  • Ole Miss Doesn't Need A New Wrinkle | It Needs Half The Playbook Gone 03.10.2026 19Min.
Every take on this bye week has the Ole Miss defense needing a new wrinkle. That's the wrong line. Florida ran for 302 yards and Ole Miss managed one tackle for loss on 53 carries — that is not a scheme that needs more, it is one that needs less. Stephen Willis put the five-to-ten-call theory to three former Rebels and all three agreed, before Will Echoles said "paralysis by analysis" at the podium on his own. Nine days to Vanderbilt. Eight games left, and every goal still on the board. Steven Willis sits down with Tom Vanderford, the mayor of Corinth, and does three things with a bye week: diagnoses what actually beat Ole Miss in Gainesville, builds the defensive reset he would hand Pete Golding on Monday, and takes apart the reported Adidas offer that could change how this department is funded. The figure being floated is roughly triple Nike's reported counter.
  • Stop Protecting Trinidad Chambliss — It's Making Them Worse | 24th Floor Replay 03.10.2026 10Min.
Ole Miss lost 52-28 at No. 21 Florida, and the number that explains it is 302 — Florida's rushing yards. Not the secondary everybody spent the offseason worrying about. The run game. Steven Willis joined Reuben and the crew on The 24th Floor during the bye week to put the loss in order: what it actually cost, what it didn't, why the first four plays of the game were the wrong four plays, and what Pete Golding should do with fourteen days before Nashville. The honest version: there have been exactly three teams in the last 30 years to win three ranked games in September — Ohio State 2006, LSU 2011, Clemson 2017 — and all three were national title teams. Ole Miss had two banked and the third one in front of them. They didn't get it. So this probably isn't a title-level team. But every goal is still on the board, and there are eight games left. IN THIS EPISODE: • Why the September test matters and why losing it didn't close a door • Pass-to-run, not run-to-pass — and the four running plays that started the game • Trinidad Chambliss went 25-of-34 for 298 and ran for 64 and two scores in a 24-point loss • Why you cannot wrap him in bubble wrap, even with Kewan Lacy already hurt • The bye-week fix is subtraction: cut the call sheet to 5-10 plays • Cat-on-cat, one-gap, see ball go get ball — and go heat up a true freshman • The Vanderbilt you're walking into is not the Vanderbilt you left
  • He Gave Ole Miss Its First NCAA Bid Ever. There's No Banner For Him. | Ole Miss Basketball 02.10.2026 25Min.
Tim Thomas came on to preview Ole Miss basketball and ended up making a campaign speech. Elston Turner is not in the rafters at the Pavilion, and Thomas called that a travesty. Here is the file: All-Century Team, 4th in school history in scoring at 1,805 points, 2nd in rebounding at 828, and 22 points in the 66-62 SEC Tournament title win over Georgia that sent Ole Miss to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. He then played eight NBA seasons and is an assistant coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves right now. No banner. 8 days to Vanderbilt. Basketball opens with an exhibition against Alabama on Oct 15. Steven Willis and Ole Miss legend Tim Thomas go through Chris Beard's rebuilt roster, the Maui Invitational, and the end of the Tad Pad — plus the one correction the 1981 story has needed for forty-five years.
  • If Ole Miss Drops Eight In Nashville They Are Going To Lose This Game | Rebel Bye Week 02.10.2026 29Min.
Everybody looked at this October and saw a death march. Here is the part nobody put on the graphic: the order. Florida — the team that just put 302 rushing yards on this defense — plays at No. 1 Texas on Oct 17, seven days before Ole Miss does. Florida plays No. 2 Georgia on Oct 31 in Atlanta, seven days before Georgia comes to Oxford. Ole Miss gets to watch its own blueprint get attacked by a top-five offense, with a full week to answer it, in both of the games that decide the season. 8 days to Vanderbilt in Nashville. Vandy plays at No. 2 Georgia first, on Oct 3. Steven Willis works the bye week from the schedule out — why the calendar is friendlier than the opponent list looks, why a passive front against a five-star freshman is the one thing that loses the Vanderbilt game, and the provision in the Senate's college sports bill that would be felt before this season ends.
  • SEC SQUAD - The SEC has a SNEAKY SLATE | How will Ole Miss fare? 01.10.2026 35Min.
