  • 132 | Low Self-Esteem? Why Your Inner Critic Won’t Shut Up {TEENS} 18.09.2026 14min
Hey doll,You know that voice that finds the one flaw in every good thing? The comment you replay, the missed shot instead of the ones you made, the invite that feels more like being squeezed in than actually wanted? That’s your inner critic, and today we’re talking about why it never actually clocks out. Here’s what I wish someone had told me as a teen: that voice isn’t cruel for no reason, it’s running an audit. It’s grading everything you do against a bar that keeps moving, which means you can do everything right and it still finds something to dock you for. I know that audit inside and out. No matter how many free throws I made, my brain replayed the ones I missed. No matter how included I was, part of me felt like an afterthought. So today we’re not trying to out-perform the critic. We’re talking about anchoring yourself in something it can’t touch. What You’ll Learn in This Episode: - Why your inner critic isn’t being cruel, it’s auditing your performance - Why trying harder never actually quiets it down - What Hebrews 6:19-20 means by calling hope an anchor for the soul - The one question to ask instead of arguing back with the critic - Why your worth was anchored before you ever did a single thing to earn itThis week, the next time that voice hands down a verdict, don’t argue with it point by point. Just ask it one question: is this anchored in truth, or is this just you, doing what you always do?Next time, we’re staying In the Car, talking about what “how was your day” actually gets you and what to ask instead.xo, Kristen🎧 If this one hit home, follow or subscribe so the next episode finds you too.WANNA GO DEEPER, BABY SIS? • 131 | Overthinking Again? The 10-Second Trick Every Teen Girl Needs {TEENS} 15.09.2026 14min
Hey doll! You know that feeling right before a spiral starts? Your brain gets buzzy, your chest gets tight, and out of nowhere it feels like every single person around you is watching, waiting to see if you’re gonna mess this up. Maybe it’s not even a big moment: a test, a text still sitting on delivered, the way somebody looked at you in the hallway. Doesn’t matter. Your brain treats it like the whole thing is riding on you.In this one, I’m getting real about my own version of that story: figure-8 drills in basketball practice, and the lengths I’d go to so nobody would ever see me struggle. Spoiler, nobody was actually watching that closely. My inner critic just liked to convince me otherwise. Then we get practical. I’m walking you through something you can use the second you feel a spiral coming on, and it’s physical, not just another thought to think. What You’ll Learn in This Episode: - Why you can’t think your way out of a spiral (and what actually works instead) - The question to ask before the spiral even starts: what am I trying to prove, and to who - How to build your own breath prayer, using my go-to verse as an example - Why prepping this ahead of time matters more than figuring it out mid-spiralOne step this week: pick your breath prayer phrase now, before you need it. Write it down somewhere you’ll actually see it. Not sure where to start? Take the quiz, it’ll match you with a scripture guide for your specific type of anxious.Next time, we’re talking about the inner critic, that voice that convinces you the whole room is watching when nobody ever said a word. We’re gonna talk back to it.xo, Kristen🎧 If this helps you catch a spiral before it started, follow/subscribe so the next episode finds you too.WANNA GO DEEPER, BABY SIS? • 130 | Stressed Out? The Pressure Teen Girls Feel But No One Sees {TEENS} 11.09.2026 15min
You feel stressed and you can’t even explain why. From the outside you look completely fine, good grades, good friend, showing up at church. But inside, something’s off, and you can’t point to one clear reason. Here’s what nobody talks about: if you’re a Christian teen girl, you’re not just carrying the normal overthinking, overstimulation stress that everyone your age deals with. You’ve got an extra layer on top. The pressure to perform for the Lord, to be the good example for your church friends and family, to have it all together spiritually on top of everything else.Today we’re naming that pressure and giving you something real to do with it.What You’ll Learn in This Episode: - Why Christian teen girls carry a double layer of stress that most people never talk about - The real tension between wanting to fit in and being called to be set apart - A simple nightly tool called Name the Good, and why writing it down (not typing it) matters - What 1 Corinthians 13:12 has to do with not having it all figured out yet - One thing you can do tonight to start building a list you can lean on laterOne step this week: Grab a notebook. • 129 | Can't Talk to Your Mom About Anxiety? Ask This {IN THE CAR WITH MOM} 08.09.2026 15min
