becoming the Scientist of Your Life: Practical tools using somatic healing, hypnotherapy, NLP, and breathwork to observe your patterns without judgment.Micro-Actions over Dramatic Breakthroughs: How movement, sleep, nervous system regulation, and journaling create sustainable, long-term emotional freedom.Rebuilding Self-Trust: Rachel and Jeanne share lived experiences of burnout and rebuilding, offering a realistic path to softening your defenses and creating a life that actually feels like home.Healing is not a rigid destination or a test of perfection: it is a daily practice of returning to yourself. Tune in to stop surviving on autopilot, clear the old survival patterns, and step into an authentic life of unshakeable calm, agency, and peace.Where you can find more Jeanne Foot? https://therecoveryconcierge.com/https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/naturally-high/id1585263254https://www.instagram.com/therecovery_concierge/ -
The "Google Maps" Rule for Inner Child Healing: How Childhood Trauma Conditioning Shapes Your Beliefs and How to Reprogram Your Subconscious 03.09.2026 18minIf you find yourself overfunctioning in relationships, accepting crumbs of affection, or constantly trying to earn the love you already deserve:this raw, eye-opening episode reveals why your brain keeps running an outdated survival script, and how to finally break the cycle. What if the heavy belief crushing your daily life isn't an absolute truth, but simply an old survival story your brain created to keep you safe as a child? When you grow up surrounded by emotional unpredictability, conditional approval, or attachment wounds, your subconscious mind adopts core protection scripts like "I am unlovable," "I am unworthy," or "I have to be perfect to be safe." Decades later, those exact childhood wounds quietly run the show—shaping how you handle conflict, driving you to overwork, and locking you into exhausting patterns of people-pleasing and self-doubt.If you are tired of self-improvement that feels like endless, exhausting work, or you're ready to stop handing your power over to past betrayals, you are not broken. You are simply stuck in a subconscious loop.In this deeply personal and practical episode of In the Nude: Naked Truth of Healing, host Rachel Abi unpacks why so many of us overfunction, over-deliver, and trade our authenticity for peace. She traces how childhood conditioning creates the rigid patterns we carry into adult relationships, and breaks down why your daily actions reveal what you actually believe about your worth—regardless of how many positive affirmations you repeat.Rachel introduces her game-changing "Google Maps" approach to belief reprogramming: a hands-on, action-based strategy to map out where you currently are, interrupt old survival stories, and build unshakeable self-trust through conscious, grounded choices. What We Unpack in This Naked Conversation:The Subconscious Origins of Overfunctioning: Why you settle for crumbs in relationships and feel the constant urge to earn love, safety, and validation. The "Google Maps" Framework: How to rewrite deep-seated core beliefs ("I'm not enough," "I'm unlovable") through small, aligned actions instead of forced positive thinking.Past & Future Illusion: Why trauma makes your imagination masquerade as certainty—and how to pull your nervous system back into the present moment.Shifting from Resistance to Choice: How to stop fighting old triggers and start responding with calm, conscious, and firm boundaries.Reclaiming Self-Worth: How to drop self-protection mechanisms, lay down the weight of overwork and resentment, and give yourself permission to take up space. You do not have to spend the rest of your life living from wounds that were never yours to carry. Tune in to stop surviving past stories, step out of relational anxiety, and start building a life that feels like genuine peace, joy, and self-trust. -

Shame, Ego-Driven Ambition, and the Truth About Body-Based Healing with Jay Sefton 01.09.2026 56minIf you are torn between chasing your big ambitions and longing for quiet peace, exhausted from white-knuckling your way through shame spirals, and tired of generic self-help advice that leaves you feeling empty... this grounded, disarmingly honest conversation will show you how to finally come back to your body. When you grow up in an environment shaped by emotional unintelligence, rigid expectations, or a high-control background, you learn early that shame is a survival mechanism. You internalize the belief that you are never doing enough, turn your ambition into an exhausting hustle, and let the quiet fear of scarcity run your life. Drawing from 25 years in acting and his transition into mental health work, Jay shares how body awareness, silence, and the Meisner technique become powerful somatic tools for coming home to yourself. Rachel brings her own raw healing journey into the mix, turning this dialogue into an accessible, unvarnished blueprint for shifting from harsh self-judgment to authentic self-trust.Together, they strip away the performance of "fixing yourself" and dive into what it actually takes to regulate your nervous system on your hardest days. You will learn how to recognize when your motivation is nourishing you versus when it is draining your spirit, why resistance isn't a sign to give up, and how small, body-based actions