SEC underdogs shake up expectations as Florida Gators crack the top 10, Missouri eyes a statement win, and frustration boils over for Arkansas and South Carolina fans. Can Jon Sumrall's surging Gators keep their momentum, or will Missouri finally prove their ranking? Meanwhile, Shane Beamer faces mounting pressure with South Carolina's season on the brink, and Arkansas looks to snap a brutal SEC losing streak against a reeling Texas A&M. The SEC Squad breaks down Week 5’s most intriguing SEC matchups, from Vanderbilt’s uphill battle against Georgia to the explosive quarterback duel between Alabama and Mississippi State. Key topics include Auburn’s offensive woes, Kentucky’s road challenge, injury updates to stars like Nate Frazier and Jared Curtis, and the ongoing debate over NIL and transfer speculation for breakout talents. Which SEC team is primed for an upset—and who’s at risk of hitting rock bottom?
  • Will Echoles Had ZERO Pressures And Said It Was A Lack Of Violence | Ole Miss fix for Vandy? 01.10.2026 27Min.
Everyone spent the bye week arguing about Pete Golding's scheme. That's the wrong line. Will Echoles rushed the passer 17 times against Florida and produced ZERO pressures, seven days after posting 7 pressures and a sack on the exact same 54 snaps — and the unit around him managed six total pressures and no sacks on roughly 112 pass-rush snaps. You cannot scheme your way to one tackle for loss on 53 carries. Somebody has to beat a block, and for one Saturday in Gainesville nobody did. 9 days to Vanderbilt in Nashville. Two players went to a podium Tuesday and said more useful things about this defense than anybody analyzing it all week. Steven Willis takes the two Tuesday pressers apart and puts the charting next to them — Echoles calling his own room's tape "a lack of violence," the 14 missed tackles that are now three straight weeks at exactly 14, and the one number from the bye week that says the offensive line was never the problem.
  • Todd Wade: Florida Attacking The C-Gap Was Indefendable For Ole Miss 30.09.2026 29Min.
Everybody spent the bye week arguing about whether Ole Miss quit or whether the scheme is too complicated. Todd Wade gave a third answer in three letters: C-gap. Ole Miss plays a 4-2-5 built for spread offenses. Florida played 12 and 13 personnel, made extra gaps outside and attacked Blake Purchase and Suntarine Perkins — a linebacker essentially playing the other end. Wade: "If I was the Florida offensive coordinator, I would have done exactly the same thing." He called it indefendable. 9 days to Vanderbilt in Nashville. The last of four legends on the Florida autopsy, and the only one who put a formation on it. Steven Willis and Todd Wade take the Florida film apart at the point of attack — why the edge was outnumbered by design, why a former left tackle is asking for FEWER runs, and the personnel question nobody else has said out loud.
  • Finebaum Caller picks this week to Call Pete Golding a Clown | You're not going to believe his reasoning 30.09.2026 28Min.
A Finebaum caller named this show, named the host, called Pete Golding a clown, and made exactly one checkable claim: that Golding couldn't get a pass rush with Will Anderson and Dallas Turner. That's the wrong hill. Will Anderson played three seasons in Golding's defense — 7.0 sacks in 2020, then 17.5 sacks and 34.5 tackles for loss in 2021, then 10.0 more in 2022 — and won back-to-back Nagurski Trophies, back-to-back SEC Defensive Player of the Year awards and two unanimous All-American selections doing it. Dallas Turner's breakout was 2023, after Golding had already left for Oxford. 10 days to Vanderbilt. Bye week two of two, and the temperature outside this fanbase has gotten a long way ahead of the record. Steven Willis plays the call in full, walks the Will Anderson years one season at a time, counts what seven career games actually look like, and then gets to a linebacker about to play a lot more and a Vanderbilt team nobody has updated their file on.
  • Two Ole Miss Legends Just Told Me The Same Thing In Two Days | Flowers Speaks 29.09.2026 28Min.
