  • How are you doing - Guest Post by Pastor Jason Lang 12.09.2026 28min
Someone asks how you are doing. You say fine. You both move on. Fine is not an emotion. And most of the time, it is not the truth either. This bonus episode is a little different. Instead of a book review, I am sharing a sermon from my church, because this message applies to everyone. It is the full meaning of "how are you doing?" Pastor Jason Lang walks through the five questions hiding inside that one simple question. If you have gotten good at saying fine while you are running on empty, this one is worth your time. How are you doing? (five questions in one) Physically: eating, sleeping, moving, fighting off illness Mentally: healthy thoughts about yourself, godly thoughts, kind thoughts about others Emotionally: stuffing or exploding, using feeling words Spiritually: how God sees you in Christ, and living in Christ Relationally: relationship with God first, then others (anger, strife, kindness, openness) This will be an ongoing series at Word of Life Church in southern Minnesota. • Which one first when everything needs attention ⎸ Ep. 217 10.09.2026 20min
You finished the list. You sorted everything into thyroid or immune. And somehow that made it worse, because now you are looking at two full buckets and every single thing in them looks like it should be the thing you do today. So you did nothing. Or you picked five things, went hard, and lasted about eleven days. That is not a discipline problem. Sorting is triage, not treatment. It tells you what to work on first. But nobody ever explains the "first" part, and that gap is where most women get stuck. In this episode I walk through the three rules I use to decide what actually comes next, why the most important thing is almost never the right place to start, and what six winters of working on one single trigger taught me about doing less at a time. What you'll learn Why "address everything at once" sounds responsible and still falls apart in eleven days Why the thyroid bucket comes first (fatigue, brain fog, cold, and weight resistance show up in both buckets, and you cannot tell them apart through the static) How to pick your first immune bucket step by choosing the cheapest repeatable thing instead of the most dramatic one Why changing five things at once teaches you nothing, even when you feel better The question that replaces "which one is most important" and actually gets you moving Resources mentioned 10 Questions to Ask Your Doctor (free guide)https://health-with-hashimotos.kit.com/10-questions Episode 214, Sorting Hashimoto's labs into thyroid or immune bucketshttps://healthwithhashimotos.com/214-sorting-hashimotos-labs/ The Simple Habits Program. • How Serious is Hashimoto's Disease? ⎹ Ep. 216 03.09.2026 20min
How serious is Hashimoto's disease? Nobody answered that at your appointment. You got a prescription and a follow-up in six weeks. Or you got told your numbers are fine for now and we are just going to keep an eye on things. Either way, you walked out not knowing whether to brush this off or worry about it every day. The answer sits in between those two. Hashimoto's is two things and not one. It is a thyroid that cannot keep up, and it is an immune system attacking that thyroid. Medication can help handle the first one. The second one is all yours to work on. In episode 216, Esther gives you the facts without the fear, including what she reads in her own thyroid books about what happens when hypothyroidism goes unwatched, and why she gets most serious about this with women who are pregnant or trying to be. In this episode, you'll learn: Why the immune attack is not the life-threatening part, and what actually is How long your antibodies can be elevated before symptoms or your TSH ever reflect it The five labs to look at so you know which side is asking for your attention right now Hit play and get the answer you did not get at your appointment. • What to do first once you have sorted your root causes ⎸ Ep 215 27.08.2026 10min
You did the sorting. Thyroid on one side, immune on the other. So why does it feel like nothing has actually changed? Here is the trap. Sorting feels like progress, and it is, but so far it is all in your head. The buckets are full and nothing in either one has moved. Sorting feels safe. Starting feels like a risk. In this final episode of the summer sorting series, Esther walks you through what to do after sorting Hashimoto's into thyroid and immune. Not twelve things to do tomorrow. One thing, chosen on purpose, small enough that you will still be doing it next month. • Sorting Hashimoto's labs into thyroid or immune buckets ⎹ Ep. 214 20.08.2026 10min