rebuild self-worth faster than any positive affirmation ever could. What We Unpack in This Naked Conversation:The Intersection of Acting and Therapy: Why listening, somatic presence, and dropping the social mask on stage are the exact same tools required for deep personal healing.Deconstructing Ego-Driven Striving: The crucial difference between healthy drive that fuels your soul and ego-driven ambition that leaves you feeling hollow and exhausted.Interrupting Emotional Spirals: Practical somatic tools—including breathwork, body regulation, and "naming the weird thing out loud"—to stop anxiety and shame before they overwhelm you.Reframing Resistance: Why feeling stuck or hesitant isn't a stop sign, but an invitation to move forward with more radical honesty and less shame.Building Your Personal Litmus Test: How to tune into your physical body to discern what truly makes you feel alive versus what you are doing just to satisfy external validation. You do not have to earn your right to exist or prove your worth through relentless effort. When you grow up in a behavior-focused environment with emotionally unintelligent parents or inside a high-control religious background, you learn early that your worth is tied directly to your performance. You became an expert at predicting what everyone else needed, managing your reputation, and striving for achievements to feel safe. Years later, you might not even realize you are carrying the invisible, crushing weight of Complex PTSD (CPTSD). You just know you are tired, trapped by your own thoughts, and frustrated that no matter how much you achieve, it never feels like enough. The truth is, your brain is hardwired to predict and relapse into familiar survival patterns. Most wellness advice tells you to try harder or follow a rigid 5-step formula, which leaves you feeling defeated when your mind naturally freaks out over the unknown. You are left secretly waiting for someone or something to rescue you, while drowning in the quiet noise of life.In this deeply personal and honest episode of In the Nude: Naked Truth of Healing, Rachel Abi unravels the illusion that achievement equals happiness. Feeling frustrated making the same mistakes? Secret to thriving: Embracing Silence 11.08.2026 1h 6minSilence can feel terrifying. A life filled with noise, trauma and dysregulation: I found silence triggering. This episode walks through not only the truth of the impact and power of silence and it's direct correlation to your having more peace but also how to take baby steps that won't cause triggers. We all know we need to wash our body or brush our teeth but scoff at the idea of silence, rest and play BUT it is a deeply needed "wash" of our brain and feelings. Silence literally helps your body, brain and soul. It helps your cardiovascular system, your immune system, your sleep, it aids brain regeneration, helps creativity, enhances focus and aids processing emotions instead of them getting locked up in the body. This conversation isn't getting into the muck of the scientific benefits as much as it is an emphasis on how to cultivate it simply within your life now. Taking the concept and applying it in real ways and real actions that can help it feel less confusing and more integrated. The noise of life can get in the way of us really living our life and thriving in it. A simple proof of this is one of the only moments of silence we have is right before we go to sleep: How often is your brain just throwing words and thoughts at you that you struggle to fall asleep.Andrew's practical challenge is to listen to your favorite song and just listen. It doesn't have to look like long meditations or silent retreats: it can look like focused breathing for 90 seconds. Start where you are with what you can: tangibly making your life better in sustainable ways. Your past DOESN'T dictate your future: embracing your worth the true path to your fitness goals 04.08.2026 48minIf I asked you to name 3 things you hated about yourself you could likely without any time write that list: we have been taught to critique ourselves, shame our bodies, and all the while quietly take on loads that aren't ours. This pattern we follow like those before us is digging our own grave: the grave of our souls, hearts bodies AND the ability to have a life we love. If we want to have a different life and feel differently we have to be willing to do, think and be different. Self worth and self acceptance IS that work. Not a rest when you achieve. Not reward when you are productive enough. Not love when you are that size INSTEAD seeing the powerhouse you are in this exact moment and embracing this current version of you fully loving and accepting it, holding it's hand with the love you never received and SHOWING yourself that you are lovable by being the first person to do so. Bringing that acceptance to the table and decompressing the beliefs that aren't working for us is the real magic to getting weight to drop off and achieving the joy and peace you desire. Stop waiting to see yourself as loveable and worth it and start being it for yourself: listen to hear practical tools and steps to get you towards a life you love. Why You Still Feel Stuck (Even After the Trauma Is Over)2 28.07.2026 56minIn this raw and honest episode of In the Nude: The Naked Truth of Healing, Rachel sits down with Dr. Christopher Cortman: a licensed