Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965) gives us one of the first historical treatments of the life of Jesus in his pioneering book (1906) that reviews all prior work on the question of the "historical Jesus" and points out how Jesus of Nazareth's image has changed with the times—while offering his own synopsis and interpretation in this seminal work of biblical criticism. • Our Lady of Sorrows 15.09.2026 7m
September 15 celebrates annually The Feast of Our Mother or Lady of Sorrows. This memorial honors the Mary and her profound suffering and grief during the life, passion, and death of her son, Jesus. The day commemorates seven key moments of deep maternal pain and sorrow in Mary's life, known as The Seven Sorrows of Mary: which are as follows: the Prophecy of Simeon who foretells that a sword will pierce her soul. Flight into Egypt by The Holy Family who flees from King Herod's wrath. Loss of Jesus in the Temple, when Mary and Joseph search three days for their young son in Jerusalem. Meeting Jesus on the Way to Calvary, when Mary encounters her son carrying the cross. The Crucifixion, when Mary stands faithfully at the foot of the cross. Taking Down from the Cross, when Jesus' body is removed and placed in her arms; and finally The Burial of Jesus: When her dead son is laid in the tomb. Now, let's experience perhaps the deepest of these sorrows with Breathe Bible. • 365. Albert of Jerusalem 14.09.2026 10m
September 14 is the annual commemoration of Saint Albert of Jerusalem (1149-1214). A group of Christian hermits settled on Mount Carmel—the biblical site associated with the Prophet Elijah (900-850 BC). These hermits built a chapel dedicated to Mary and eventually became known as the Brothers of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. They viewed Mary as their spiritual mother and the "Lady of the place," integrating the contemplation of Elijah with devotion to the Virgin. Central to this devotion is the Brown Scapular. Saint Albert of Jerusalem was an Italian canon lawyer, bishop, and Patriarch of Jerusalem who is best known for writing the foundational Rule of Life for the Carmelite Order. • 364. Exaltation of the Cross 14.09.2026 11m
September 14 is the annual celebration of the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross commemorates the discovery of the True Cross by St. Helena, the dedication of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the cross as the triumphant symbol of salvation, transforming an instrument of torture into a sign of victory. The Feast honors the Cross upon which Jesus was crucified to redeem the world from sin, serving as a reminder of God's love and the victory of life over death. The feast originated in the 4th century with St. Helena's discovery of the True Cross in Jerusalem around 326 AD and the subsequent dedication of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in 335 AD. While Good Friday focuses specifically on the suffering of Christ's passion, the Feast of the Exaltation focuses on the triumph of the cross itself, and is commemorated by Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, and Protestant Lutherans & Anglicans.  Bishop Barron podcast available at https://link.amazon/B04nhwtj2  Books by Bishop Robert Barron available at https://amzn.to/44W7nwN   The Theology of Robert Barron at https://amzn.to/4mTIkUf Torah publications available at https://link.amazon/B0aZff4ho ENJOY Ad-Free content, Bonus episodes, and Extra materials when joining our growing community on https://patreon.com/markvinet  SUPPORT this channel by purchasing any product on Amazon using this FREE entry LINK https://amzn.to/3POlrUD (Amazon gives us credit at NO extra charge to you).  Mark Vinet's TIMELINE video channel: https://youtube.com/c/TIMELINE_MarkVine                Mark's History of North America podcast: www.parthenonpodcast.com/history-of-north-america Website: https://markvinet.com/podcast Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mark.vinet.9 X (twitter): https://twitter.com/MarkVinet_HNA   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/denarynovels   Mark's books: https://amzn.to/3k8qrGM   Audio credits: Saint of the Day-The Universal Exaltation of the Precious and Life-giving Cross Sept. 14, 2025 (Deacon Jerome Atherholt & Ancient Faith Ministries); Saint Of The Day podcast with Mike Roberts by Covenant Network (ourcatholicradio.org) Exaltation Of The Holy Cross, Sept. 14, 2025; Bishop Barron’s Sunday Sermons - Catholic Preaching and Homilies Christ, and Him Crucified, Sept. 10, 2025 (Word on Fire). • Name of Mary (Holy Day) 12.09.2026 5m
