  • Ep. 185: Hormone Replacement Therapy Is Back On The Table: What Every Woman Should Know with Deanna Woodroffe | Perimenopause | HRT | Hormone Balancing | Menopause | Hashimoto’s 04.09.2026 44min
Are you confused about hormone replacement therapy and knowing which hormones your body actually needs? How can you navigate perimenopause and menopause symptoms, bioidentical hormones, progesterone, estrogen, and testosterone without feeling overwhelmed by all the conflicting information? In this episode, I’m joined by women’s health nurse practitioner Deanna Woodroffe, who has been working with bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for more than 20 years. We’re getting into the details of what personalized hormone care actually looks like — from testing and choosing the right hormones to understanding why what works beautifully for one woman may make another woman feel worse. We also talk about something that I think gets missed far too often: hormones are only one piece of the puzzle. Stress, gut health, nutrition, magnesium, vitamin D, iron, and other factors can all influence how you feel and how your body responds to hormonal support. Deanna explains perfectly why hormone therapy often involves some trial and error, what symptoms may tell you that something needs to be adjusted, and why staying in communication with your provider is so important.Deanna and I have also both experienced something called progesterone intolerance, which affects a lot more women than you might think and comes with symptoms like mood changes, anxiety, brain fog, headaches, and more. We talk about different doses and delivery methods, alternatives like Vitex, and why there isn’t one hormone protocol that works for everyone. Finally, we get into DHEA and pregnenolone, different forms of hormone replacement therapy, and what happens when hormones improve some symptoms but don’t completely get you where you want to be. If you’re navigating perimenopause, menopause, or changing hormones and wondering how to make sense of all your options, this episode will help you understand why finding the right support is really about putting your individual health puzzle together.Disclaimer: This information is being provided to you for educational and informational purposes only. • Ep. 184: How Chronic Stress Impacts Your Hormones, Thyroid Health, and Adrenals with Dr. Andrew Neville | Hashimoto’s | Bucket Theory | Adrenal Fatigue | Fight or Flight | Stress and Thyroid 27.08.2026 49min
Are you struggling with adrenal fatigue, chronic stress, blood sugar imbalances, or symptoms that seem to get worse no matter what you do? Could an overwhelmed stress response system be affecting your thyroid health, hormones, energy, sleep, metabolism, and ability to heal?In this episode, I’m joined by Dr. Andrew Neville to take a deeper look at what we commonly call “adrenal fatigue” and what’s actually happening inside the body when we’ve been under too much stress for too long. We talk about how your adrenals, nervous system, limbic system, and thyroid are all connected, and why stress is about so much more than simply feeling overwhelmed.Dr. Neville breaks down the idea behind the “stress bucket” analogy and why physical, mental, emotional, and environmental stressors can build on one another over time. When that bucket gets too full, your nervous system can become increasingly sensitive and stuck in fight-or-flight, which may help explain why seemingly small stressors begin creating much bigger reactions in the body.I especially wanted to dig into the connection between chronic stress and thyroid health because this is something I see so often in women with Hashimoto’s. We talk about how the stress response can affect thyroid hormone production and conversion, why simply supporting the thyroid may not address the entire picture, and how cortisol and stress can also influence blood sugar, insulin resistance, weight, energy, and cravings. Most importantly, this conversation is about understanding why your body may be responding the way it is and finding ways to create more capacity for healing. Dr. Neville shares practical places to start, including focusing on reducing the stressors we can control, supporting more rest-and-digest activity, meditation and nervous system regulation, and keeping blood sugar more stable. You don’t have to eliminate every source of stress from your life, but you can start by creating a little more space in your “stress bucket” and supporting your body in the areas you can control.Disclaimer: This information is being provided to you for educational and informational purposes only. • Ep. 183: Should I Take Thyroid Medication? What Women With Hashimoto’s Need To Know with Dr. Jen Mann, ND | Thyroid Health | Thyroid Medication | Holistic Medicine | Tests For Hashimoto’s 20.08.2026 36min