psychologist with over 40 years of clinical experience and more than 85,000 psychotherapy sessions : to explore forgiveness, resentment, trauma recovery, grief, and emotional healing. For many people living with CPTSD, religious trauma, high-control upbringing wounds, or chronic anxiety, forgiveness can feel impossible. Dr. Cortman explains why bitterness often becomes a form of protection, how resentment can shield us from vulnerability, and why holding onto anger may keep us emotionally stuck long after the original harm occurred. The conversation dives into one of the most misunderstood topics in trauma healing: the difference between forgiveness and reconciliation. Forgiveness is about releasing the emotional grip of the past; reconciliation is about rebuilding trust and intimacy = and those are not the same thing.Rachel and Dr. Cortman also discuss grief, unresolved trauma, emotional triggers, nervous system responses, and guided imagery therapy. They explore how unfinished pain can shape relationships, self-worth, and daily life for years, and how intentionally revisiting painful memories in a safe therapeutic context can help people process, reframe, and release what they’ve been carrying. This episode challenges the belief that time heals all wounds. Instead, it offers a compassionate and practical path toward healing through facing the pain, telling the truth, feeling the feelings, and choosing acceptance. If you’re healing from childhood trauma, emotional abuse, religious trauma, toxic relationships, or complex PTSD, this conversation will help you understand how forgiveness can become an act of self-liberation, peace, and coming home to yourself.Want more of Dr. Cortman in your life? https://srqshrink.com/https://www.instagram.com/drchristophercortman/https://www.tiktok.com/ @drchristophercortman https://www.youtube.com/@drchristophercortman -

Grasping at "Good" and fitting "Normal" breaks your ability to thrive and keeps you trapped in abuse patterns. 16.07.2026 15minQuantifying value wastes energy and time, yet it is prolific. #1. Winner. All words that don't actually convey full truth."Normal" is another waste of time. We each have "normals" within ourselves or within our families. "Normal" however as a thing isn't real. It is a box. A way to quantify ineffectively. While definitions and understanding trends can helps us feel understood or less alone holding tightly to boxes of "identity" are more like shoving our body through a cookie cutter we were never met to fit perfectly instead take from the frame work that this is a "generalization" and that all things are in fact a spectrum. Depression can look like a few weeks of being down; it can also mean someone who is close to unaliving themselves= not the same despite being boxed the same. When we let go of the boxes and controls others have given ourselves and instead gain curiosity for our unique personhood we gain MUCH more clarity and actionables to who we are and what to do with that. How to process our feelings. How to adjust to the situation. How to gain more peace. How to thrive. In this epsidoe I breakdown how "normal" isn't real AND freeing yourself from white knuckled grip on our "identities" actually free us into a beautiful world where we can actually thrive with ease following our own magic. -
Stop Forcing Your Life: Why Surfing the Waves of the Unknown Is the Only Way to Stop Self-Abandoning 14.07.2026 43minIf you are running yourself into the ground trying to manage your life through mental constructs, rigid logic, and pure control: but you still wake up feeling anxious, isolated, and completely defeated... this conversation will shatter the walls of your cage. For those of us raised inside high-control religious structures or under the roof of behavior-focused, emotionally unintelegent parents, certainty was our only protection. You were conditioned to distrust your body, ignore your desires, and treat your intuition like a dangerous sin. You learned to navigate life using a strict, logical formula: obey the rules, hit the milestones, dominate your emotions, and keep everyone else comfortable. You became an expert at reading external scripts, but you are living with a deep, silent emptiness. You are likely fighting the exhausting, chronic freeze response of Complex PTSD (CPTSD) without even realizing it: wondering why the more you try to control your life, the more disconnected and paralyzed you feel.In this profoundly disruptive episode of In The Nude, Rachel Abi sits down with scientist, author, and intuitive pioneer Dr. Sophia Trevenna to completely strip away the western paradigm of hustle, control, and domination. Sophia shares her radical transition from rigid scientific skepticism to an unfiltered life of intuitive adventure and energetic co-creation. This isn’t an aesthetic talk about trendy manifestation; it is a raw, real-time experiment on what happens when you decide to live beyond what you know.Together, Rachel and Sophia reveal how trauma forces us to externalize our solutions, why forcing your life to fit into traditional societal boxes keeps your nervous system in a state of high alarm, and how to physically retrain your body to read the subtle somatic signals of true alignment. This conversation is a practical, non-linear blueprint for the woman who is tired of just surviving the corporate and cultural matrix and