  • Episode 9: The Life I refuse to build again | Why I'm Changing the Podcast Already 04.08.2026 40min
There are moments when life quietly asks us to pause because we may be forgetting that we are human too.In this deeply personal episode of Living Content, I share why I'm making an unexpected change to the podcast so early into this new season, and what a conversation with a friend revealed about the life I refuse to build again. After recognising the familiar signs of burnout approaching, I chose to listen before my body was forced to make the decision for me. Together, we explore what it means to create a life that feels spacious, sustainable and deeply aligned with who you're becoming. In this episode, we unpack:Why burnout is often built by too many good things without enough room to breathe. The importance of self-maintenance before life begins to fall apart.Five lessons I learnt from the first era of Living Content that are shaping how I build this next chapter. Why your systems should support your life - not become a cage. How to protect your vision without expecting others to carry it.Why owning your story before sharing it is an act of freedom. The creative power of rest, boredom and living unhurried. Why I'm moving to a fortnightly release schedule, and how it aligns with the life I want to build. If you've ever felt guilty for slowing down, struggled with burnout, or found yourself chasing a version of success that no longer feels like your own, this conversation is for you.My hope is that you leave this episode with permission to create a life you genuinely enjoy living - not because it looks successful from the outside, but because it feels peaceful from the inside. If this conversation resonated with you, consider following Living Content and sharing this episode with someone who may need the reminder that rest is not a reward - it's part of how we remain fully alive.Topics: burnout recovery, sustainable living, self-leadership, healing, personal growth, creativity, intentional living, work-life balance, self-awareness, emotional wellbeing, leadership, purpose, rest, productivity, mindfulness, Christian reflection.

Stop blaming your younger self for the boundaries you didn't know how to set. In this Part 1 episode of Living Content, we unpack the shame so many of us carry for the silence that once kept us safe, and why that silence was never a character flaw, but a survival skill. This is a self-forgiveness and boundary-healing conversation for anyone doing the inner work of self-leadership: reconnecting with your younger self, separating your worth from your history of self-advocacy, and learning what it really takes to say no with confidence today.Inside this episode:- Why your past silence wasn't a choice - it was a lack of options- A practical framework for apologizing to yourself, not just othersIf you're on a healing journey around boundaries, self-worth, and reclaiming your voice, this one's for you.Connect with Lerato: @oleratowrites#SelfForgiveness #BoundariesHealing #InnerChildHealing #SelfLeadership #LivingContentPodcast
  • Who am I without my job title? | What my work Sabbaticals taught me 21.07.2026 19min
What happens when the title you've worked so hard to earn is no longer there? In this episode of Living Content, I reflect on two work sabbaticals that reshaped not only my career, but the way I understand identity, success, rest, and purpose. The first came after becoming a new mother while completing my Master's degree. The second came years later, when life looked successful on the outside, but I found myself in a quiet drought of meaning. These seasons taught me that stepping away from work isn't only about changing careers. Sometimes it's about creating enough space to ask the questions we often avoid: Who am I without my job? What truly matters to me? Am I building a life that reflects my values, or simply living up to expectations? In this conversation, I share the lessons I learned about work, ambition, financial uncertainty, identity, and why every path - whether you stay in your 9-to-5 or leave to pursue something new - comes with its own challenges. If you've ever felt defined by your career, questioned your next step, or longed for a life that feels more aligned with who you are, this episode is for you.In this episode, we explore:What my two work sabbaticals taught me about identity and self-worthWhy your job title should never become your identityHow rest creates space for clarity and personal growthThe difference between success and meaningWhat to consider before leaving your 9-to-5Lessons on career transitions, purpose, financial uncertainty, and living according to your valuesWhy the goal isn't to make the "right" decision, but to make your decision rightIf this conversation resonated with you, share it with someone navigating a career transition, burnout, or a season of rediscovering themselves.Living Content is a podcast about leadership rooted in self-knowledge, healing, meaningful work, and building a life that remains true to who you are.Connect with me:Instagram: @livingcontentpodcastSubstack: Make Life SacredEmail: hello@livingcontent.co.za
  • Your Strength Is Forged in Rejection 14.07.2026 22min
What if the rejection you've been trying to recover from has been shaping your greatest strength all along? In this episode of Living Content, I share one of the hardest seasons of my adult life - a season marked by uncertainty, disappointment, unanswered prayers, and prolonged rejection. It was a time that tested my hope, my faith, and my sense of self, but it also became the place where resilience, self-respect, and an unshakable belief in my own worth were forged. If you’ve ever felt overlooked, unchosen, excluded, or like you’ve had to build your own table because no one invited you to theirs, this conversation is for you.Together, we’ll explore why rejection doesn’t define your value, how difficult seasons can prepare you for what’s ahead, and why some of the greatest strength we carry is born from the hardest chapters we’ve survived. This episode also includes reflective journaling prompts and a weekly affirmation to help you process rejection, rebuild your confidence, and reconnect with your worth. If this episode resonates with you, share it with someone who needs the reminder that their worth has never been determined by someone else’s acceptance. Keywords: healing from rejection, overcoming rejection, resilience, self-worth, emotional healing, personal growth, faith, identity, confidence, self-leadership, journaling, Living Content Podcast.