Struggling with Hashimoto’s or hypothyroidism and wondering whether thyroid medication could actually help you feel better? How do you know which thyroid labs to test, whether you need T3 or T4, and if medication belongs in your thyroid healing journey? In this episode, I’m sitting down with Dr. Jen Mann, a naturopathic doctor who understands this struggle on a deeply personal level. Jen and I both experienced thyroid and gut issues from a young age, and we talk about what it’s like to spend years pushing through fatigue, depression, brain fog, digestive problems, and other symptoms before finally getting answers. We also dive into thyroid medication, a topic that is usually surrounded by a lot of confusion for women with thyroid disease. We break down the differences between T3 and T4, synthetic and compounded options, what your thyroid labs can tell you, and why how you actually feel matters just as much as the numbers on a piece of paper. Our goal is to take away some of the shame around needing medication and remind you that thyroid support doesn't have to be all-natural or all-medication. It can be both. And as always, we're looking beyond the thyroid itself. We talk about gut health, stress, hormones, nutrition, rest, and the other pieces that can influence how your body feels and functions. If you have Hashimoto's or hypothyroidism and you're tired of wondering whether you're doing the "right" thing, this episode will help you better understand your options and feel more empowered to find the approach that works for your body.Disclaimer: This information is being provided to you for educational and informational purposes only. Are you struggling with recurrent UTIs, bladder pain, or interstitial cystitis and wondering why the symptoms keep coming back? Could aloe vera, hormone support, and new approaches to women’s pelvic health offer better options for UTI prevention and chronic bladder symptoms? In this episode, I’m joined by Heather Florio, CEO of Desert Harvest and a leading advocate for women’s pelvic health. We’re talking about a topic that affects so many women but often doesn’t get the attention it deserves: chronic bladder symptoms and interstitial cystitis. Heather explains why IC can feel so much like a UTI that never goes away, why women can spend years searching for the right diagnosis, and what newer research is teaching us about the different causes of bladder and pelvic pain.We also get nerdy about aloe vera and the research behind using it to support the bladder lining, including what makes certain forms of aloe different from what you might find at the grocery or health food store. Heather walks us through the connection between bladder health and hormones, why symptoms may become more common during menopause and post-menopause, and how declining estrogen may affect the tissues of the bladder and pelvic region. And we don’t stop at interstitial cystitis. We talk about recurrent UTIs, why D-mannose may not address every type of UTI-causing bacteria, and some of the newer research Heather and her team are exploring around lactoferrin, endometriosis, iron balance, Hashimoto’s, and thyroid health. If you’ve been dealing with chronic bladder symptoms, pelvic pain, hormonal changes, or recurring UTIs and feel like you’re still searching for answers, this conversation will give you some fascinating new things to explore.Disclaimer: This information is being provided to you for educational and informational purposes only. Are you wondering if hormone replacement therapy is actually safe? Could hormone changes be affecting your weight, thyroid, heart health, and energy long before menopause officially begins? This week, I'm joined by board-certified OBGYN and menopause specialist Dr. Cathleen Brown to answer some of the biggest questions women have about perimenopause, menopause, and hormone replacement therapy. Many women don’t realize they begin experiencing perimenopause symptoms in their mid to late 30s, so we want to empower you with the right information about this phase of life before the symptoms hit you like a ton of bricks. In this episode, we unpack the confusion and misinformation surrounding HRT, explain why treatment isn't one-size-fits-all, and talk about how to know when it's time to seek support instead of waiting until your symptoms become overwhelming. We'll also explore why so many women experience weight gain, brain fog, fatigue, sleep issues, and thyroid changes during midlife, and why these symptoms are often connected to a drop in hormone production. Dr. Brown shares how she approaches hormone therapy, why symptom tracking often provides more useful information than just hormone lab tests, and what women should know about testosterone, DHEA, and the different forms of HRT available today. We discuss how menopause affects long-term health beyond hot flashes, including heart disease, bone health, and metabolic changes. We also talk about what to look for in a healthcare provider, how telemedicine is changing menopause care, and why every woman deserves individualized treatment and ongoing support throughout this transition. Whether you're already experiencing symptoms or simply want to prepare for what's ahead, this episode will help you better understand your options so you can go into menopause confident about how to take control of your hormone health.Disclaimer: This information is being provided to you for educational and informational purposes only. Have you been told your thyroid labs are "normal" but you still struggle