You have the lab printout in front of you. You circled the flagged numbers, looked them up, and maybe compared them to somebody else's results in a group. So why do you still not know what they mean? In episode 214, Esther walks through the full panel and sorts every lab into thyroid or immune, so you can do the same thing with your own results in about five minutes. Sorting Hashimoto's labs is simpler than it looks once you know which list each one belongs on. In this episode, you'll learn: Which labs report on your thyroid gland and which ones report on your immune system Why reverse T3 is the lab that goes missing most often, and what a high number is asking you to look at Why vitamin D and C-reactive protein are helpful even though they are not on the standard thyroid panel Hit play, then pull out your most recent results and start sorting.   RESOURCES MENTIONED Episode 1, my diagnosis story: https://healthwithhashimotos.com/my-journey/ Episode 3, What Do My Thyroid Labs Mean: https://healthwithhashimotos.com/thyroid-labs/ Episode 39, Beyond TSH: How to Get the Thyroid Labs You Actually Need Using an Independent Lab: https://healthwithhashimotos.com/039-labs/ Episode 78, Success at the Doctor's Office: https://healthwithhashimotos.com/thyroid-questions-for-your-doctor/ Episode 80, Labs: T4 vs Free T4: https://healthwithhashimotos.com/t4-not-converting-to-t3/ Episode 94, Labs: T3, Free T3, Reverse T3: https://healthwithhashimotos.com/t3/ Episode 103, Thyroid Labs to Check: [link needed, page not live yet] Episode 190, Why Your TSH Looks Normal but You Still Feel Tired with Hashimoto's: https://healthwithhashimotos.com/190-tsh-normal-but-still-tired/ 10 Thyroid Questions to Ask Your Doctor (free guide): https://healthwithhashimotos.com/questions-for-your-doctor/   NEW HERE? • Thyroid or Immune? Sorting the 6 Symptoms Every Woman with Hashimoto’s Knows ⎸ Ep 213 13.08.2026 12min
Six common Hashimoto’s symptoms: fatigue, weight resistance, brain fog, hair loss, constipation, and feeling cold all the time. You've been told they're all just your thyroid. Some of them are. And some of them were never going to be fully fixed by your thyroid. In episode 213, Esther sorts the six most common Hashimoto's symptoms into thyroid or immune. Two landed in the thyroid bucket. Four landed in both. That isn't bad news. Two buckets is not two problems. It's two places to look instead of one dead end. In this episode, you'll learn: Why feeling cold all the time is the cleanest thyroid bucket symptom, and what to ask about if you're still cold on medication How constipation, hair loss, brain fog, and weight resistance end up in both buckets for two different reasons Why weight gain when you're eating the same and moving the same is physiology, not willpower Hit play and start sorting.   Resources mentioned in this episode Hashimoto's Decoded: Thyroid or Immune ($27, about an hour, self-paced)https://healthwithhashimotos.com/hashimotos-decoded/ One-time coaching call with Esther  Hashimoto's Discernment Coaching, six one-on-one sessions  Episode 80, Labs: T4 vs free T4https://healthwithhashimotos.com/t4-not-converting-to-t3/ Episode 94, Labs: T3, Free T3, Reverse T3https://healthwithhashimotos.com/t3/   NEW HERE? • Hashimoto's thyroid or immune ⎸ Root Cause Series Ep 212 06.08.2026 11min
You started the summer with a question. Now you have a longer list of root causes and the exact same question you had in May. Which one am I supposed to do something about first? That is not an information problem. It is a sorting problem. In this episode, Esther goes back through the summer root cause series and sorts every topic covered into one of two buckets using the Hashimoto's thyroid or immune framework. Each one gets sorted out loud so you can see how the filter actually works when you apply it to real information, including the one topic that landed in both buckets and changed how she thinks about minerals. In this episode, you'll learn: Why vitamin D belongs in the immune bucket even though it matters for every cell in your body Why the hair mineral test lands in both buckets, and what changed Esther's mind about it How to take 25 saved screenshots and sort them down to one next step Hit play and get a filter for everything you already know.   Resources mentioned 10 Thyroid Questions to Ask Your Doctor Hashimoto's Decoded: Thyroid or Immune Episode 204, the hair mineral test with Dee    NEW HERE? • Using the Hashimoto's thyroid or immune framework for yourself ⎸ Ep. 211 30.07.2026 10min
You have all the information. So why are you still stuck? If you have spent years reading, researching, and following every account you can find, you already know a lot about Hashimoto's. The problem is not information. The problem is knowing what to do with it. In this episode, Esther walks through the Hashimoto's thyroid or immune framework and shows you exactly how she used it on herself, back when she was first diagnosed. She shares which bucket she focused on first, why she skipped over diet even though she knew it mattered, and how she figured out her very next step instead of trying to do everything at once. In this episode, you'll learn: How to sort your own symptoms, labs, and next steps into the thyroid bucket or the immune bucket Why Esther focused on sleep and stress first, even though she knew diet was important too How to figure out your one next step instead of feeling like you have to fix everything at once Hit play to hear the whole story, including the moment her teenage son asked her a question that says everything about why she does this work.   