This one is for both of you. Put it on speaker. There is a conversation you two have been circling for months. Both of you know it is sitting there. Neither one of you opens it. So you get the forty minute drive and about ninety seconds of real information, and everybody keeps breathing. Here is what is actually happening. One of you is scared of being a disappointment. The other one is scared of not knowing how to help. Same fear, two different outfits. And “fine” is a relief for both of you, which is exactly why it keeps working. So today we are facing the elephant in the room. Or the car. Or wherever y’all are listening from. This is a short one, but I am going to give each of you one question and make you actually answer it out loud, right there, to each other. Not tonight. Now.What You’ll Learn in This Episode: Why “how was your day” gets you “fine” every single time, and what to ask instead The one question your daughter is scared to ask you, and why counting to ten before you answer it changes everything The one question you are scared to answer, and why “I don’t know” isn’t the truth The three rules that keep this from turning into a fight in a moving vehicle: no fixing, no defending, no “but” Why being quiet was never a verdict on your parenting, and what to do with what she tells you Your one thing this week: Mom, next time you see it on her face, do the specific thing she named in the car. Do not improve it, do not add to it, just do it. Doll, tell her one thing you were going to round down. Just one.Friday - doll, that one is yours. We are getting into the stressed out feeling you cannot explain, where somebody asks what is wrong and you have got nothing. There is pressure on you nobody else can see, and I am going to help you name it.xo, KristenFollow the show wherever you are listening. • 128 | Intrusive Thoughts in Christian Teen Girls: How to Fight Back {TEENS} 08.09.2026 15min
That thought that just showed up out of nowhere? The one that said your friend group only tolerates you, or that you always come in second because somebody is always smarter, more talented, more athletic? You didn’t choose to think that. It landed on you. Here’s what I need you to know first: a thought showing up in your head is not proof that something is wrong with you, and it is not your fault. In this episode we talk about what an intrusive thought actually is, why I believe the Enemy uses them on purpose to keep you stuck in your own head, and the three step tool that lets you fight back with something better than positive thinking. We’re sitting in 2 Corinthians 10:5, and I’m going to show you why “take every thought captive” is the most practical verse in your Bible. What You’ll Learn in This Episode: What an intrusive thought actually is, in plain terms, and what it isn’t Why a thought that feels true is not the same thing as a thought that is true The CCS tool: catch it, call it, swap it, in about three seconds Why arguing with the thought never works, and replacing it does Why these hit hardest when you’re tired, and why that is not a flaw in you This week, your one brave thing: the next time one of those thoughts lands, don’t debate it. Run CCS on it one time. Catch it, that was a thought. Call it, that’s not a fact. Swap it, here’s what’s actually true. Just once, and notice what happens when you stop treating that thing like information. On Friday we’re getting in the car, and it’s one for you and your mom to listen to together. • 127 | You Can’t Think Your Way Out of Anxiety. Try This 90-Second Reset Instead! {TEENS} 01.09.2026 14min