Everybody watching the Florida tape decided Ole Miss has a talent problem on defense. Bill Flowers says that's the wrong read. His argument is structural and it is specific: you cannot fit an SEC power running game with two linebackers on the field. Go to a 4-3, put a third body in the box, simplify the calls, and let athletes who are currently thinking instead go play. He kept calling himself an armchair quarterback while making the most concrete defensive argument anyone has made on this show all season. 10 days to Vanderbilt. Bye week two of two, and the fix on the table is not more scheme — it is less of it, plus one more linebacker. Steven Willis and Ole Miss legend Bill Flowers go through the Florida film, land on a 4-3 and extreme simplification, and then build the plan for a true freshman quarterback in Nashville — which turns out to be the same plan, only louder.
  • Keegan Croucher Gaining all of the Hype for the Future Ole Miss QB | 2028 Cooking? 29.09.2026 27Min.
Every story about Keegan Croucher this week leads with the stat line. That's the wrong line. He committed to Ole Miss on October 5 — he committed to Lane Kiffin — and when Kiffin left for LSU, Georgia came, Kentucky came, Indiana came, and a 17-year-old with offers from Penn State, Michigan, Miami and Oregon never reopened it. The 27-of-35 for 531 yards and seven touchdowns is real. The part that tells you something about this program is that he stayed. 11 days to Vanderbilt. Bye week two of two, and the recruiting board moved four separate times in eight days while everybody was busy being mad about 52-28. Steven Willis takes apart the comparison everybody is making, runs the playoff seed math nobody wants to hear, and then finds three Ole Miss names on one high school campus 400 miles from Oxford — two of whom transferred in.
  • Pete Golding Is Running A Three Year Defense With One Year Players | Ole Miss Bye Week 28.09.2026 29Min.
Everybody watching Saturday decided the Ole Miss defense got exposed. That's the wrong read. Ole Miss has an All-Big 12 linebacker who is more athletic than anything on last year's roster and he was late getting sideline to sideline all afternoon — and the theory on this show is that the problem is not talent or effort, it is that Pete Golding is running a Nick Saban match-coverage system that takes three years to learn, in an era where eight of your eleven starters arrived in January. John Fourcade agreed, and then told us exactly what he would do with the two weeks. 11 days to Vanderbilt. Bye week two of two, and the fix Fourcade wants is not a scheme — it is a threat. Steven Willis and John Fourcade take apart the Florida defensive performance, land on simplification as the answer, and then Fourcade lays out a bye-week plan that ends with benching whoever will not tackle — and explains why NIL is the reason nobody does it.
  • Pete Golding Has Had This Game Before. He Fixes It. | Ole Miss Bye Week 28.09.2026 28Min.
Florida averaged 37.8 yards per kickoff return on Saturday. Ole Miss averaged 17.0. Four returns for 151 against five for 85 — the Gators gained 66 more yards of field position on one fewer attempt, and nobody in the country has reported it. Here is what that actually looked like. Third quarter, 5:21 left, Trinidad Chambliss runs in his second rushing touchdown and it is 24-21. The game is genuinely in the balance. Ninety-six seconds later Florida is back in the end zone, and that scoring drive was three plays and 26 yards. They did not drive down the field. They started on our side of it. Three things from the Swamp, what this bye week is actually for, and the SEC Week 5 board with five Ole Miss opponents on it. 📌 THREE THINGS 1. This team was running on empty and the calendar did it. September 6, No. 24 Louisville on a neutral field, won 41-38. September 12, Charlotte — the only breather all month. September 19, No. 7 LSU, 32-24. September 26, No. 21 Florida on the road in the first true road environment of the year. Three ranked opponents in 21 days, two decided by one score. Florida held the ball for nearly 37 minutes and ran it 53 times for 302 yards. The tell: Jadan Baugh, their starter, went 29 carries for 138 — 4.8 a clip. Duke Clark, the backup, went 12 for 126. That is 10.5. The second back doubled the starter on less than half the work, and Florida scored 21 in the fourth quarter alone. 2. Special teams had a terrible day, and that is a weird sentence about this program. The specialists were fine — Lucas Carneiro went 2-for-2 including a 46-yarder, and the punt team averaged 53.7 with one inside the 20. The units were not. Special teams is the one phase where effort and organization matter more than raw talent, which is exactly why it stings and exactly why two weeks should fix it. 3. Ole Miss is a pass-to-run offense. Accept it. Through four games: 117 rushing attempts, 153 pass attempts, 270 plays, 57% of them throws. 322.5 passing yards a game against 117.5 rushing — 2.7 times more production through the air. That is not a criticism, it is working, and this team leads the SEC in passing at 3-1. But it explains Saturday. A pass-to-run offense still needs the run credible enough to hold up its end, and without Kewan Lacy it was not. Plus: the two four-star freshmen this bye week belongs to, why you cannot play the transitive property in college football, and the path that still runs through Austin on October 24.