with fatigue, brain fog, and weight gain? Could a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) uncover hidden mineral imbalances that are keeping your Hashimoto's or hypothyroidism symptoms from improving? In this episode, I'm taking you through a real client success story so you can see exactly how I use HTMA testing to connect the dots between someone’s symptoms and what's really happening inside their body. We’ll go through where this client started, what her test results revealed, and why those findings helped explain years of frustrating symptoms despite her doing everything “right.”I break down the key mineral patterns we found in her HTMA results, explain how they manifested in her body, outline the optimal levels of certain minerals, and show you how we built a personalized plan based on her results rather than relying on guesswork. I also share why I believe testing is one of the most important steps for creating a targeted healing plan, especially when you're dealing with Hashimoto's or hypothyroidism. Finally, we go over her progress over several months, what changed on her retesting, and the lessons you can take away for your own health journey. With HTMA testing, this is what's possible when you stop chasing symptoms and start understanding what your body is trying to tell you. I hope this episode helps inspire you to take that first step toward taking the guesswork out of your health and start on your own path toward optimized health. • Ep. 178: The Real Reason Why Breaking Emotional Eating Habits Feels Impossible with Amber Romaniuk | Binge Eating | Disordered Eating Patterns | Emotional Eating | Food Addiction | Nervous System Healing 09.07.2026 40min
How do you break free from emotional eating, binge eating, or food addiction when willpower isn't enough? Could hormone imbalances, nervous system dysregulation, childhood experiences, and hidden emotional triggers be the real reasons you're struggling with food?In this episode, I sit down with Amber Romaniuk to explore the real differences between emotional eating, binge eating, bulimia, and food addiction, and why understanding those distinctions is the first step toward lasting healing. Amber shares her deeply personal story of struggling with all of these challenges throughout her life, from the childhood experiences that shaped her relationship with food to the rock-bottom moment that inspired her to completely turn things around for the better. We talk about why dieting, restriction, and relying on willpower often only make the cycle worse, and how so many people blame themselves when the real issues go far beyond food. She also explains the root causes behind self-sabotage with food, and we discuss how hormone imbalances, neurotransmitter dysfunction, blood sugar instability, gut health, chronic stress, and nervous system dysregulation can all contribute to overwhelming cravings and loss of control around eating. We explore why simply changing what you eat isn't always enough, how to identify your personal triggers, and why building self-awareness, self-care, and emotional resilience creates a much stronger foundation for healing than chasing another diet ever could. If you've ever felt frustrated that you're doing everything "right" but still feel stuck with food challenges or your weight, this episode offers a compassionate, root-cause approach that can help you understand what's really happening beneath the surface.Disclaimer: This information is being provided to you for educational and informational purposes only. We discussed the many root causes that can contribute to histamine and MCAS symptoms, including mold exposure, gut dysfunction, chronic stress, hormone imbalances, environmental toxins, and nervous system dysregulation. Heather explained why some people respond well to a low-histamine diet while others continue reacting to foods, supplements, chemicals, and even everyday stressors. We also discussed the testing she uses to uncover hidden contributors and how she approaches putting all of the pieces together. One of my favorite parts of this conversation was our discussion around stabilization. We talked about why some people cannot tolerate detox protocols, supplements, or even basic interventions until their nervous system and mast cells are more supported. Heather shared how she helps clients build those foundations for healing, what signs indicate someone is ready to move forward, and why addressing root causes requires patience and the right sequence of steps. We also spent time talking about the powerful connection between the nervous system and chronic illness. Regulating the nervous system before going on an intensive healing journey is one of the most important steps to getting back to normalcy, so I’m so glad we got to talk about that in depth in this episode. Heather shared practical strategies for nervous system regulation, how chronic stress can keep symptoms stuck in place, and why healing often requires more than just supplements and protocols. If you've been struggling with histamine intolerance, MCAS, mold illness, unexplained symptoms, or feel like you've tried everything without answers, this conversation