The Feast of the Most Holy Name of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a liturgical celebration held annually on September 12. The celebration began in Spain in 1513. Pope Innocent XI extended it to the entire Western Church in 1683 to thank Our Lady for the victory of Poland over the Ottoman Empire at the Battle of Vienna. The name Mary derives from the Hebrew Miryam or Aramaic Maryam. The name is honored because it belongs to the Mother of God, representing purity, grace, and maternal intercession. • Parable of the Ten Virgins 11.09.2026 10m
Gospel of Matthew 25:1-13 relates Jesus' teachings of the Parable of the Ten Virgins comparing the kingdom of heaven to bridesmaids waiting for a bridegroom. Five virgins were wise and had extra oil for their lamps, while five were foolish and ran out of oil. When the bridegroom arrived late, the foolish virgins went to buy more oil and missed the wedding, while the wise virgins were welcomed in. The parable teaches that people should always be prepared and watchful for the coming of Christ. • 362. Anne and Joachim 09.09.2026 14m
September 9 annually celebrates The Synaxis of Saints Joachim and Anne, the birth parents of Mary, and the maternal grandparents of Jesus — according to long-standing Christian tradition and ancient apocryphal texts, as they are not named in the canonical Gospels. Synaxis is a Greek term that means a "gathering" or "assembly" for religious worship. Eastern Orthodox and certain Eastern Catholic churches (such as the Maronite Church) recognize this Synaxis. The joint feast day of Anne and Joachim is celebrated every year on July 26 by Catholic and Protestant Anglican & Episcopal Churches. The couple are recognized as the patron saints of grandparents and elders. Anne is also a patron of mothers, women in labor, and childless couples.  Dr. Taylor Marshall podcast available at https://amzn.to/3LoAmTc Books by Dr. Taylor Marshall available at https://amzn.to/3EEfxPQ  Protevangelium or Gospel of James available at https://amzn.to/3ZwTm81 Anne and Joachim books available at https://amzn.to/4dqh79E Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary items at https://amzn.to/4gQbQt0   ENJOY Ad-Free content, Bonus episodes, and Extra materials when joining our growing community on https://patreon.com/markvinet  SUPPORT this channel by purchasing any product on Amazon using this FREE entry LINK https://amzn.to/3POlrUD (Amazon gives us credit at NO extra charge to you).  Mark Vinet's TIMELINE video channel: https://youtube.com/c/TIMELINE_MarkVine                Mark's History of North America podcast: www.parthenonpodcast.com/history-of-north-america Website: https://markvinet.com/podcast Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mark.vinet.9 X (twitter): https://twitter.com/MarkVinet_HNA   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/denarynovels   Mark's books: https://amzn.to/3k8qrGM  Audio credits: Saint Of The Day podcast with Mike Roberts by Covenant Network (ourcatholicradio.org) Episode 87 - Memorial Of Saint Joachim And Saint Anne, July 26, 2026; The Saint of the Day podcast - St. Anne and St. Joachim, July 26, 2024 (Good Catholic and The Catholic Company); The Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary from the Protevangelium of James (Dr. Taylor Marshall podcast, episode 747). • 361. Nativity of Mary (commemoration) 08.09.2026 11m
September 8 annually celebrates The Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The date (marked on Roman Catholic Church, Byzantine Orthodox Church, and many Protestant Anglican & Lutheran calendars) falls exactly nine months after the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on December 8, which marks Mary's conception. Most saints are remembered on the anniversary of their death (their "birthday to heaven"), but the Church celebrates the physical birth ("nativity") of only three people: Jesus on December 25, St. John the Baptist on June 24, and the Blessed Virgin Mary on September 8. Christians view Mary's birth as the turning point that prepared the way for the arrival of Jesus Christ. The Bible does not mention Mary's birth. Instead, details about her parents, Sts. Joachim and Anne, come from early Christian tradition and the apocryphal Protoevangelium of James. Let’s explore the birth of Mary, mother of Jesus, using this same apocryphal text. September 7 is Labor Day, so let's revisit Jesus telling the story of a father who asks his two sons to work in his vineyard in the Gospel of Matthew (21:28-32). The first son initially refuses but later changes his mind and works. The second son agrees to work but then doesn't. The father's will is done by the first son, who repents and obeys, while the second son, who makes a false commitment, doesn't fulfill it. E242. • 357. St. Brocard Feast Day 02.09.2026 10m
September 2 is the annual commemoration of Saint Brocard (1170-1231). A group of Christian hermits led by St. Brocard settled on Mount Carmel—the biblical site associated with the Prophet Elijah (900-850 BC).
