  This episode of Frankie B’s Reggae Session is served up with extra flavor, giving a big shoutout to Jackmore’s Restaurant in Lagos, Nigeria, bringing Jamaican food to the table in the heart of Lagos. The session was built to move alongside the food: warm roots, conscious reggae, island soul, African connection, and enough bass to season the whole room. The first stretch sets the table with modern reggae voices including Chronixx, Protoje, Damian Marley, KA$E, YG Marley, BLVCK H3RO, Ras-I, Khalia, Rik Jam, JonQuan, Lovelier Phenomenon, Buju Banton, Samory I, Stephen Marley, Kumar Fyah, Stay Nice Music, and Levon Gray. Special shine goes to Samory I, whose new album Revelation is out now. His track “Zion” lands right in the heart of the episode, bringing that spiritual, heavy roots-reggae weight. We talk about his upbringing and love for Reggae Music, which spans all the way back to his Grandfather, who was a Chief and played Reggae for everyone who would listen. Maurice has taken that generational love of reggae music into his own hands by producing some really good music, which we will be playing along the way. Maurice and the Overstand Mixtape are not to be missed. Lock and load your eardrums for some killer music and a talk with one of the more interesting people I've spoken to in awhile.

  I caught up with Samory I the morning after his Album Release party for "Strength."  7 Years after our first interview and months before the release of Black Gold, a lot has changed in Samory's life. From his experience in the creation of Rory Stonelove's Black Gold, to his Collaboration with Winta James on the production of his new album Strength.  I would say Samory I has evolved from a reggae singer to an artist and that his new Album should be a strong contender for next year's Grammys.  Listen to our conversation, along with some of his most recent tracks, and understand why the artist, Samory I, and his new album, "Strength," are what you should be listening to right now.
