  • The Politics of Storytelling ft Kelechi Okafor 10.07.2026 45min
Around 65,000 years ago, our ancestors painted an everyday scene on the wall of a cave in Indonesia. It tells the story of 3 human beings surrounding a pig, possibly on hunt.In 2026, the tools, customs and cultural references might have changed, but human beings are still doing the same thing in their art- telling stories. The stories we tell each other are so powerful- they help us understand the truth about the world around us and ultimately, who we are.But what happens when stories are twisted, divorced from the truth and weaponised? How can we assess and critiqueAnd in the world of books, what makes a good fictional story? is it one that tells us something about our lived reality, or one that helps us imagine beyond it?This week we are joined by artist and author Kelechi Okafor, who knows all about storytelling. Through her books and acting, she creates captivating stories that challenge and excite and through her scoial media, she challenges and critiques the dominant narrative of the British political landscape.Together we explore storytelling through fiction, news and everyday interactions.Enjoy ❤️
  • The Philosophy of Parenthood 02.07.2026 45min
“It starts at home.” It’s where we first feel love, where we say our first words and crucially, where our parents raise us.And our parents’ choices mould us into the adults we are today.Today we have a special guest to explore both sides of the parent/ child relationship- Guvna BIn segment one, we explore the morality of our parents’ influence on us. Yes, they moulded us the best they can, but was that right? As a child, you can’t consent to their guidance- does the lack of consent make the morality of parenthood murky? In segment two, we discuss the issues with bringing children up in Britain as diasporans.Did our parents have it easier than we did? How can we navigate culture as parents, whilst we are separated from the African continent.Let us know what you think in the comments!Enjoy ❤️---------------------Credits: Thumbnail art by Tomi Olopade (@eddieapollo on instagram)---------------------Subscribe to our channel: https://bit.ly/tt-subJoin our Patreon for early access to all of our episodes, our show notes and community chat: https://www.patreon.com/c/ThinkTwiceShowTikTok: https://tiktok.com/@thinktwiceworldInstagram: https://instagram.com/thinktwiceshow--------------------Topics: Parenthood, childhood, psychotherapy, therapy, trauma, church, christianity, adolescence
  • The Philosophy of Judgement 25.06.2026 37min
It feels natural to judge people based on what we see. After all, we experienced the world through our senses- our sight, smell and touch. And we analyse what we experience, including the people we meet and speak to. But is judging people morally acceptable. After all, you shouldn't never judge a book by his cover.Today we tackle the issue of judgement. Our conversation addresses judgement of others in interpersonal interactions and also in political conversations. It is old news that political polarisation is sky high and people on different sides of the political conversation consistently judge one another - somewhere along the way we have forgotten to recognise each other's humanity.
  • The Politics of Violence 18.06.2026 39min
The story of humanity has always been a violent one. For millenia, empires have risen and fallen based on conquest, and war has been an ever present feature of modern politics. In 2026, nothing seems to have changed- the US has most recently started a war with Iran and every missile dropped is causing untold human suffering. In this net positive or not episode, we analyse the phenomena of violence through both a geopolitical and individual lens.We start by discussing self defence and personal protection- how are you supposed to protect yourself in a dangerous world? Is aggression a valid deterrence- is it fair to behave aggressively towards others, but also does it actually work? Here we discuss Sapolsky, human nature and Max WeberIn segment two, we discuss the geopolitical landscape of 2026- Trump is distancing the US from the EU and threatening to leave NATO, which would expose European countries militarily. What does this mean for Europe and specifically for us as Diasporans living in Europe. Here we discuss Europe’s obligations to the US and the fate of Africa on a potentially highly militarised world stage.Enjoy ❤️
  • The Philosophy of Sustainability 11.06.2026 33min
Humanity is facing an existential crisis and we aren't taking it seriously enough.Planet Earth is facing climate change at an alarming rate and the place we all call home is set to change forever. Experts are forecasting that by 2100, up to 1 billion people could be forced out of their homes due to increases to sea levels, extreme weather events and mass crop failure.Who is to blame for this?Today we address the highly requested topic of Sustainability. We analyse how we have got to the situation we are in, who is morally responsible for it and the solutions we have available to us.We begin by asking a difficult ethical question: Should you consume less to address climate change? In segment two, we change gears to understand the geo-political situation of 2026. We touch on America's war in Iran, the closing of the Strait of Hormuz and how this might have changed the international oil markets forever. Enjoy ❤️Credits: Thumbnail art by Tomi Olopade (@eddieapollo on instagram)
  • The Politics of Childhood 04.06.2026 39min
