How to Close In on the Last 8%: The Part of Every Hard Conversation We Leave Unsaid With Bill Benjamin 16.09.2026 30minI sat down with Bill Benjamin to break down his research on the “last 8%”—the small but crucial part of a difficult conversation or decision we often hold back because it feels risky. Bill shares how the idea started with two executives, then expanded through studies of 34,000+ people, showing we leave an average of 7.56% unsaid, and why our brains treat conflict like a threat. We talk about recognizing last 8% moments through body cues and behaviors, the two pillars of high-performing teams (connection and courage), and common defaults like avoiding or “making a mess.” We also cover why psychological safety alone isn’t enough, how leaders can model curiosity and set team norms, and why these human skills matter even more as AI adoption struggles due to fear and disengagement.00:07 Why We Hold Back01:33 What the Research Shows02:36 Brain Science of Fear03:06 Last Eight Percent Moments03:42 Individual vs Environment05:03 Body Awareness Framework07:58 Beyond Psychological Safety09:53 Avoiders and Make a Mess11:10 Skillful Hard Conversations12:32 Founder Modeling and Norms14:50 AI Makes Humans Matter18:51 Disengagement and Connection20:09 Who Does It Best22:20 Bill Personal Turning Point24:06 Toughest Partner MomentConnect with Bill: • www.ihhp.com• https://www.linkedin.com/in/bill-benjamin-12b671/Connect with Raul: • Work with Raul: https://dogoodwork.io • Free Growth Resources: https://dogoodwork.io/resources• Connect with Raul on LinkedIn (DMs open): https://www.linkedin.com/in/dogoodwork/ -
AI As Strategy Workshop: Work And Grow At The Speed of Your Thoughts 08.09.2026 38minAI As Strategy Workshop: Work and Grow at the Speed of Your ThoughtsMost conversations about AI begin with the model. This workshop begins with the business. In this episode explores AI as a strategy question across ownership, ethics, operating design, pricing, and net new value. Every Product You Ship Has an Anthropology with Taylor Black from the AI and Venture Ecosystems at Microsoft & the Leonum Institute for AI and Emerging Technologies 31.07.2026 37minIn this episode, I sit down with Taylor Black, who leads AI and venture ecosystem work in Microsoft’s Office of the CTO and brings a deep “better-formed humans” conviction to the AI conversation. We draw a hard line between intelligence (statistical knowing) and insight—where a human knower makes the categorical leap to “this is true,” what Taylor calls grasping the “virtually unconditioned.” We talk about how LLMs can pattern experience to help us reach insight but can’t replace judgment, and why venture building should be anthropology-first: every product ships an implicit view of the human person. We cover the risk of using AI as an oracle that shortcuts productive struggle (especially in education), the importance of humility and sustaining the tension of inquiry for product-market fit, and Taylor’s “cold storage” idea—using AI as a context engine to shelve, monitor, and revive ventures when conditions change. Why Resistance Means Change Is Working with Michael Lopez, Fortune 500 Transformation Consultant 29.07.2026 29minIn this episode, I sit down with Michael Lopez, a Fortune 500 transformation consultant and author of “Change,” to break down why stress and resistance can be biological signs that change is working and why leaders often abandon transformation too early. We unpack Michael’s national workforce study, Rethinking Change Management, which surveyed 1,000 U.S. employees and found “zero overlap” between the top five change supports companies provide (like emails, newsletters, and training) and the top five things employees say they actually need (time and space to experiment, coaching, permission to fail, and leaders modeling change). We also discuss the AI readiness gap—65% of executives feeling ready versus about 29% of employees—and how “licenses without direction” leads to passive resistance and stalled pilots. Michael shares what real change requires: honest expectations, redesigned incentives, and an 18–24 month adaptation journey.01:12 Stress Means Progress03:29 Diagnosing Change Problems05:22 Nuclear Plant Case Study07:32 Why Playbooks Fail09:58 The Easy Button Trap12:23 Pricing Change Work16:42 Zero Overlap Finding19:37 AI Readiness Gap22:40 Redesigning Change StrategyConnect with Michael: • www.michaeljlopez.coach, IG - @michaeljlopez9, LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/michael-j-lopez9/ , X - @MichaelJLopez9Connect with Raul: • Work with Raul: https://dogoodwork.io/apply • Free Growth Resources: https://dogoodwork.io/free-growth-resources• Connect with Raul on LinkedIn (DMs open): https://www.linkedin.com/in/dogoodwork/ -