You cannot think your way out of anxiety. If you've ever sat in a desk before a test, running “you studied, you are fine, it is just a test” on a loop and feeling worse every single lap, this one is for you.I was the girl whose stomach rolled before state testing. Not nervous. Physically ill, on the verge of throwing up, praying nobody looked over. And I was trying so hard to reason my way to calm. It never worked, not one time, because the brain is the thing that is spinning. Asking it to fix itself is like asking the fire to put out the fire. What I didn't have at fifteen was something simple to actually do. Today I'm giving you the whole framework I teach my clients, all five steps of the PEACE Plan, start to finish, nothing held back. Five steps. Ninety seconds. Something you can run between classes, before the test, or standing in a bathroom stall. What You’ll Learn in This Episode: Why trying to reason with anxiety makes it louder instead of quieter All five steps of the PEACE Plan, walked in order What you are actually afraid of before a test, and it is not the questions How to pray the real thing instead of the polite version Why peace is not a feeling you wait for Your one step this week: Do not wait until you are falling apart to try it. Run the five steps once tonight while you are calm, so your body already knows them when you actually need them.Coming Friday: Intrusive thoughts, and why having them does not mean something is wrong with you.xo, KristenFollow the show so it shows up for you every week.LET’S CONNECT! 🕊️ Free PEACE Plan Playbook: anxiouschristianteen.com/peace 🩶 Free community: anxiouschristianteen.com/community ❓ What Type of Anxious Teen Girl Are You?: anxiouschristianteen.com/quiz
  • 126 | Why Doesn't Peace in the Bible Feel Like Peace to You? {TEENS} 28.08.2026 13min
When's the last time you actually felt peaceful? Not distracted, not tired into numbness, but peaceful? If you're anything like I was at your age, that answer might be "I don't really know." Somewhere along the way, most of us got taught that peace is something you get to after you've done enough, after the grade's good, after the group chat feels safe again, after the outfit's right. So we keep proving, and peace stays three steps ahead like it's always about to arrive. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why peace keeps feeling out of reach no matter how much you get done The lie that says "I'll feel okay once ___" and why the blank never gets filled What Matthew 11:28-30 actually says about rest, not reward Why God's peace is soul-deep, not just relief for the moment The one shift that moves you from proving to receiving This week's one step: The next time you catch yourself thinking "I'll feel okay once ___," stop and finish that sentence out loud. Then hand it to God instead.Tuesday, we go deeper: the full PEACE Plan framework, how to get out of your head in under five minutes, wherever you are.xo, Kristen🎧 If this met you where you are, follow the show so the next one finds you too.LET'S CONNECT! 🕊️ Free PEACE Playbook: anxiouschristianteen.com/peace 🩶 Free community: anxiouschristianteen.com/community ❓ What Type of Anxious Teen Girl Are You?: anxiouschristianteen.com/quiz
  • 125 | How a Teen Can Talk to Her Mom About Anxiety Without Faking It {IN THE CAR WITH MOM} 25.08.2026 21min
What if you are both trying to prove something to each other? If there are two of you in that car right now, you are probably both performing. Mom is working hard to look like she has the answers. Daughter is working just as hard to look like she is fine. And you are sitting three feet apart, burning yourselves out trying to be okay in front of each other. Here is the part that gets me: all that proving is not doing the actual thing. Nobody is getting the support she needs. Nobody is learning the skills she is missing. It is just two tired people managing an image. In this episode I am giving you one tool, and it is the same tool for both of you. It is called Pause the Proving, and there is a spot in the middle where I am going to ask you to hit pause and actually say something out loud to each other. In the car. Yes, really. And before anybody gets defensive, I will tell you about the time I completely missed panic attacks in my own kid, while working as a school counselor who spots anxiety in teen girls for a living. What You’ll Learn in This Episode: Why moms and daughters both end up performing, and how it quietly raises anxiety instead of lowering it The one fear underneath both sides of the car (it is the same fear wearing different clothes) The Pause the Proving tool, with a specific move for mom and a specific move for daughter Why “I do not have all the answers” makes you stronger in her eyes, not weaker What honest vulnerability actually looks like for a teen girl (hint: it is one sentence, not a breakdown) Your one step this week: One true sentence. That is it. One of you says one honest thing to the other one before Friday. It can be at the kitchen counter with your back turned, loading the dishwasher. That counts.Coming up Friday: We are talking about what peace in the Bible actually is, and why it is not a feeling you sit around waiting for. • 124 | Anxiety Coping Skills Wore Off by Second Period? Here's Why {TEENS} 21.08.2026 22min
