In this fourth episode, we travel to Chile through one of the most influential rappers in the Spanish-speaking world, Ana Tijoux. The French-Chilean songwriter and performer is ranked No. 5 on Rolling Stone's Top 50 Greatest Spanish-Language Rappers. Of Aymara descent, Tijoux was born in France to Chilean parents who were exiled during Augusto Pinochet's dictatorship. Un podcast original de KEXP conducido por Albina Cabrera donde artistas de América Latina y de distintas escenas globales comparten el cancionero de sus vidas: las canciones que los formaron como personas y creadores. En 2023, Cancioneros comenzó explorando cómo la música migra a través de fronteras, idiomas y generaciones. En 2024, la serie se sumergió en los 50 discos que marcaron a Kurt Cobain y su vínculo con el rock latinoamericano. En 2025, adoptó un formato semanal con playlists dinámicas y conversaciones íntimas con artistas de América Latina y su diáspora. Para la temporada 2026, el proyecto expande aún más sus fronteras sonoras, incorporando voces de distintas escenas globales que exploran tanto sus raíces latinoamericanas como sus influencias internacionales. A KEXP original podcast hosted by Albina Cabrera, where artists from Latin America and global music scenes share the songbooks of their lives — the songs that shaped them as people and creators. Launched in 2023, Cancioneros began by exploring how music migrates across borders, languages, and generations. In 2024, the series dove into the 50 albums that shaped Kurt Cobain and their connection to the evolution of Latin American rock. In 2025, the show adopted a weekly format, featuring dynamic playlists and intimate conversations with artists from Latin America and its diaspora. For the 2026 season, the project expands its sonic scope even further, welcoming artists and cultural voices from diverse global scenes who reflect on both their Latin roots and international influences. This year, we traveled across Mexico City and Austin to meet artists in their own communities, and we’re just getting started. New episodes every Monday starting April 27, 2026. Episodes are presented primarily in Spanish — with some in English, and often in Spanglish.