  • REACTION: What if Ole Miss had Kewan Lacy, Defense costs Ole Miss 28.09.2026 40Min.

  • REACTION: Ole Miss Didn't Get Exposed | It Ran Out Of Gas | Bye Week is at Perfect Time 27.09.2026 34Min.
It was 24-21 in the third quarter. Everybody woke up this morning with 52-28 in their head, and 52-28 is a real score — but it is not what the game was. It is what the game became in the last eighteen minutes. Ole Miss trailed 17-6 at the half, and then Trinidad Chambliss ran in two touchdowns in the third quarter to make it a three-point game on the road in the loudest building on the schedule. Then the tank hit empty. Time of possession in that game was 36:59 to 23:01. Florida ran the football 53 times. Our defense was on the field for almost 37 minutes in the third high-intensity game of the month. September 6, No. 24 Louisville, decided by three. September 19, No. 7 LSU, 32-24. September 26, No. 21 Florida on the road. Three ranked opponents in 21 days, and the only breather was Charlotte. Steven Willis goes live Sunday morning with what the box score actually says, and then it is your show — two full segments of your comments and questions.
  • OVERREACTION: Florida Ran It Down Our Throats And Chambliss Wasn't Enough 27.09.2026 31Min.
Florida's offense ran through the Ole Miss defense, and there is no version of tonight where that is not the first sentence. The Gators wanted to run it, they told everybody all week they were going to run it, and the Rebels never made them stop. Trinidad Chambliss was asked to carry an offense playing from behind in the loudest building on the schedule without its leading rusher, and one quarterback was never going to be enough against that. But two things are true tonight, and if you can only hold one of them October is going to be miserable. Florida is by far the best team Ole Miss has played this season. And every single team in this conference is going to take one before it is over. Steven Willis goes live from the postgame with the reaction, the argument, and what the next two weeks actually have to fix. Ole Miss is off next week. Vanderbilt in Nashville is October 10. 📌 THREE THINGS 1. We could not get Florida off the field. This show put it on the board Friday — the Gators' back breaks more tackles than anybody in the country, and Ole Miss misses more than almost anybody in the league — and then it happened exactly that way. That is not a scheme surprise. Missed tackles are a technique problem, they do not get fixed by who dresses on Saturday, and this is a defensive head coach's side of the ball. 2. Do not blame the injury report. Kewan Lacy was ruled out before kickoff and it cost this offense a gear it never replaced. But the players who were unavailable are not the reason Florida ran through the middle of the defense. Those are two different conversations and collapsing them into one is how a team avoids fixing the real thing. 3. The bye is the fork in the season. An open date is the only stretch all year where a staff works on itself instead of on an opponent — live tackling, fundamentals, bodies back. Then it is Vanderbilt on the road, which in this league is not a get-right game and nobody should sell it as one. Two weeks from now we find out whether tonight was one bad afternoon against the best team on the schedule, or the start of something. 📊 A NOTE ON THE NUMBERS: we do not put a game statistic on this show until Ole Miss posts the official box score. That is a rule here and it exists because we have been burned by live feeds serving halftime snapshots as finals. Tonight's full numbers go in the Everydayer tomorrow morning, sourced and checked.
  • Kewan Lacy Downgraded To Doubtful Hours Before Florida Kickoff | Ole Miss Pregame 26.09.2026 29Min.