Somebody told you to breathe. Maybe it was me. And you tried it, right there in second period, four counts in and four counts out, and your chest was still tight and your face was still hot and nothing happened. So you closed the app. You stopped reaching for it. And somewhere in the back of your head you decided it doesn't work on you. That's not what happened, doll. The anxiety coping skills you've been handed are good ones. But nobody sat you down and told you the part that actually matters: a coping skill has a window. There's a moment where it works, and there's a moment where you're too far past it. And if nobody teaches you the difference, it's going to feel like you're the thing that's broken. In this episode I'm telling you about ninth grade, my favorite red, white and blue checked pants, and the day I hid in a bathroom because the breathing didn't save me. Then I walked back into class and pulled out my geometry book, because nobody questions a girl hunched over geometry. We're covering the three real reasons the tools wore off, and the one thing running underneath all three that nobody talks about. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why one attempt at a coping skill was never a fair test of whether it works The difference between doing the thing and actually doing the thing, and why half-hearted breathing never had a chance Why a calm body plus the same old lie is exactly why your peace wears off by second period The timing piece nobody teaches you, and why you keep reaching for the tool too late How to pair a coping skill with truth so it holds longer than a hallway Your one step this week: Catch your four. One time this week, before anything is wrong, notice what a four feels like in your body. Your shoulders, your jaw, your stomach, the rereading. Find your tell. You can't reach for a tool at a four if you've never once noticed what a four feels like.Coming up Tuesday: an In the Car episode for you and your mom, about what happens when you're both sitting there trying to prove something to each other. She's proving she's got it handled. You're proving you're fine. • 123 | How to Get Over a Breakup & Feel Like Yourself Again {TEENS} 18.08.2026 16min
Hey doll, this one came from you. One of you asked for this exact episode, so if that’s you, I hope you feel how much I mean it when I say I see you. 🫶🏻 Because right now you might be lying awake replaying the hallway, a text, a look on his face, wondering what you could’ve done differently. Or you’re doing your hair and makeup for school, not because you feel like it, but because some part of you is trying to prove something to someone who’s not even watching anymore.I’ve been there. Not in theory. In the actual crying yourself to sleep, forcing yourself to get ready anyway kind of there. So today we’re talking about how to actually get over a breakup and feel like yourself again, not fake fine, not just distract and hope, actually feel like you. What You’ll Learn in This Episode: - Why a breakup can hit way harder than people expect, and what your brain is actually doing about it - What grief for a relationship can honestly look like (it’s not a straight line) - A tool to set a real, visible deadline for the wallowing, without rushing the grief itself - Why rebuilding through hobbies and new things matters more than you think, especially right now - How to lean on your people without needing them to hold the whole thing togetherThis week, your one step: pull out your calendar today and pick your date. Circle it, highlight it, bold it, whatever makes it impossible to ignore. That’s not a deadline on your grief, it’s a deadline on the wallowing.Friday we’re getting into why the coping skills you’ve already tried keep falling apart the second you actually need them, so don’t miss that one.love ya mean it,Kristen🎧 If this one helped, follow the show so the next episode finds you too.LET’S CONNECT! 🕊️ Free PEACE Playbook: anxiouschristianteen.com/peace 🩶 Free community: anxiouschristianteen.com/community ❓ What Type of Anxious Teen Girl Are You?: anxiouschristianteen.com/quiz