offers a thoughtful and hopeful perspective on what might be missing from the healing process.Disclaimer: This information is being provided to you for educational and informational purposes only. Why does bread in Europe not bother your gut the way it does in the United States — and what does glyphosate have to do with Hashimoto’s, hypothyroidism, and other serious health conditions? If wheat and dairy trigger inflammation, fatigue, anxiety, or loose stools at home, why can they feel totally fine abroad? In this episode, I share what happened when I recently spent two weeks in Spain and Portugal and ate gluten after being gluten-free for 14 years. Instead of feeling bloated, irritable, and anxious like I normally would after eating gluten, I actually felt completely fine. That’s right — no symptoms whatsoever. You’ve probably heard of others having similar experiences, but the science and history behind why this happens is fascinating. I explain why European wheat is different from U.S. wheat, and how the U.S. food system’s agricultural and dairy practices have created a perfect storm of problems since at least 1996. We’ll get into how glyphosate and other herbicides have infiltrated our food system, plus what the research says about gut bacteria disruption, intestinal permeability, and thyroid/endocrine impacts. There’s also a very real connection between glyphosate and non-Hodgkin lymphoma that has led to hundreds of thousands of lawsuits. Then we talk dairy: why the EU banned synthetic growth hormones, fatty acid profiles (grass-fed vs. grain-fed), and how mold-contaminated feed can contribute to issues that I often see show up in toxin testing. This may all seem like bad news from the U.S. perspective, but there are still things we can do here to protect our health without missing out on the good things in life. One major benefit of living in the U.S. is that there are unlimited options, and there are many swaps we can make that avoid the toxins and inflammatory ingredients. And maybe, this is even the sign you need to take that much-deserved vacation to test out Europe’s food system for yourself! • Ep. 175: Your Genetics Are Talking To You, Here’s How To Listen with Dr. Sam Shay | Genetics | Genetics Testing | Diet and Genes | Inflammation | Chronic Illness 11.06.2026 50min
Can genetics explain chronic gut issues, thyroid symptoms, inflammation, and why one person can “eat poorly” and feel fine while another does everything right and still struggles? What if your best diet depends on your genetic carb tolerance, plus things like caffeine and histamine sensitivity? On this episode of the She Talks Health Podcast, I sat down with Dr. Sam Shay to talk about how functional genetics can validate what you’ve probably felt in your body for years and give you a practical roadmap forward. We started things off with Dr. Shay’s story of being really unwell as a child, and how that pushed him to seek out his own information about his health. As a kid, he struggled with things like years of crippling insomnia, violence in school, and developing a caffeine habit at only 6 years old. His desire to find answers about his health struggles led him to specialize in genetics and train other practitioners in this modality.Later, we got into the details of what our genetics really tell us about our health. We discuss that inflammation is a major driver of chronic illness, and that “bad genes” are often really an environmental mismatch with evolutionary tradeoffs. So if you’re feeling as though you’re chronically inflamed but are doing everything “right”, your genetics might be the missing piece to the puzzle here.Your genetics can even tell you about how well you digest carbs, and who does better with lower vs higher carb diets. If you’ve ever tried a diet that made you feel completely messed up but didn’t know why, this could explain a lot for a lot of people. We also touched on genes related to caffeine-induced anxiety/depression, histamine sensitivity, and why Dr. Shay focuses on testing “drivers of disease” (like inflammation, free radicals/mitochondria, etc.) rather than disease markers themselves. Our genetics make up every part of us, but they’re rarely considered when it comes to chronic and “unexplainable” health problems. If you’ve ever dealt with chronic inflammation, unexplained weight gain, strange food intolerances, or even mental health issues, but your labs are always “normal,” the answers just might be in your genetics.Disclaimer: This information is being provided to you for educational and informational purposes only. • Ep. 174: Your Chronic Fatigue and Brain Fog Might Be A Dysregulated Nervous System with Miguel Bautista | Nervous System Regulation | Chronic Fatigue Syndrome | Healthy Habits | Nervous System Health | 28.05.2026 51min
