Double Reel Film Podcast is a monthly magazine show for film enthusiasts. Hosted by James Adamson and his son, also named James Adamson, the podcast covers cinema news, new releases, and how they fit movie watching into their busy lives. It also explores tales of potentially great films that never got made, overlooked classics, and rants about unnecessary remakes.

    Continuing Issue 75 of Double Reel, the monthly magazine podcast for the discerning film nerd. Now it's time for the Remakes Tribunal, in which Alan and Deborah join James to put two films from 1996 up for judgement. First up a Remake on Trial, where we ask if it was justified to make The Birdcage, an English-language update of the 70s French comedy. Then we offer a Parole Board hearing to a film which didn't work the first time and ask if a remake would fix it's problems. Today it's the critically panned Demi Moore vehicle Striptease.     Issue 75 of Double Reel continues with Classics and Hidden Gems, where we catch up with a great film one of us hasn't seen and tell you about a lesser known film you should give a chance to. The theme is films from 1996 that are having their 30th anniversary, and our Classic is Branagh's lavish and comprehensive screen version of Shakespeare's Hamlet. Then our Hidden Gem is a film not may people saw or liked, but we'd like you to check out the 30s-set superhero film The Phantom.
