  • #846 - Champaign Victory and the full schedule arrives! 14.09.2026 50min
It was a packed weekend of Duke sports starting with a huge victory for the football Blue Devils on the road at Illinois. The DBR Podcast crew breaks down an impressive outing that began with the Nate Train rumbling for big yards and ended with the defensive secondary making big plays to seal the win. As Manny Diaz notes, the fact that Duke has now beaten two teams it lost to a year ago speak volumes about the quality of the current Blue Devils. After the break, Jason and Donald dive into some basketball news. They start with the release of the full ACC schedule, which includes a murderous final stretch that is sure to test Duke and prepare the team for March Madness. The guys also talk about the NBA All-Stars who showed up on campus this weekend for a gather of the Brotherhood. What did we learn from watching Jayson Tatum, Kyrie Irving, and Paolo Banchero take on the current Duke team? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
  • #845 - Tough test against Illini awaits 09.09.2026 43min
The Duke Blue Devils hit the road this weekend for a big test on the gridiron against Illinois. We preview the game on Episode 845. The Illini won their opening game last weekend against UAB, and Jason and Donald go through what they did well and some areas that Duke could create an advantage. It’s a tough game, but if Duke plays well and improves in some areas, they have the ability to beat Illinois and make a statement in the process. We then get into some of the details of the activities that will take place before and during Countdown to Craziness on October 3rd. From a fan fest in K-Ville to tours and a dunk contest, Countdown sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun! Plus, it’s the best time to be introduced to the women’s and men’s basketball teams, and we like that there’s a lot of activities for everyone regardless of whether they have a ticket. We end on a sad note with a tribute to Cindy Hemmerich, wife of our friend Mike who passed away suddenly on Monday night. Make sure you’re following us! • #841 - Get Familiar With Duke! 25.08.2026 52min
With not a ton of news to discuss, it’s time to get familiar with our Duke men’s basketball team! We do that on Episode 841. Duke has released a series of posts on Instagram called “Get Familiar” that introduce us to almost all of the players on the team, whether they are returning or new faces. Donald and Jason detail the facts about each player that they enjoyed learning about the most. We have one guy who can bake a delicious banana bread and another who said he would be a F1 driver if he didn’t play basketball! It’s a fun look into the personalities that comprise the team this season. We also discuss Caleb Foster’s past couple of weeks, where he’s worked out with Jayson Tatum and is fostering a puppy named Titan that is training to be a service dog! We want Titan content all season long, but we also discuss the importance of CFos’ relationship with the CBO. We also discuss CBS Sports’ poll to coaches and how many picked Duke as the best team in the country entering the preseason. Make sure you’re following us! • #840 - Preparing to defend a football title (w/ Anna Snyder) 20.08.2026 38min
Duke Football is close to opening up their season as the defending ACC champions. What’s in store for them? On Episode 840, we speak with Anna Snyder of the Fayetteville Observer on where the football team is at as they finish out the preseason. The biggest question facing the Blue Devils this season: who will start at QB? All signs point to either transfer Walker Eget or sophomore Dan Mahan. Whoever is under center, they will have Nate Sheppard to hand the ball to and Jeremiah Hasley to throw the ball downfield to as they try to put points on the board. Anna takes us through the offense and defense and speaks to what qualities will be the calling card for Duke this season as they seek to defend their title against all doubters. We also dip a bit into the basketball, asking Anna about the summer and which players have been the ones to stand out in practice. We also see which non-conference games have her the most excited about the season as Duke hopes to add to their banner collection atop Cameron Indoor Stadium. We end the show with an update on Mike Corey’s recovery from a tragic car accident that claimed the life of his son, Teddy. Mike physically is doing much better and appreciates all the well-wishes. Emotionally, that toll will take a bit longer for him and his family to process. A memorial fund has been established in Teddy’s honor, and we encourage everyone to share it widely and pay tribute to Teddy’s life that was taken far too soon. Make sure you’re following us! DBR Podcast co-hosts, Jason and Donald, hop on to go through it and highlight some of the interesting quirks and realities of the whole thing. • #838 - Preseason schedule, meet legal chaos 02.08.2026 54min
Duke has its preseason schedule set, and legal chaos has added an entire class of athletes back to the player pool. Jason and Donald dissect it all on Episode 838. First off, Duke has announced their preseason schedule: a home scrimmage against Belmont on October 8th, a home preseason game against Tennessee on October 20th, and then traveling to Allen Fieldhouse to face Kansas in a preseason game on October 25th. We go through what those games can bring for the Blue Devils as they prepare for the season. We also get into the ACC preseason rankings for football. Duke, the defending ACC champions, are once again disrespected as they are picked to finish 10th. Jeremiah Hasley does get some love in the All-ACC Preseason Team. After the break, we dive into the legal chaos that ensued on Friday as 2 court rulings essentially made it where every student-athlete in the incoming Class of 2022 are eligible for a 5th year of competition. We discuss how that and pending Congressional legislation could open the door for some players to come back to college sports, with the caveat that the courts could reverse their decision at any time.