Can nervous system regulation help chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and long COVID symptoms like brain fog, crashes, and fatigue? What if the root issue is a hypersensitive nervous system stuck in survival mode rather than another protocol you need to stack? On this episode of the She Talks Health Podcast, I sat down with Miguel Bautista, founder of CFS Recovery, to talk about nervous system-driven chronic conditions and why “doing more” can backfire when your system is already overwhelmed.Miguel shared his personal recovery story from years of escalating symptoms, being bedridden and then hospitalized, and the turning point when a doctor finally explained that his symptoms weren’t random, but signals from a nervous system on high alert. We talked about how long COVID, chronic fatigue syndrome, and fibromyalgia can look incredibly similar, often differing mainly by the trigger, and why trying to overdo recovery can actually flare symptoms even more.Miguel explained the “nervous system threshold” idea, when life stressors, perfectionism, and self-pressure max out your capacity, your body starts sending louder signals to force a slowdown. We also unpacked why your response to symptoms matters so much for nervous system regulation. Fear, frustration, and catastrophic thinking can fuel the same loop that keeps symptoms going — and that’s why we always say to stop obsessively Googling your symptoms! We also discussed how recovery becomes more predictable through education, stopping the cycle of obsessive symptom tracking, and gradually building physical, cognitive, and emotional capacity through repeatable “progress cycles.”If you’ve been dealing with chronic fatigue, a dysregulated nervous system, chronic stress, or any symptom that has you feeling stuck with no clear answers, this episode will shed so much light on what could possibly going on. I hope this episode points you toward chronic fatigue recovery and a more symptom-free future.Disclaimer: This information is being provided to you for educational and informational purposes only. How are hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s related to your risk of having high cholesterol and heart disease? What symptoms have you normalized that might actually be your body asking for help?In this Thyroid Thursday episode, I share what recently happened when my Dad landed in the hospital and ultimately needed open-heart surgery for a triple bypass after doctors found major arterial blockages. This is a vulnerable episode for me, but it comes with great advice on handling unexpected life events and how they relate to your own health management. So get ready for some deep emotions, but also deep insights into why it’s never too late to start taking our health more seriously.I talk about the fear and overwhelm of getting to Florida in time, what it was like watching him go through surgery and early recovery, and how grateful I am that he’s doing well now. From this experience, there are 6 big lessons that changed how I’m showing up in my life and work. As I go through them, I also invite you to think of areas in your own life and health journey that can use some immediate action today.Since this is Thyroid Thursday, we can’t finish an episode without getting a little clinical and science-y. I talk a little bit about the thyroid–heart connection and how the thyroid is closely connected to cholesterol. I explain why, when someone has high cholesterol, I want to see a full thyroid panel (not just TSH), and why treating cholesterol without addressing thyroid function can miss the root issue.I close with a reminder to get the right testing and support now, listen to your body early, release perfectionism, and focus on consistent compassion and action—because we can’t buy back time. And as always, getting your stress and emotional well-being under control is one of the best things we can do to support our overall health today.Disclaimer: This information is being provided to you for educational and informational purposes only. Can mindset and habit change improve autoimmune disease outcomes like Hashimoto’s and multiple sclerosis? Why is consistency so hard with chronic illness and fluctuating energy, and how do you build healthy habits that actually stick? On this episode of the She Talks Health Podcast, I sat down with Dr. Amy Behimer, a doctor of pharmacy-turned autoimmune health coach, to talk about why the chronic, progressive, debilitating story around diagnoses like MS isn’t the whole picture of autoimmunity.Amy has had four autoimmune diagnoses since age 17, with her MS diagnosis at 27 becoming the wake-up call that led her to action to improve her quality of life. From this, she’s built her autoimmune coaching business, developed supportive frameworks, and guided people to tap into their own expertise rather than be “another expert in a white coat.”We also talked about why people think needing help with the autoimmune journey means they’ve failed, when it can actually be the thing that helps you see your blind spots and put what you know into practice. Amy explained how redefining autoimmune health matters, because if health only means “absence of disease,” it can feel hopeless. Instead, we can focus on creating stronger metabolic, gut, emotional, and mental health while still acknowledging that our symptoms are real. Finally, we get into the critical step of consistency and habit change. Amy’s “trust in the tiny” approach emphasizes that small actions matter more than all-or-nothing attitudes. Her ABC Habit Playbook makes habit shifts approachable and easy to implement in real life. She also walked through her Habit Hub framework that helps us reroute around roadblocks and learn to make friends with negative emotions without letting them define the quality of our lives.Disclaimer: This information is being provided to you for educational and informational purposes only. • Ep. 171: Your Hashimoto’s Symptoms Could Actually Be Caused By Leaky Gut | Thyroid Health | Leaky Gut | Autoimmunity | Hashimotos | Root Cause | 30.04.2026 34min