NEW HERE? What if your thyroid is a victim, not the cause, of Hashimoto's Your thyroid isn't broken. It's overwhelmed. Esther talks with Dr. Jess Armine, a healthcare provider with almost 50 years of clinical experience. His take on Hashimoto's: the thyroid is a victim, not the cause. It's a downstream effect of something else happening in your body. If your fatigue has ever been written off as laziness, this one will shift how you see it. In this episode, you'll learn: Why your thyroid isn't the real problem in Hashimoto's Why your fatigue is a cellular energy crisis, not laziness The one simple starting point Dr. Armine recommends before chasing every root cause Guest bio: Dr. Jess Armine has spent nearly 50 years in healthcare as an EMT, RN, and chiropractor. Do you keep starting a new Hashimoto's protocol, only to abandon it a few weeks in when something newer shows up? If that cycle feels familiar, you are not lacking discipline. You are missing a filter. In this episode, Esther explains why do I keep starting over with Hashimoto's protocols, and it is not the reason you think. • Why do I have so many Hashimoto's symptoms at the same time ⎸ Root Cause Series Ep 208 09.07.2026 10min
Why does it seem like every Hashimoto's symptom shows up at once instead of one at a time? In this episode, Esther explains why your root causes never work alone. A single stressor, like a poor night of sleep, can affect your blood sugar, your gut, and your immune system all at the same time. That is why you have so many Hashimoto's symptoms stacking on top of each other, and it is not because nothing you are doing is working. In this episode, you'll learn: Why a single bad night of sleep can throw off your blood sugar and your willpower the next day How stress affects more than your mood, including your immune function and your gut lining Why small positive changes ripple across your whole body the same way stressors do Just as you are not a simple skeleton, you are not just a thyroid. If you have ever done everything right and still found yourself back at the donut, skipping your supplements, or abandoning your protocol without a clear reason why, this episode is for you. Dr. Tabatha, a board certified OBGYN who has lived with Hashimoto's since she was 17, says Hashimoto's self sabotage is rarely a discipline problem. It is a belief problem. In this episode, Dr. Tabatha shares the story behind her own diagnosis, her years as a Western medicine surgeon, and the shift that changed how she sees the body, faith, and healing. You will hear why she believes the deepest root cause she ever found was not a missing supplement, but a belief about what she deserved. You have done the research and probably already know your root causes, but what do you do next when new protocols, supplements, or advice pop up? In this episode I’ll help you build a personal filter — discernment — so you can decide what’s worth trying and what to skip.   We’ll walk through real-life examples (social media supplements, new diets, and flare-ups) to show how discernment helps you ask the right questions, run a checklist, and avoid all-or-nothing thinking. Think of this as your practical, everyday tool for applying what you already know.   If you’re just starting, hit the show notes for Hashimoto’s Decoded to learn your root causes. • Bad Influence Got the Problems Right but the Solutions Wrong - A Book Review 20.06.2026 12min
The BMJ called Bad Influence "a timely and eye-opening investigation...essential reading," but spoiler: I don’t agree. I found the reporting solid, and she made good points about how social media prioritizes stories over science, but I disagreed with nearly every solution. As an American who values free speech and medical autonomy, I want control over my health and freedom to speak. The author’s UK, socialized-medicine perspective leads her to lean toward regulation and centralized answers — that’s just not my worldview. I gave the book two stars: worth reading if you want to understand the problems, but don’t expect the proposed fixes to support medical autonomy nor freedom of speech.   Get the book Bad Influence: How the Internet Hijacked Our Health by Deborah Cohen   JOIN THE HEALTH WITH HASHIMOTO’S COMMUNITY Unlock your wellness journey with the free Health with Hashimoto's community! Are you still exhausted even though you're doing everything you can for your Hashimoto's? The problem might be something you literally cannot feel. Vitamin D is one of the most common root cause triggers for Hashimoto's, and most women have no idea their levels are low. You cannot feel it when your vitamin D is low. In this episode, Esther breaks down why vitamin D is a root cause trigger for Hashimoto's, how it works in your immune system, and what you actually need to know about getting your levels up, whether that is through summer sun exposure or smart supplementation. In this episode, you will learn: Why vitamin D acts like a brake system for your immune system and what happens when those brakes fail What optimal vitamin D levels actually look like and why "not deficient" is not good enough How summer sun exposure works, why it is not as simple as going outside, and what to do about it year round Ready to map out all of your root causes?