Hey mama. If it's late and you're up searching for this, you are not failing her. You're paying attention, and that's everything. How do you know if what you're seeing is normal teen stuff or something more? That's the question underneath this episode. Because so many of the girls who are struggling the most are also the ones who look, from the outside, like they've got it all together. In this episode, we talk about why her hiding isn't dishonesty, it's fear of disappointing you. We unpack the three pulls she's juggling at once (you, her peers, and her faith), and why "I'm fine" so often means she wants to be seen, not fixed. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why the quiet, high-achieving daughter can be the one struggling most The real reason she hides what she's feeling from you (hint: it's not dishonesty) The three pressures she's balancing at once, and why that's exhausting What "I'm fine" actually means when her smile doesn't reach her eyes One simple shift in how you respond that can open the door back up This week, try this: the next time she says "I'm fine" and you're not so sure, just say, "Okay. I'm here whenever you're ready." • 121 | Perfectionism Isn't Real: You're Scared You're Not Enough {TEENS} 11.08.2026 17min
Hey doll, be honest with yourself for a second. Have you ever built a whole color-coded timeline for one test? Studied for hours after you already knew the material cold? Talked your mom into quizzing you one more time before bed, then still couldn't sleep because there was "just a little more" to cram in? If any of that sounds familiar, I need you to hear this: that's not dedication. That's anxiety wearing a really convincing outfit. In this episode, I'm walking you through why perfectionism isn't actually a personality trait, it's fear doing math, where anything less than 100% gets filed as total failure. We're talking about the straight A's that never quite feel like enough, the bubble guts before a test gets handed back, and what's really going on underneath all that overplanning. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why perfectionism is anxiety, not a personality trait or high standards The "100% or failure" math that's driving the pressure you feel Why the proof never actually lands, even when you make the grade What overplanning is really doing for you (hint: it's not studying) Where your worth actually comes from, and why no grade gets a vote This week, your one step: the next time you catch yourself overplanning something that's already handled, stop and ask, "Am I preparing, or am I just trying to outrun a feeling?" And come back Friday, because we're talking to the moms about this exact thing, the girls who look like they have it all together, and what's actually going on underneath.xo,Kristen🎧 Loving the podcast? • 120 | When Your Teen Daughter Says 'I'm Fine': How to Talk About Anxiety Symptoms Together {IN THE CAR WITH MOM} 07.08.2026 18min
She said "I'm fine." You don't believe her. She's not sure she believes herself.I was that girl in the passenger seat. On the way to a basketball game, stomach churning, so tense I thought I might be sick. My mom, who loved me, gave me a pep talk. I didn't say a word back. I shut down and looked out the window the whole rest of the way.She wasn't wrong to try. It just wasn't what I needed. I didn't need to be motivated. I needed somebody to listen. This one's for both of you at the same time, mom and daughter, right there in the car. Because the problem is almost never that she won't talk. It's when you're asking, how you're sitting, and what words you're using. What You'll Learn in This Episode: What "I'm fine" actually means, and why it's usually not a lie Why the moment you most want to ask is the worst possible time to ask The reason hard conversations go better in the car than across the kitchen table Why using her slang closes the door instead of opening it What a girl needs before she needs advice Your one step this week: Mom, take one drive and don't ask her anything. Not one question. Her music, eyes on the road, let the quiet sit. Baby sis, one time this week, swap "I'm fine" for "I don't know how to say it yet."Tuesday, we're talking about the girl who calls herself a perfectionist. High standards, likes things done right. Hey doll - be honest for a second. Are you already dreading the first day of school? And are you doing it quietly, where nobody around you would ever guess?I was that girl. Tenth grade, geometry on my schedule, my bestie in a different class, and a zit on my chin I was convinced the entire school was about to notice. And you'd never have known a single bit of it, because I put on a face. I always wore a mask. Here's what kept me stuck the longest: I thought my face was working, and I thought everybody else's face was real. In this episode I'm walking you through two things - why nobody in that building is watching you as closely as you're watching yourself, and what to do with the parts of your schedule that didn't go your way. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why the girls who look the most "fine" are often the ones struggling the most What's actually running through your head the morning you walk in looking totally normal Why the girl you're sure has it all together is doing the exact same math about you How to flip the script on the schedule, locker, or lunch period you didn't want The baby steps that absolutely count as brave when you're already managing anxiety This week, pick one baby step for day one. • 114 | Peace That Doesn't Make Sense: How Christian Teen Girls Calm Anxiety 17.07.2026 14min