The Thing That's Slowing Your Company Down Is Also Your Biggest Opportunity with Jim Schleckser (The CEO Project) 17.07.2026 30minIn this episode, I’m joined by Jim Schleckser, founder and CEO of The CEO Project, to break down how CEOs identify and fix the real constraint in their business. We cover practical signals for finding the “kink in the hose,” including where inventory accumulates, cycle time slows, congestion builds, or customer complaints spike—and why top-performing CEOs consistently spend meaningful time at the constraint. Jim explains when the CEO becomes the bottleneck (as the constant decider or by staying stuck in a functional role) and shares his Five Hats framework: learner/analyst and player to find constraints, and architect, coach, and engineer to solve them through business design, talent, and systems. We also dig into why values and mission are part of the operating system, Jim’s grounded view of AI as mostly augmentation amid hype, and what business types may be more resilient long term.01:25 Why Constraints Matter03:27 Finding the Business Kink04:51 When the CEO Is Bottleneck07:27 Five Hats Framework09:14 Design Talent Systems Fixes12:27 Big Model Shifts and Pivots13:24 Balancing CEO Hats Over Time13:59 Client Story Clairvoyant Service14:38 Firing Unprofitable Clients15:39 Small Shifts That Matter16:13 AI as Human Amplifier17:06 Hype Cycles and ROI18:39 Is AI Creating New Value21:18 Professional Services Pricing Shock22:29 Best Businesses in an AI Future24:46 Constraints Versus Opportunities25:19 CEO Surprises and AI DoomsdayConnect with Jim: • IG: @the_ceoproject• Twitter: @the_CEO_Project • YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@CEOProject • LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jimschleckser/ • Links: Podcast: https://theceoproject.com/the-podcast/ • Website: https://theceoproject.com/ and https://jimschleckser.com/great-ceos-are-lazy/Connect with Raul: • Work with Raul: https://dogoodwork.io• Free Growth Resources: https://dogoodwork.io/resources• Connect with Raul on LinkedIn (DMs open): https://www.linkedin.com/in/dogoodwork/ -
How John Johnson, CEO of Patmos Is Building Infrastructure Hyperscalers Can't Control 29.06.2026 40minI sat down with John Johnson, founding CEO of Patmos Hosting, to unpack how he bootstrapped a data center company with no outside capital after a big tech host threatened to cancel a client, leading him to pursue independence by “controlling the dirt.” We talk about his rule “he who pays, rules,” why he believes VC money erodes a founder’s mission, and how owning infrastructure and going upstream helps you control your destiny and protect your data. John also explores AI’s risks—counterfeit human personhood and reducing humans to artifacts—while arguing for a renaissance where authentic humanity becomes a premium. He shares how Patmos is redeveloping the old Kansas City Star printing press into a C-PACE financed, assessed clean-energy data center plus a downtown tech hub to create jobs and urban renewal. Why Buying Signals Are Sitting in Your CRM Already with Ronan Leonard 25.06.2026 39minIn this podcast, I sat down with Ronan Leonard, founder of Intelligent Resourcing, to break down how he helps sales teams eliminate the 40% of their day spent manually researching companies and instead deliver real buying signals directly into the CRM so reps can take action. We talked about how fast AI is reshaping business models—Ronan compared it to waking up and finding the snow gone overnight—and why he refuses to build SaaS right now. He explained “dark data” hidden in sales call transcripts, how he enriches CRMs into “evergreen” systems, and how those insights feed content and GEO/answer optimization. We also covered tool-stack volatility, internal tooling vs productizing, structuring teams around learning speed, value-based pricing and price elasticity, and we had an honest disagreement on co-risking and revenue-share deals.01:36 AI Overwhelm and Pace03:19 Snowstorm Business Models04:13 No SaaS Moat Strategy05:09 Signals Into the CRM06:45 Dark Data and Transcripts08:55 Scaling Clients and LTV15:49 Team Structure and Learning19:41 Agents vs SOP Iteration24:39 Standardize Custom Work24:59 Value Based Pricing Framework27:48 Cost Savings Case Study30:16 Pricing as Perception31:49 Why Upside Deals Fail35:36 Confidence and Client Execution36:34 Staying Ahead of AI Curve39:37 Creativity and Feedback LoopsConnect with Ronan: • https://www.linkedin.com/in/ronan-leonard/https://intelligentresourcing.co/Connect with Raul: • Work with Raul: https://dogoodwork.io• Free Growth Resources: https://dogoodwork.io/resources• Connect with Raul on LinkedIn (DMs open): https://www.linkedin.com/in/dogoodwork/ -