Why do so many women with Hashimoto’s and hypothyroidism still feel exhausted, bloated, anxious, and foggy even when their labs look “normal” on thyroid medication? How do leaky gut, SIBO, H. pylori, parasites, chronic stress, and even gluten connect to thyroid inflammation and autoimmune flares? In this week’s Thyroid Thursday episode, I lay out what I see every week in my practice: women doing “everything right,” taking their meds, eating right, exercising regularly, and still feeling awful. Many of them are still experiencing hair loss, stubborn weight changes, constipation and/or diarrhea, food sensitivities, anxiety, depression, and fatigue that sleep just doesn’t help. They’re told they’re fine, yet their symptoms keep piling up, and they end up stuck between multiple specialists who never connect the dots. I explain what “leaky gut” actually means, why ongoing gut inflammation doesn’t just stay in the gut, and how it can contribute to autoimmune flares like Hashimoto’s. We talk about common drivers I see behind a compromised gut lining, like overgrowths and infections, chronic stress and low vagal tone, gluten’s immune impact and molecular mimicry, nutrient depletion, and environmental exposures like mold.If you suspect leaky gut might be linked to your thyroid issues, or you have a lot of the symptoms mentioned in the episode, I leave you with some practical tips for getting tested, information on why we test and don’t guess, and changes we can make after getting tested that will really move the needle on your health journey.Disclaimer: This information is being provided to you for educational and informational purposes only. • Ep 170: These Nervous System Regulators Can Change Your Relationship With Food with Sherry Shaban | Diet Culture | Nervous System | Fight or Flight | Women’s Health | Hormone Imbalance | Hunger & Hormones 23.04.2026 44min
Are you dealing with thyroid symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, constipation, and depression, and still feeling out of control around food? How does nervous system regulation affect cravings, cortisol, insulin, sleep, and hormones, especially if you’re in fight or flight mode around dieting and exercising? This week on the She Talks Health podcast, I sat down with Sherry Shaban from Make Peace With Food to talk to you about why having “all the knowledge” around diet and exercise still doesn’t create sustainable results if your nervous system is stuck in protection mode. Sherry shared how her obsession with finding the “right” way to eat led her through every diet fad imaginable — low-fat, calorie-counting, Atkins, paleo, macros counting, keto, and even veganism — until the constant rule changes resulted in stress, secrecy, and binge eating issues. We talked about the nervous system as the “software” running the body, and how our thoughts can control so much of how we feel and react to things that happen to us. Sherry also called out how the phrase “nervous system regulation” has become overused in our industry, so regulation can become another form of perfectionism or avoidance if we’re trying to erase uncomfortable emotions instead of learning to sit with them.Sherry also broke down how chronic stress keeps cortisol elevated beyond its normal rhythm, and why that can drive cravings for refined carbs and salty/sugary foods. The real rollercoaster often comes from insulin spikes and drops, creating more cravings, and this cascade can disrupt sleep and dysregulate hunger and fullness hormones. We close things out talking about why the most disciplined, “go-getter” women often struggle the most. Perfectionism, people-pleasing, and overachievement as trauma responses, and even dopamine rewards, can reinforce the cycle of bad habits. Sherry emphasized that less is more, rather than obsessing over calories and macros. If we can get out of a perfectionist headspace and take small steps toward healthier habits, we can get sustainable results that still give us the reinforcement we need to keep going.Disclaimer: This information is being provided to you for educational and informational purposes only. • Ep. 169: Functional Medicine Red Flags: 5 Things To Look For In a Functional Medicine Practitioner | Thyroid Health | Root Cause Healing | Chronic Illness | Holistic Health | 09.04.2026 22min
