鱼子酱便宜到可以喂两岁的小孩了:一个很大的原因是中国的养鱼场 — Caviar Got Cheap Enough to Feed a Toddler — and a Big Reason Is Chinese Fish Farms 23.09.2026 4λDirect-to-consumer brands have broken caviar's price convention. Caviar Russe in Manhattan sells 125g of classic Osetra for $495 and its top grade for nearly $3,000; Quince sells 100g for $125, Loft discounted 125g from $346 to $138, and Miami's Cavi calls itself The People's Caviar. The underlying cause is supply: sturgeon predate the dinosaurs and take many years to produce roe, so caviar was physically scarce. Caviar was not always a luxury — 19th-century American bars gave it away as a snack. After the Soviet collapse depressed Caspian prices, overfishing collapsed wild stocks and wild-caught sturgeon was banned, so almost all US caviar is now farmed. Over the past decade Chinese sturgeon farms reached maturity; giant Chinese producers now supply both the new DTC brands and Michelin-starred restaurants. Author Gabriella Gershenson: there is so much Chinese caviar available now, much of it very cheap and very good. Caviar Russe warns cheap caviar should alert consumers; luxury strategist Daniel Langer counters that brands charged high prices simply because it was the convention, and the newcomers called the bluff. -
买下沃尔沃的那个人交班了:他把公司交给了一个不姓李的人 — The Man Who Bought Volvo Just Handed His Carmaker to Someone Who Is Not Family 22.09.2026 3λOn 17 August 2026 Geely Auto (00175.HK) announced that founder Li Shufu, 63, was stepping down as chairman and executive director. Vice-chairman Gui Shengyue called it not a routine personnel change but a declaration of de-familyisation. Li founded the group in 1986 making fridge parts, then fridges and motorcycles — so profitable that dealers queued at the factory gate and the bank opened a branch office to take the cash — before turning to cars in 1997. Denied a manufacturing licence, he told officials: please give me one chance to fail. He got it in 2001. In 2010 Geely bought Volvo Cars from Ford for $1.8bn, a deal dubbed a snake swallowing an elephant, and by 2017 led China's domestic brands on sales. His successor is An Conghui, a professional manager raised inside Geely, not a family member — unlike Fuyao's Cao Dewang, who handed to his eldest son, or Wanxiang's Lu Guanqiu, succeeded by his. Li barred his own brothers from management once carmaking began, and said in 2006: this company cannot be run by me alone. He remains chairman of the controlling shareholder, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. -
一家博物馆没把他想看的画挂出来,于是乔治·卢卡斯用十五年和十亿美元,自己盖了一座 — A Museum Wouldn't Show George Lucas the Painting He Asked For, So He Spent Fifteen Years and a Billion Dollars Building His Own 22.09.2026 3λThe Lucas Museum of Narrative Art opened in Los Angeles on 22 September 2026 — 300,000 square feet (28,000 m2), a reported $1bn, and fifteen years in the making. Its origin was a grievance: George Lucas asked a museum to see its Norman Rockwell and was told it was not on view, illustration being widely dismissed as commercial rather than fine art. Lucas and his wife Mellody Hobson built their own museum for 'narrative art' — illustration, comics, children's book art — with 7% of gallery space given to Star Wars props including Luke's landspeeder and Anakin's podracer. Rejected by San Francisco and Chicago over architecture and park land, it has a gallery displaying those failed designs. Both director and chief curator left in 2025 and Lucas has been acting as chief curator himself; there is almost no wall text, which CEO Tracey Bates says is his insistence. Art historian Anne Higonnet: such a museum is 'so selfish and so civic at the same time'. For comparison, LACMA's new Geffen galleries cost $724m. -
麻省理工做出了一块可以吞下去的电池:它在猪的身体里工作了三天,然后自己化掉了 — MIT Built a Battery You Can Swallow. It Powered a Device Inside a Pig for Three Days, Then Dissolved. 22.09.2026 3λA team led by Giovanni Traverso at MIT published a bioresorbable magnesium/molybdenum-trioxide paper battery in Nature Chemical Engineering on 21 September 2026. Coated in cellulose and inspired by the edible rice-paper wrapper on candy, it outputs about 1.84 V under physiological conditions — slightly more than a household AA — and occupies only a quarter of a standard gelatine capsule, leaving room for sensors or a drug. In pigs it powered an RFID tag read from outside the body, and drove a gastric electrical-stimulation device that raised ghrelin levels. After roughly three days gastric juices breached the coating and the battery corroded and dissolved, as designed. Yasser Khan of USC, not involved in the work, cautions that degrading is not the same as disappearing: nobody yet knows what the components break down into or how much the body absorbs, especially for patients swallowing such devices repeatedly. A separate team at the Italian Institute of Technology in Milan has built a fully edible battery from riboflavin, caper extract and nori seaweed, cleared for human consumption but not yet powerful enough to be useful. -
柏林有十六个月时间换新的黄信封,结果两个星期就用完,该进监狱的人留在了家里 — Berlin Had Sixteen Months to Switch Envelopes. The New Ones Ran Out in Two Weeks, and People Due in Prison Stayed Home. 21.09.2026 3λBerlin prosecutors could not send prison-reporting summonses because they ran out of the yellow envelopes required for legally valid formal service. Germany's federal justice ministry changed the service-form spec on 31 March 2025 with old forms usable until 31 July 2026 — roughly sixteen months of notice. Berlin procured the new envelopes on time; they were exhausted after two weeks because demand far exceeded the estimate, and reordering failed on supplier shortages. Convicted people stayed home, cells sat empty, and the office never recorded how many were affected. -