is ready to step into her absolute creative sovereignty. What We Deeply Unpack in This Naked Conversation:The Trap of Mental Constructs: Why relying solely on what you "know" keeps you looping in the exact same generational trauma patterns.Somatic Manifestation vs. Domination: Why trying to force your dreams through aggressive control leaves you spiritually bankrupt, and how to "surf" life's energy instead. The Seven Feminine Principles: Shifting out of hyper-masculine survival structures and into collaborative, fluid, and ecosystem-based business and lifestyle models.Interpreting Your Body’s Radar: Practical rituals to clear stuck energy, trust your posture cues, and translate the unconscious wisdom of your physical self.Embracing the Sacred Pause: How to handle hardships, setbacks, and divine timing without spiraling into a freeze response or toxic self-criticism.Be warned: This conversation requires a complete surrender of your need to control the room. It is a raw, naked invitation to step off the cliff of certainty and find community in the unknown. Finding this door could alter the entire trajectory of your life's work and healing.Want more of Dr Sophia? https://www.drsophiatrevenna.com/https://sofanyawellness.com/https://www.instagram.com/drsophiatrevenna/https://www.instagram.com/sofanyawellness/ -
Living a peaceful life and leaving anxiety behind: doing the unthinkable; surrender 09.07.2026 17minChaos is not fixed by control. The more we try and shove our life into the pretty picture we think it should be the more it explodes out of the bottom and sides of the box. Leaving us riddled with anxiety. Which not to be dramatic is slowly killing us. What then do we do?Pressure from so many sides telling us what we should do, be, have, own, achieve... Internally the "not good enough" "not enough" "unlovable" drums beat louder and louder till we cave to the pressure and shatter... This might be binge eating, this might be sickness, this might be depression, the list goes on. Let go. Terrifying as it sounds. Let go. This episode I go into depth on the principles and some practical ways I act on "letting go" in my own life. The noise of this world is never going to stop. Life is too short to keep living on default. Too short to be living with this stress inside of us making this existence miserable AND shorter than it could be. If you want a different life than you have... one with more peace and contentment and fulfillment: join me on this adventure. -

You learned to suppress your anger, freeze your tears, and treat your body like an unfeeling machine to avoid punishment or rejection. You became an expert at surviving, but you are completely empty, exhausted, and feeling entirely alone. Colin shares his personal journey of navigating deep trauma, transforming physical activity into somatic therapy, and discovering that true resilience isn't a hard rock that breaks under pressure: it is fluid, adaptable water. What We Deeply Unpack in This Naked Conversation:The Hardness Fallacy: Why the rigid perfectionism you used to survive your childhood is now the exact cage starving your soul.Somatic Movement as Therapy: How to use physical challenges to move stuck survival energy out of your nervous system and release trauma-clutter without a rigid formula. The Reality of True Vulnerability: Dismantling the outdated, toxic cultural norms surrounding masculinity and emotional suppression.Shifting the Internal Focus: Moving from an insatiable need for external validation to a deeply anchored, daily practice of somatic gratitude.Building a Joy List: Practical, micro-steps to uncover your authentic desires, connect with a real community, and safely allow your inner light to shine.Be warned: This conversation does not offer a cheap spiritual shortcut. It is an honest, confrontational, and deeply compassionate mirror that will challenge you to drop your armor. Accessing this shift can radically change your entire relationship with your pain and rewrite the trajectory of your health.Want more Colin? https://thecolinowensby.com/https://www.instagram.com/thecolinowensby -
Tired of cycling the same bullsh*t? Fear of discomfort is holding you prisoner. 02.07.2026 16minWhat if pain wasn't something you fought? What if pain was the vehicle of joy?We all experience repeating the same cycles of behavior and the resulting consequences. Whether it’s dating your "father" over and over l again or spending all that you make, or constantly being exhausted. Most of the time, fear of the unknown and fear of pain causes our default mode network to turn back into what we have known. If you want to stop living in a circle: Awareness and acknowledgment are the first steps... But what’s after that?In this episode, I breakdown a huge shift that's free and impactful: changing our relationship to pain. A conscious choice of collaborating with the seeming incomprehensible, and in that freeing ourselves from suffering. The impact of conscious perspective directly increasing our sustainable peace in the process and journey. The path is perspective and principle of ideals and filters of which, you get to decide how to apply and in what ways. I know that feels empty in a world of to dos we look for that same cut and dry: if cut and dry worked it would have worked by now. Life isn't paint by numbers. Let's not enjoy the freedom and joy of play together.