What are the next generation concerned about? What excites them? And how different are their childhoods from ours? Today we head into a school to try to answer these important questions with London's finest teenagers.Back when we were children, the world was a very different place- but perhaps some things never change. We asked our secondary school stars two simple questions:- What are you most concerned about in the future? - What are you most excited about in the future? We offer an insight in our own childhoods, analyse what has changed in the last 20 years and what that means for society as a whole. Our conversation touches on gender roles, ambition, and our relationship with our parents.Enjoy ❤️---------------------Credits: Thumbnail art by Tomi Olopade (@eddieapollo on instagram)---------------------Subscribe to our channel: https://bit.ly/tt-subTikTok: https://tiktok.com/@thinktwiceworldInstagram: https://instagram.com/thinktwiceshow
  • The Philosophy of Absurdism 28.05.2026 31min
What is the meaning of life? One of the most famous Europeans to tackle this question was Albert Camus, a French writer and thinker who is often accredited with being the founder of Absurdism. In his book The Myth of Sisyphus he outlines how he sees the human condition. As inquisitive and curious creatures, we want meaning. The universe is indifferent to us and will never give us meaning. This tension = the absurd. In today's episode, we contemplate if we agree with diagnosis of Camus (and the wider field of Existentialism). We question if our lives truly are meaningless. And if they are, where do we go from there? In segment one, we ask if happiness is possible if we accept that life has no meaning, before tackling the Absurd more explicitly in segment two. In the moral dilemma, we question how we would feel about a machine that could calculate our most compatible path in life. Would we accept the diagnosis, or reject it, knowing that you might experience lower levels of satisfaction and happiness.Enjoy ❤️---------------------Credits: Thumbnail art by Tomi Olopade (@eddieapollo on instagram)
  • The Morality of Media 21.05.2026 27min
Media has always been a fundamental part of modern society. Before social media and smartphones, news shows dominated televisions around the world. Before TV, radio and newspapers were widely distributed and consumed. Ultimately, distributing information is always a good thing for the people. But the distribution of media has never been neutral, often used as a tool to control and manipulate the cultural conversation. In today's episode, we consider two forms of media, their owners, characteristics and history. Legacy Media (large newspapers and established media companies) and Social Media (eg. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter). We weigh up their respective harms and benefits and assess if they have been a net positive for society.Enjoy ❤️
  • The Morality of Fame ft Gary Lineker 14.05.2026 45min
You might not be as recognisable as our guest this week, but you do have people in your life who look up to you- a younger sibling, a friend or a loved one. When you voice your opinion, they are listening carefully and your words have a real impact. And with that power, comes responsibility. This week we consider the impact of your opinions, what being perceived by others does to you psychologically and the moral responsibility of having a lot of eyes on your every move. And there is no person better to join us for this conversation than the man himself Gary Lineker. In this conversation, Gary reflects on his career with the BBC and being outspoken about Gaza, while also exploring philosophical dilemmas and ethical judgements. In segment one, we consider why an opinion is valuable. While Tef takes a deontological approach, Beno and Gary lean towards a utilitarian view- assessing the value of an opinion with its real life impact in the world. In segment two, we discuss the added moral obligations of a large platform. Tef admits that he judges public people when they don’t speak out on political issues, whereas Gary and Beno are more understanding of the difficulties of taking a stance. Here, Tef and Beno pose a famous philosophical dilemma to Gary- The Trolley Problem.Enjoy ❤️Join us on:YoutubeTikTokInstagramPatreon (exclusive content, early access)Credits: Thumbnail art by Tomi Olopade (@eddieapollo on instagram)
  • The Politics of Revolution ft Fiona Lali 07.05.2026 45min
If we have an ineffective political system, is voting ever going to set you free? Class tensions, economic instability and a distrust of politics are at an all time high. Perhaps the scene is set for a revolution.‘It easier to imagine the end of the world, than the end of capitalism’ Slavoj ŽižekA fundamental transformation of our society may seem highly unlikely, maybe even a chaotic, undesirable outcome. But today’s guest would argue that is this capitalist propaganda.Today we have Fiona Lali, the brilliant leader of the Revolutionary Communist Party join us to talk about revolution. We initially ask if electoral politics can ever deliver the kind of economic liberation that people so deeply crave. Will casting votes materially improve the lives of the working class? Our conversation analyses who really holds true power and whether true liberation is even possible at all. And if the answer is no, how should we engage with electoral politics with that knowledge? In the face of an undemocratic and ineffective political system, what should we do? In segment two we ask ourselves whether revolution is TRULY desirable. We discuss historical examples, including the Russian, French and Haitian revolutions and analyse the modern day situation through a Marxist perspective. In the moral dilemma, we tackle a common problem that voters across the UK face- strategic voting.Enjoy ❤️Credits: Thumbnail art by Tomi Olopade (@eddieapollo on instagram)Topics: Karl Marx, Revolution, Socialism, politics, general election, local elections 2026, Reform UK, Labour Party, Revolutionary Communist Party