Nearly twenty years from idea to ribbon-cutting; ground broken in 2024; nearly $9 million raised in donations; first children move in in October. -

一个人工智能客服顶了七百个人,平均满意度和人一样:一年后公司把人招了回来,因为平均值把最糟的那批客户藏起来了 — Klarna Rehires Humans After AI Replaces 700 Agents 12.09.2026 3λKlarna launched an OpenAI-powered customer service assistant globally in February 2024; in its first month it handled 2.3 million conversations, which the company said was equivalent to about 700 full-time agents, cutting average resolution time from 11 minutes to 2 and repeat inquiries by 25%, with $40m of added profit projected. By mid-2025 Klarna was rehiring human agents; founder Sebastian Siemiatkowski told Bloomberg the company had gone too far and that focusing on cost had driven down quality. Average satisfaction had looked level because the distribution was bimodal - simple queries scored near the top, complex ones near the bottom -
他已经下到安全的楼层了,然后他转身又上去了:二十五年后,「红头巾的人」拿到了总统自由勋章 — 9/11 Red Bandana Hero Gets Medal of Freedom 12.09.2026 3λWelles Crowther, a 24-year-old equities trader on the 104th floor of the World Trade Center South Tower, tied the red bandana his father gave him at six over his face and led survivors down the one passable stairwell above the impact zone on 11 September 2001, carrying one woman seventeen floors on his back and returning upstairs repeatedly until the tower collapsed. Survivors knew him only as the man in the red bandana; his mother identified him from a May 2002 New York Times account. He is credited with helping save about eighteen people, and was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom on 8 September 2026 -
「如果明天世界完了,第二天全球的货币就是宝可梦卡」:一个手握五十万张卡的投资人是认真的,而他说错的地方比说对的地方更有意思 — Pokémon Cards as Doomsday Money 12.09.2026 4λPeter Levin, co-founder of Griffin Gaming Partners and a collector who owns well north of half a million Pokemon cards, told The Hollywood Reporter in September 2026 that if the world suffered an apocalypse tomorrow, the following day the global currency would be Pokemon cards, citing card prices beating the S&P 500 by 3,000 percent. The episode tests the claim against the standard three conditions for money - scarcity, portability and consensus - finds the cross-border price consensus argument genuinely strong, and then identifies the survivorship bias in the 3,000 percent figure and the fatal flaw that collectibles are priced by discretionary income, which an apocalypse destroys first -

The union said the cuts eliminate over 540 combined years of service, and OPSEU Local 549 president Raluca Ellis asked how you can have an Ontario Science Centre with no science unit. The province abruptly closed the Toronto building in summer 2024 over an engineering report on roof deficiencies, and is building a $1-billion replacement at Ontario Place -
两亿四千五百万美元,一分钱都不是抢来的:一个二十二岁的人打了两年电话,每一笔都是对方自己交出去的 — Phone Calls Stole $245 Million in Crypto 10.09.2026 3λA 22-year-old pleaded guilty in September 2026 to a racketeering conspiracy that stole and laundered more than $245 million in cryptocurrency between October 2023 and May 2025 - one of the largest crypto thefts in US history. The method was social engineering: members impersonated customer support from a major search company and a crypto exchange, manufactured trust and urgency, and had victims read out their own security codes. One victim lost over 4,100 bitcoin. Proceeds went on 30+ cars, a $2 million watch, mansions and private jets. He faces up to 20 years