  • The Difference Between Being Needed and Being Loved 07.07.2026 23min
In this episode of Living Content, we explore one of the questions many of us carry: Have I confused being needed with being loved? For many high-achieving women, caregivers, leaders, and eldest daughters, worth can slowly become tied to usefulness. We become the dependable one, the fixer, the helper, the one who carries everyone else. But what happens when our identity is built around being indispensable rather than simply being ourselves?Together, we unpack the difference between serving from love and serving from fear, the hidden cost of over-functioning, and why true belonging was never meant to be earned through constant sacrifice. If you've ever struggled to say no, felt responsible for everyone else's well-being, or wondered who you are beyond what you do for others, this conversation is for you.In this episode, we explore:Why many of us equate usefulness with worthThe difference between being needed and being genuinely lovedHow over-functioning quietly shapes our relationshipsLearning to receive love without having to earn itWhat healing looks like when we stop carrying everything aloneTake a deep breath, settle in, and join me for another conversation on becoming - one rooted in self-knowledge, wholeness, and living content. If this episode resonates with you, share it with someone who may need the reminder that they are worthy of love, even when they have nothing left to give.
  • Becoming Visible Without Losing Yourself 30.06.2026 38min
In a world that constantly tells us to "be more visible," how do we step forward without slowly becoming someone we no longer recognise? In this episode of Living Content, we explore the tension between hiding and performing, and the quieter path that often goes unnoticed: rooted visibility. Together, we unpack the difference between being visible and being truly seen, why authenticity is more than simply sharing everything, and how to stay connected to yourself as your work, leadership, and influence continue to grow.Whether you're stepping into a new role, building something meaningful, sharing your voice for the first time, or simply navigating a season where life is asking more of you, this conversation is an invitation to expand without abandoning who you are.In this episode, we explore:The difference between visibility and being truly seen. Why hiding isn't always fear, and performing isn't always authenticity. How to cultivate rooted visibility in your work and your life.Three practices to help you stay connected to yourself as your influence grows.Reflection questions to help you lead from a place of wholeness rather than performance. If this conversation resonates with you, consider sharing it with someone who is stepping into a new season of their own.Thank you for being here.Until next time, take care of yourself - and whatever this next season asks of you, don't leave yourself behind.
  • The Elder Daughter Tax | The Leadership burden nobody talks about 23.06.2026 19min
What happens when being responsible becomes part of your identity? In this episode, we explore the hidden cost of always being the dependable one—the one who carries, solves, anticipates, and holds everything together. But this isn't just a conversation about what you've carried. It's a conversation about what you're building.Together, we unpack the difference between leadership and over-functioning, why capability can become a cage, and what it looks like to trust yourself enough to build a life that doesn't leave you behind.Because belonging in the room was never the destination. The destination is learning how to lead once you're there.Reflection: If you fully believed you belonged, what would you stop proving?
  • You Belong in the Room 21.06.2026 25min
How do you convince yourself that you belong in the room when your past keeps telling you otherwise? In this episode, we explore the relationship between identity, self-belief, and the evidence we use to define ourselves. Many of us are living from outdated beliefs formed by past experiences, rejection, disappointment, survival mode, or the expectations of others. Even when new opportunities arrive, we can find ourselves questioning whether we deserve them, whether we’re ready, or whether we belong there at all.But what if the problem isn’t the opportunity? What if the problem is that our beliefs haven’t caught up with who we’re becoming? In this conversation, we explore why updating your core beliefs requires more than positive thinking. It requires practice. It requires new experiences. It requires giving yourself enough evidence to support a new truth.Together, we discuss:Why discernment matters when consuming advice and personal development contentThe difference between the season that requires rest and the season that requires actionHow survival mode can keep us attached to outdated versions of ourselvesWhy going quiet can help you reconnect with your authentic identityThe role of lived experience in rewiring limiting beliefsHow to build confidence through action instead of waiting to feel readyPractical ways to create evidence that you belong in the roomThe connection between faith, purpose, courage, and personal growthWhy discomfort is often a sign that transformation is already happeningReleased on South Africa’s Youth Day, this episode also reflects on courage, legacy, and the generations who made it possible for many of us to walk through doors that were once closed.Whether the room is a new career opportunity, a business, a relationship, a creative project, a ministry, or an assignment God has placed on your heart, this episode is an invitation to stop measuring your future against old evidence.Because the life you’re building may require a version of you that your past has never met before.Instagram: @livingcontentpodcastTikTok: @oleratowritesYouTube: Living Content PodcastSubstack: Make Life SacredIf this conversation resonated with you, my debut blended memoir explores many of these themes in greater depth through stories of identity, healing, faith, resilience, and becoming.
  • I Went Quiet for 3 Years - Here's What Changed | And on Leading your Life 09.06.2026 21min
After three years away, I'm returning to the podcast for the beginning of a new era.The conversations we once had here were rooted in healing, understanding our stories, tracing the origins of our pain, and doing the inner work required to become whole. But healing was never meant to be the final destination. This season asks a different question:What do we do with everything we've learned about ourselves? How do we take the lessons, losses, growth, faith, and wisdom life has placed in our hands and build lives that reflect who we are becoming? In this episode, I share what changed during my three years away, from becoming a mother of two, to writing my debut book, to discovering that self-awareness means very little if it never translates into self-leadership.We talk about trusting yourself, taking ownership of your life, being willing to be seen, and why the next phase of growth requires more than understanding your story, it requires courage to lead it.If you've ever felt stuck between who you've been and who you're becoming, this conversation is for you.In this episode, we explore:• What three years of quiet taught me about growth and timing• Why healing is not the end of the journey• The difference between self-awareness and self-leadership• Taking ownership of your life and decisions• Releasing the fear of being seen• Motherhood, identity, and personal evolution• Trusting yourself enough to build the life you desire• How faith and divine timing shape our becomingJournal prompts and affirmations are included at the end of the episode to help you reflect on your own journey. If this conversation resonates with you, subscribe to the podcast and share it with someone who may need the reminder that they are not meant to stand on the edges of their own life.