  • The Philosophy of Consciousness ft Bel Cobain 30.04.2026 36min
We usually assume consciousness is something our brains produce- something happening inside us as we move through the world. But what if that is wrong? What if, the universe itself was conscious and we unknowingly 'tap in' to its frequencies and wavelengths which shape our lived experiences? Or perhaps consciousness is a fundamental property of matter, living in subatomic particles that combine in a particular way to provide our human experience? That would have profound ramifications for the way we live our lives. And could transform the way we see loneliness, a growing epidemic in the global north. Joining us to discuss this vast topic is Bel Cobain, the intelligent and enigmatic musician hailing from East London. We explore spirituality, materialism, Thomas Nagel's test for consciousness and how our physical environments impact who we are.
  • The Philosophy of Hedonism 23.04.2026 38min
Hedonism has a bad reputation, but maybe it's just misunderstood as a moral philosophy. At its core, it judges actions based on how much they maximise pleasure and minimise pain. The more they do this, the better they are. So in reality, you might be more of a Hedonist than you think. After all, your brain is hardwired to seek pleasure in it's many forms. Today we assess Hedonism in both an ancient Greek context and in the modern era. First we question if theoretical hedonism is egoistic. Tef argues that it is given it focusses on the pleasure of the individual, relegating the wellbeing of the collective. Beno argues that Hedonism isn't egoistic since humans are social creatures, so enhancing one's own pleasure always involves the pleasure of others. In the modern era, we all have access to a constant stream of news stories depicting incredible human suffering all over the world. In segment two, we ask if it is immoral to seek your own pleasure while others suffer so much. In this week's dilemma, we have 5 years to live. What kind of life would you lead for the time you have remaining? Enjoy ❤️
  • The Morality of Landlords 16.04.2026 30min
Everyone needs shelter. Under international law, it's a human right.Unfortunately, like many other essential utilities, homes have turned into an investment asset class for people to buy, sell and own for profit. Without new affordable homes being built, the price of existing homes and the cost of rent has sky rocketed. Add stagnant wages and a rising cost of living into the mix- everyone is being squeezed financially.Today we analyse housing in a Net Positive or Not. In segment one, we look at the phenomenon of gentrification. We debate our differing definitions of the term and discuss regeneration and resident displacement in South London. Overall is gentrification a net positive? In segment two, we turn our attention to landlords- the leeches of our economy. We look at what motivates a person to engage in rent seeking and debunk some of the beliefs that underpin the landlord mentality.Enjoy!0:00 Intro1:12 Gentrification17:06 Landlords---------------------Credits: Thumbnail art by Tomi Olopade (@eddieapollo on instagram)---------------------Subscribe to our channel: https://bit.ly/tt-subJoin our Patreon for early access to all of our episodes, our show notes and community chat: https://www.patreon.com/c/ThinkTwiceShowTikTok: https://tiktok.com/@thinktwiceworldInstagram: https://instagram.com/thinktwiceshow--------------------Topics: Rent, Property, Landlords, Gentrification, Cost Of Living Crisis
  • The Philosophy of Feminism ft Jameela Jamil 09.04.2026 52min
For women all over the world, the struggle for liberation has been a long fought battle.Today we are joined by the brilliant and outspoken actress, Jameela Jamil to discuss feminism. Together we look at the progress of feminism, subjugation of women (and men) under patriarchy and the landscape of gender issues in 2026.We start off by asking a very important question- “Can Feminism achieve its goal in a world built on hierarchy?”.This question sparks a fierce debate that covers different definitions of the feminism’s goal and different ways that could be achieved.Next, we discuss the role of men in dismantling the patriarchy. Should men work alongside women, or does that risk recreating the problem of centering men?In our moral dilemma, we ask each other how we might resolve a pay dispute in a sports leagues, closely mirroring the current issues in the WNBA.Enjoy ❤️
  • The Politics of Love 10.02.2026 33min
Valentine’s Day is all about sweet sweet love. Every year we see the same picture perfect image: man and woman in love, some children, a perfect nuclear family. But where does that idea of partnership come from, and why do people (us included) keep picking it? And what about the kids? Surely they would benefit from being raised by a ‘village’, like they are in many non Western cultures?Let’s say you’re good with monogamy… why is dating so difficult these days? These are all questions that we tackle in today’s Valentine’s special- The Politics of Love. We touch on our own romantic relationships, childhoods and research on dating. Special mentions include: The Industrial Revolution, Karl Marx, Pop The Balloon and Margret ThatcherEnjoy!