Kewan Lacy was downgraded to doubtful Friday night, and he is the absence that actually matters. Ole Miss is likely walking into The Swamp without the back who has carried it 39 times for 191 yards this season. The availability report around him is long, but it is depth — not the starting lineup — and that distinction is the whole story going into Gainesville. Steven Willis and Mike Huesmann go live at kickoff minus two hours to sort out who actually carries the football. Kickoff is today, Saturday, September 26, at 3:30 PM ET from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on ABC. Sean McDonough, Greg McElroy and Katie George have the call. It is the 28th meeting between two programs whose all-time series is dead even at 13-13-1, and Ole Miss has not won in The Swamp since 2008. This is a live show and the final availability report drops while we are on the air. Bring your questions, your arguments, and your final score. 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Kewan Lacy is doubtful. He hurt the shoulder against LSU, the MRI came back better than feared and no surgery is needed, but he was held out of contact all week and got downgraded Friday night. If he cannot go it is Makhi Frazier, upgraded Thursday after a practice injury, and JT Lindsey, who had five touches and a two-point conversion against LSU. Together they have 86 rushing yards on 21 carries. Golding on the rotation: "He had minimized reps throughout the week, so JT got a lot of those banged reps. He was the most ready to play." 2. The secondary is intact where it counts. Sharif Denson and Antonio Kite were back against LSU and the difference was immediate — Denson put up eight tackles, seven solo, with a tackle for loss, and Jaylon Braxton ended that game with a red-zone interception. Jalyn Crawford is playing through turf toe, and Pete Golding was blunt about what that means: "If you can't run and you play corner, you're kind of a liability." The front line is available. The margin behind it is not, and one in-game injury changes that math fast. 3. This is an offensive line game. Florida sacked Auburn's quarterback seven times three weeks ago — Emmanuel Oyebadejo two and a half, Jayden Woods two and a half — and Jon Sumrall called his pass rush the bright spot of that defense, not the secondary everybody has spent the week talking about. Ole Miss leads the SEC at 330.7 passing yards a game and runs the conference's second-fastest offense at 23.1 seconds per play, but tempo only works when the quarterback is upright. Pete Golding is the first FBS head coach to beat four AP-ranked opponents in his first six career games and sits 4-1 against ranked teams. FanDuel has Florida -3.5 with a total of 58.5. 🔴 ON TODAY'S SHOW • Kewan Lacy is doubtful. Who carries it? • Mike Huesmann joins for the full half hour • Sharif Denson goes home. • Tom Vanderford: Florida Is Better Than The LSU Team We Beat | Ole Miss vs Florida 26.09.2026 29Min.
Everyone spent this week on Florida's 98th-ranked pass defense. Here is the number nobody put next to it: the Gators sacked Auburn's quarterback seven times three weeks ago. Emmanuel Oyebadejo two and a half, Jayden Woods two and a half, plus two takeaways. Same defense. A front that wrecks pockets, in front of a back end that gives up chunks. That is a very different Saturday to prepare for than "they cannot cover anybody." One day to Florida. Tom Vanderford joins to relive the loudest night Vaught-Hemingway has ever had — and then tells Steven Willis that Florida is a better football team than the LSU squad Ole Miss just beat.
  • Todd Wade: Florida Has To Blitz Chambliss, And They Can't | Ole Miss vs Florida 25.09.2026 29Min.
Every preview of this game has started with fifty-four points a game and Jadan Baugh. Start somewhere else. Start with what Florida said about Florida. Defensive coordinator Brad White, after a win: "we need to get better back there." Head coach Jon Sumrall, on the last touchdown Auburn scored: "makes me want to puke watching it." Auburn threw it thirty-five times in that game and the Gators broke up two. One day to Florida. Steven Willis puts three reasons Ole Miss beats Florida on the board and defends all three out loud, then hands you the keys, the names and a number — and corrects two of his own figures along the way.

  • A National Host Asked Me Why Florida Is Favored. I Had No Answer | Ole Miss vs Florida 25.09.2026 9Min.
Pete Golding has beaten four ranked teams in his first six games as a head coach. No coach in the history of college football has done that. No. 17 Tulane, No. 2 Georgia, No. 24 Louisville, No. 7 LSU. He has never lost to a ranked opponent. And Ole Miss is still getting points on the road Saturday from a team whose best win is Auburn. Spencer McLaughlin could not explain it on his own show, and neither could I. One day to Florida. Steven Willis joined Spencer McLaughlin on Locked On College Football to work through why the fourth-ranked team in America is an underdog, the one box-score line that tells you who won, and what happens to every old narrative about this program if Ole Miss walks out of The Swamp with it.