What Happens When a College Makes Entrepreneurship Mandatory for 100% of Students with Jeffrey Meade 14.05.2026 20minIn this episode, I talk with Jeffrey Meade, founding director of entrepreneurship at Paul Quinn College, about the school’s “Every Quinnite is an Entrepreneur” program, where by 2028 every student must launch a real business that generates revenue before graduating. Jeff explains why traditional schools optimize for employment but the job market is changing, making entrepreneurial thinking—creativity, adaptability, and problem-solving—more essential. We dig into what qualifies as a “real business” (no fixed revenue threshold, but real customers, pivots, and an MVP mindset), why they focus on solving a core problem before layering in AI, and the mindset shift first-generation and Pell Grant students must make from “don’t fail” to “fail fast” in a safe learning environment. Why Calling Your AI "Intelligent" Is a Leadership Mistake with Patrick Rooney, Founder of Leonis Strategy 12.05.2026 35minIn this episode, I interviewed Patrick Rooney, a cognitive science–trained AI practitioner and founder of Leonis Strategy, about how founders mischaracterize AI by collapsing “scripted autonomy” (agents doing tasks while you step away) into personhood autonomy (will, rights, interiority). Patrick argues this isn’t just sloppy language but a leadership issue that shapes how teams relate to technology. They discuss why LLMs are plausibility engines rather than truth-seekers, how humans can pursue truth, beauty, and goodness for their own sake, and why leaders must own inputs, outputs, and responsibility instead of outsourcing judgment. We explored why LLM training is text-bound and disconnected from lived experience, the appearance-versus-reality problem behind Turing-test thinking, practical cautions around anthropomorphizing AI, and why doubling down on in-person human connection is a strategic response to AI at scale.01:53 LLMs Are Plausibility Engines05:10 Leadership And Culture Values07:34 Why LLMs Aren't Intelligent08:54 Turing Test And Training Limits12:42 Language Detached From Reality14:48 Personhood Rights And Ethics19:01 Anthropomorphism Risks19:34 Human Ownership Mindset20:25 Outsourcing Your Thinking22:24 IP Training Fears24:34 Responsibility Still Human28:41 Leading In AGI Hype29:38 Grounding In Real LifeConnect with Patrick: • https://leonisstrategy.com/• https://www.linkedin.com/in/prooney1/Connect with Raul: • Work with Raul: https://dogoodwork.io/apply • Free Growth Resources: https://dogoodwork.io/free-growth-resources -
The Friction With AI Adoption from CEOs Vantage Point with Jim Ristuccia with Vistage 07.05.2026 32minIn this episode, I’m joined by Jim Ristuccia, a former US Naval officer, founder/CEO, and Vistage Chair in San Diego who leads peer groups for CEOs of $5M+ companies and small business owners in the $1–10M range. We break down what actually happens inside a Vistage meeting—especially the “issue processing” that surfaces blind spots through uncomfortable but growth-producing questions. Jim shares how AI started showing up consistently after a 2024 speaker session, including a case where an IP law firm put its team through AI bootcamps, tripled personal productivity, and grew revenue 50–60% in a year. We discuss the adoption gap (CEOs vs. leadership teams vs. employees), why employees often feel threatened, and how leaders can create psychological safety. We also dig into practical implementation via AI champions, committees, process mapping, low-hanging-fruit use cases, and measuring ROI through time savings, productivity, and revenue.01:56 What Vistage Really Is02:45 Issue Processing Secret Sauce04:46 When AI Hit the Groups06:43 Why Some CEOs Lag on AI08:44 Use Cases vs Business Model Shifts09:45 AI Readiness and Industry Friction11:20 Leading Change and Finding Use Cases13:25 Prompts Training and Psychological Safety15:01 AI Champion and Process Mapping16:04 Why People Quit16:32 Build AI Champions17:58 Pick Use Cases Fast18:33 Measuring AI Impact20:00 Beyond Time Savings21:02 Culture and Safety23:48 Compliance and Knowledge24:32 Jobs and Business Models27:38 Adoption Takes TimeConnect with Jim: • https://jimristuccia.com/Connect with Raul: • Work with Raul: https://dogoodwork.io• Free Growth Resources: https://dogoodwork.io/resources -