Ever been overwhelmed by everything at once — the group chat, the test, the friend who went quiet — and had someone tell you to "just have peace about it"? Like peace is a switch and you're the only one who never found it?In this episode we sit in Philippians 4:6-7 and talk about the kind of peace that doesn't make sense on paper — the calm that shows up while everything is still messy — plus a simple tool to calm the anxiety the second it hits. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why "just calm down" never works when you're overwhelmed Why feeling anxious doesn't mean your faith is weak What Philippians 4:6-7 actually says about peace (hint: it's an invitation, not a scolding) The "Name It and Hand It" tool for the moment the wave hits Why God's peace is a guard, not a mood you have to force This week, your one brave thing: the next time everything feels like too much, don't try to fix it all — name it, and hand it over to God, out loud. You're not a weak Christian for feeling overwhelmed. You're a girl learning to hand it over — and that's strength, not failure.xo,Kristen 🎧 Follow/subscribe so you don't miss a thing.LET'S CONNECT! 🎓 Save your seat for the FREE Ditch Back-to-School Anxiety Masterclass: anxiouschristianteen.com/back2school (7/29/26 at 7pm CST) 🫶🏻 Free community: anxiouschristianteen.com/community ❓ What Type of Anxious Teen Girl Are You? • 113 | "What If" to "Even If": Finding Peace from Panic Attacks & People-Pleasing {Guest Ashanti Watson} 14.07.2026 25min
Have you ever been the girl who looks totally fine on the outside — smiling, showing up, holding it all together — while inside you're panicking and praying nobody notices? My guest this week, Ashanti Watson, lived exactly that. She was the sunshine in every room while quietly having four and five panic attacks a day, carrying a shame she thought she had to hide.In this episode, Ashanti shares the moment everything shifted — a breakdown in her car that became a turning point — and the simple, powerful tools she used to trade fear-based thinking for faith-based thinking. If your brain runs on "what if," this one's going to feel like a breath of fresh air. What You'll Learn in This Episode Why anxiety can hide behind a smile — and why "just pray about it" leaves so many faith-filled girls feeling ashamed instead of helped How people-pleasing and "good girl syndrome" quietly get fueled by the fear of rejection The "what if" → "even if" reframe (straight out of Daniel 3) that settles anxiety in the moment A simple self-awareness question — "What is good right now?" — to ground yourself when panic rises and you can't even name why What real faith actually looks like (hint: it's not being happy and positive all the time) The line worth framing: "Do your best and let God handle the rest." Take This Into Your WeekThe next time your mind starts spinning out with "what if she doesn't like me" or "what if it all goes wrong," try catching that thought and swapping in "even if." Even if it doesn't work out, God's got another plan. Even if it's hard, you're still going to be okay. You don't have to control the outcome — that part was never yours to carry. Do your best, and let God handle the rest.xo, Kristen🎧 If this episode spoke to you, follow the show so you never miss one, and share it with a friend who needs to hear it.CONNECT WITH ASHANTI WATSON: Podcast: Get Free from Anxiety Check out the episode mentioned in today's episode: 136 | How to Stop the “What If” Spiral Before It Begins and Keep It From Coming Back Facebook group: Anxiety Support for Christian Women Her weekly email newsletter — real, faith-based tips for changing your thinking and growing your faith If you have a mom, aunt, or another woman in your life who struggles with anxiety, Ashanti is my number-one recommendation for her!CONNECT WITH KRISTEN Ready for support that gets it? 1:1 coaching → anxiouschristianteen.com/coaching Facebook group → anxiouschristianteen.com/community What Type of Anxious Teen Girl Are You?