How do you choose a functional practitioner for thyroid health you can actually trust? What should you ask before paying for functional lab testing for gut issues like SIBO, food sensitivities, and hormone imbalance? In this Thyroid Thursday episode, I shared why I’ve been seeing so many women feel deeply let down after investing in “root cause” care, especially when they’re handed confusing results, given a restrictive diet, and then left without real explanation or a clear protocol. Functional health world can feel like the wild, wild west. There’s no standardized training across all practitioners, but that doesn’t mean the approach isn’t powerful and I’m living proof of that. But, it does mean discernment matters more than ever. That’s why I built She Thrives so clients get immediate access to their labs, a full walkthrough explanation, and a comprehensive protocol that explains the “why,” not just the “what.” We’ll walk through the steps of what I’d look for when hiring a practitioner: a true partnership , integrity and willingness to pivot, relevant experience with what you’re dealing with, transparent methods, and high-quality testing with a clear plan for what happens after results come in. And I said the quiet part out loud—your readiness matters too. Healing is a participation sport, and we don’t want to give our power away to anyone. Blind trust isn’t wise; discernment is essential, and you deserve someone who goes all in with you. • Ep. 168: Uncomplicating Wellness in a Sea of Women’s Health Advice with Jenn Trepeck | Wellness Culture | Nutrition News | Health Coach | Women’s Health | Bio Stacking | Hypothyroidism 26.03.2026 45min
How do you know what health advice to follow when you’re fatigued, bloated, constipated, and overwhelmed by TikTok, Instagram, and conflicting provider opinions? Are biohacks like cold plunges, red light, and endless supplements actually helping—or are you missing the foundational “bio stack” that makes everything work?In this episode of the She Talks Health podcast, I sat down with Jen Trepeck, a health and lifestyle coach, host of the award-winning podcast Salad with a Side of Fries, and author of Uncomplicated Wellness, to talk about why the wellness world has become so noisy. I shared what clients are searching for when looking for answers about their health (fatigue, bloating, missing periods, constipation, hypothyroidism, estrogen dominance, mold, parasites, and more) and how many people now show up having tried every diet, piles of supplements, and trendy routines, yet they’re more confused than ever. Jen opened up about her own story of growing up around dieting, gaining weight between high school and college, and cycling through restriction until she learned how the body actually works with food and got on the same team as her body. We talked about how to filter wellness noise by going back to what you already know to be true for you, stopping the habit of outsourcing decision-making, and checking bias—who wrote the headline, who funded the study, and what we personally want to believe. We also went deep into her key concept: bio stacking over biohacking. Jen explained that biohacks are marginal improvements, which can be great if your foundation is strong, but most people aren’t even hitting the most basic foundations of health. Her “bio stack” foundation includes fuel, movement, hydration, sleep, stress, and connection, and the goal is to experiment and observe real feedback from your body instead of chasing perfection. Jen’s hope with her book, Uncomplicated Wellness, is that it helps you relax, define wellness for yourself, and build a plan that supports your health without opting out of real life. When we start listening to our bodies and tuning out the nutrition news that doesn’t work for us, we can finally start building on our foundations of health and find normalcy again. • Ep 167: Decoding the New Food Pyramid For Hashimoto’s and Thyroid Problems | Food Pyramid | Nutrition Guidelines | Health Literacy | Nutrition Headlines | 19.03.2026 21min
Are you confused by the new food pyramid and wondering what it means for your thyroid, gut health, and metabolic health? How do you sort through nutrition headlines without adding your own bias? In this solo episode, I share a little about how I like to think about new nutrition news — why you can’t just read the headline, why bias (including industry funding and our own preferences) matters, and why the pyramid won’t apply the same way to everyone. I talk through what I like about the updates, like reducing the old 6–11 servings of grains recommendation and emphasizing a more protein-rich diet, which is especially beneficial for our autoimmune and Hashimoto’s people. Plus, what I question — especially the saturated fat messaging and the heavy emphasis on dairy.I also explain why vegetables and micronutrients matter so much, where legumes could’ve gotten more attention, how carnivore dieters fit into the conversation, and why I still love the plate method as a practical starting point for visualizing a healthy diet. The bottom line: put your health detective hat on, watch your symptoms, and use real testing like HTMA, blood work, genetics, and stool testing, to get clear on what your body actually needs. There is no one-size-fits-all answer to health and nutrition, so the new food pyramid should be used simply as another tool to help guide you toward optimal health and nutrition for you.Disclaimer: This information is being provided to you for educational and informational purposes only.