  • The Philosophy of Ambition 03.02.2026 28min
"Dream big", "Go get the bag", "Money haffi mek"These are all sayings that you have been familiar with since your childhood. Maybe you know to take them with a pinch of salt, but let's discuss what they mean on a deeper level. In the context of our economic system, is having personal ambition for wealth and success a noble, moral endeavour? And if it is, where is the limit to your ambition? What truly separates your ambition from the ambition of a ruthless capitalist like Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk? In this part of our discussion, we reference philosophers of antiquity like Epicurus and Marxist critiques of modern capitalism. In our second segment, we move to a look at the wider economic system in more depth and ask the question, 'is national economic growth opposed to morality'?Enjoy!
  • The Philosophy of Fascism 25.01.2026 35min
In today's episode, we try to understand why fascism has always been popular in modern European political history. Across the continent, and in the US, political parties like Reform UK and MAGA have been able to gain massive popularity in recent years with Fascist rhetoric. Whenever inequality rises and poverty takes hold, fascist politicians always seem to be able to manipulate the people and exploit racial division to create a political platform of hatred, violence and ultimately murder. We start by exploring identity groups- are they an unavoidable part of the human experience, or are they an optional part of societal living? The distinction of the in-group and out-group is a key part of Fascist Philosophy, but is it actually built into human nature? And by being part of an 'identity group', do we open up the door to mistreating people who aren't in our group?Once an in group and out group has been established, a slippery slope to Fascism might be inevitable, but how do these ideas even manage to take hold in a modern society? It could be that Western society was susceptible to fascism all along. Here, we explore how Fascist ideas have been embedded into Western society, and material possibility of a full blown Fascist state in a modern internet age.If you have made it this far down, I want to ask you a question. Sure, you are anti fascist. But how does your anti-fascism manifest itself? It might feel right to demonise fellow citizens who support MAGA, or Reform UK, but ultimately, aren't we just creating another in group/ out group, which is the very thing we are accusing them of doing? Some food for thought.Enjoy xxChapters:0:00 Intro1:22 Is group identity an unavoidable part of human nature?17:20 Is modern society inherently susceptible to fascism?28:02 Moral Dillema
  • The Philosophy of Music ft Kwaku Asante 15.01.2026 33min
Music is one of life's greatest joys. The right song can inspire you, unlock your emotions or even touch you on a spiritual level. So who better than Kwaku Asante, RnB and Neo Soul PHENOM, to join us in the studio this week.We discuss how RnB has changed over the years, going from a polished, curated musical genre, to a raw and moody one. Has this change been driven by society's honesty or it's sadness? The traditional music industry has long had a bad reputation for exploiting musicians and gatekeeping talent, so more and more artists chose to take the independent route. Whilst it does have its benefits, independent artists face their own host of new modern challenges, including funding, marketing and social media. The question is, which version of the industry created better music?Join us as we dive deep on the ethics, production and artistry of music.
  • The Morality of Representation 04.01.2026 29min
Your identity is a complex issue, but one thing is certain- representation matters. Through the media you watch, you are told a certain story of who you are. Naturally, you find personalities who you can relate to, athletes that inspire you and institutions that connect with your lived experiences. But what happens when those characters deviate from your own self image? What happens when the people who claim to represent you are actively discriminating against you and your people? What does that mean for your own identity and self esteem? Today's episode starts by attempting to answer these questions about the British Monarchy, an institution that has subjugated black people for hundreds of years, but remains atop the British socio- political hierarchy. In segment two, we tackle the more topical issue of athletes switching allegiances. Notable athletes like Mo Farah have dual nationality and can select which nation to represent, but when this decision plays out in the public eye, everyone (including us) has something to say.Chapters:0:00 Intro1:30 British Royal Family: Net positive or not17:01 Switching allegiances: Net positive or not