What Actually Happens to Your IP and Labor Costs When AI Gets Cheaper with Thadd Ruszkowski, CTO at Fuzati 04.05.2026 48minIn this episode, I’m joined by Thaddius Ruszkowski, CTO at Fuzati, who’s built software platforms for over a decade, from 25-person internal workflow systems to consumer platforms with millions of users. Thadd isn’t just theorizing about AI agents; he’s running a fleet of them in parallel every day across multiple projects. We dig into what happens to value, intellectual property, and labor as production costs collapse, and why efficiency is only the opening round, not the real competitive advantage of AI. We also talk about managing parallel agents without losing your mind, the comeback of hardware, why on-prem/local will matter more than most people think, and why IP is actually more valuable now in a world flooded with slop. How AI Is Creating the 3rd Form Factor of Digital Products 18.03.2026 26minMost conversations about AI in consulting stop at productivity. Doing the same thing faster. That's the wrong frame entirely. In this episode, I break down the three form factors for digital products: information products, software products, and what I'm calling actors. An actor is an AI agent or multi-agent orchestration that deploys your expertise on your behalf without requiring your ongoing presence at every step. The distinction that matters: an actor becomes a producer when it generates real market value, not just activity.I walk through how I built this into my own content pipeline (four hours down to fifteen minutes), how clients are using actors to overdeliver on their initial offer at 2-3x the going rate, and why "efficiency" is the wrong frame for what's actually happening. This is the next piece in a series. The Services Stack covers the thesis. The New Value Quadrant covers pricing. The Post Scope Era covers practical sales and delivery changes. This episode covers the new form factor that makes all of it possible.Key topics covered:What a "form factor" actually means and why it matters for how you price and packageForm Factor 1: Information products (ebooks, courses, coaching, communities) and the key person problemForm Factor 2: Software products and why they require a team and capitalForm Factor 3: Actors, AI agents that produce outcomes on your behalfThe distinction between an agent that acts and a producer that creates net new market valueWhy your methodology, positioning, and expertise dictate the value an actor createsReal example: content scheduling from four hours to fifteen minutesHow clients are using actors to deliver 2-3x more value at standard pricingEfficiency vs. production: doing the same thing faster vs. creating something newWhy speed to value creation might be the real variableHuman flourishing as the real goalThree steps to build your first actorCHAPTERS00:00 The Market Votes With Its Dollars 02:05 Every Digital Product Follows the Same Arc 03:00 What a Form Factor Actually Is 03:45 Form Factor One: Information Products and the Key Person Problem 05:30 Form Factor Two: Software Requires a Team 06:30 Form Factor Three: Actors 08:45 Acting Is Not Producing 10:15 From Four Hours to Fifteen Minutes 13:30 When Client Agents Become Sales Mechanisms 17:15 Skip the Course, Skip the Login, Go Straight to Value 18:00 What Agencies Charge $5,000 a Month For 21:00 What If Speed to Value Is the Variable? 23:00 When You're Stuck in Delivery, You Stop Building 24:30 Three Steps to Build Your First ActorWebsite: https://dogoodwork.ioNewsletter: https://dogoodwork.substack.comhttps://dogoodwork.substack.com/p/how-ai-is-creating-the-3rd-form-factor -

Marketing Leadership from the .com Boom to the AI Revolution: A Conversation with John Schultz on what Clients Want Today (Hint It’s Not An Agency) 10.03.2026 46minIn this episode, Raul and John discuss why hiring an agency feels risky today—cost, quality, outcomes, and commoditized “SEO/PPC shop” buying—then explore a shift toward providing open-ended marketing leadership focused on strategy, positioning, and execution using a mix of people, AI, automation, and outside resources. They argue project fees don’t fit a fast-changing landscape and consider retainers plus tool costs, while noting some work (like nailing brand positioning) can justify value-based pricing. They cover AI’s rapid acceleration, tool churn, and potential skill loss, alongside likely disruption to entry-level roles, and suggest human relationships will become more valuable in high-stakes B2B selling. John shares positioning lessons from customer interviews, a case study creating a sales/brand playbook used for onboarding, and examples of “marketing-adjacent” AI work that helps sales operations.00:00 Do Agencies Still Matter?01:18 What Clients Really Want02:29 Marketing Leadership Model04:57 Post Scope Era Pricing06:52 AI Velocity And Tool Overload09:00 Value Based Fees And Retainers12:09 Skill Loss And Disruption15:01 Meaning Work And Removing Toil17:51 Human Connection Comes Back22:18 Proof Points vs Positioning22:55 Cloud Consulting Case Study25:13 Tagline to Sales Playbook26:52 Using AI for Messaging28:25 Positioning Is for Buyers29:18 When Positioning Doesn’t Land30:49 Marketing Isn’t Just Opinion32:39 Revenue as the Validator33:39 AI Adjacent Opportunities36:58 Relationships in a Tech World39:12 Loyalty Means Real Dollars40:59 Lifetime Value Marketing ModelConnect with John Schultz: https://www.netstrategies.com/https://www.linkedin.com/in/johnschultznetstrategies/ Connect with Raul: • Work with Raul: https://dogoodwork.io/apply • Free Growth Resources: https://dogoodwork.io/free-growth-resources• Connect with Raul on LinkedIn (DMs open): https://www.linkedin.com/in/dogoodwork/ -
First Sight, Not First Shot: How a Navy SEAL is Using AI to Stop Shootings Before They Happen with JJ Parma 06.03.2026 26minIn this podcast episode, JJ discusses ZeroEyes, an AI weapons-detection software-as-a-service created in response to the Parkland shooting to make existing security cameras proactive rather than reactive. The platform works with current IP cameras (720p minimum) to detect brandished firearms (not concealed weapons) and sends detections within seconds to the ZeroEyes Operation Center, where trained former law enforcement or military personnel verify threats to reduce false positives before calling 911 and the client. The conversation covers why human judgment is kept in the loop, how special-operations mission focus shapes company culture and go-to-market, and why competitors without an operations center struggle. Key adoption challenges include limited school budgets, distracting “shiny” analytics, reliance on bonds and grants, and efforts to lower costs via insurance partnerships and state blanket funding.00:24 Origin Story Parkland02:16 Making Cameras Proactive03:50 Human in the Loop08:27 Mission Driven Culture12:12 Avoiding Shiny Analytics14:39 Budget and Funding Hurdles17:02 Partnerships and Insurance20:28 Hesitation Costs Lives22:18 Signals and Real CasesConnect with JJ: Website: https://www.jjparma.comZeroEyes: https://www.zeroeyes.comLinkedIn: JJ ParmaEmail: [email protected] with Raul: • Work with Raul: https://dogoodwork.io/apply • Free Growth Resources: https://dogoodwork.io/free-growth-resources• Connect with Raul on LinkedIn (DMs open): https://www.linkedin.com/in/dogoodwork/ -
Human Centered AI Workflows with Dirk Vander Noot 03.03.2026 23minIn this episode, I interviewed Dirk Vander Noot, founder of Tell Tale Ops, who runs thousands of automations monthly and helps small businesses use AI and automation without losing the human touch. He discussed what you can build with AI versus what you should build, emphasizing focusing on tasks that drain time and energy but don’t gain value from a human doing them. Dirk explains how to identify value through customer and team feedback, and how involving teams in workflow redesign increases satisfaction, which can improve customer satisfaction. He distinguishes reliable step-by-step automations from AI agents better suited for research and creative, variable outputs but with higher risk. Drawing from hospitality, he argues people return for service and relationships, so even if AI can do something, it may not be best to. Dirk shares that the most exciting outcomes are clients growing revenue while working less and gaining more time with family.00:41 Can Versus Should01:51 Finding High Value Tasks03:26 Measuring Value Signals05:06 Team Purpose And CSAT07:55 Humans And AI Roles09:44 Slop And Output Pressure14:27 Automation Versus Agents18:13 Human Touch In Hospitality20:29 Building Abundance And WrapConnect with Dirk: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dirk-vander-noot/ Website: telltalesops.comConnect with Raul: • Work with Raul: https://dogoodwork.io• Free Growth Resources: https://dogoodwork.io/resources• Connect with Raul on LinkedIn (DMs open): https://www.linkedin.com/in/dogoodwork/ -
