  • True Crime Catch Up - October 2026 02.10.2026 37min
True Crime Catch Up is back!I'm delighted to say that True Crime Catch Up is back with a brand-new episode, as I sit down with Stuart Blues, host of the British Murders podcast, for episode one of our new monthly series. If you haven't listened before, it's a chance for the two of us to get together and chat about different aspects of true crime, from individual cases to our own experiences of researching and presenting them.In this episode, we each talk about three cases we've covered on our podcasts that have stayed with us for a number of reasons. Some have affected us more than others, and we reflect on why these particular stories have remained in our minds long after recording them. It's a slightly different format from our usual podcasts, with a more relaxed conversation, a few personal reflections and, inevitably, a few laughs along the way. We're now releasing True Crime Catch Up on the first Saturday of every month, and I'm really looking forward to getting together with Stuart regularly to explore more true crime stories and topics.I release new episodes of the UK True Crime Podcast every Tuesday and Friday, so please do join me for the next story on Tuesday.Find out more about me, Adam Lloyd, & UK True Crimehttps://uktruecrime.comSupport me at Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/UKTrueCrimeBuy Me a Coffeehttps://buymeacoffee.com/uktruecrimepodcastWatch my YouTube Channelhttps://www.youtube.com/@Adam-uktruecrime/videosJoin UK True Crime Facebook Grouphttps://www.facebook.com/groups/UKTrueCrime Hosted on Acast. • The Cases We Can’t Stop Thinking About | True Crime Catch Up 02.10.2026 37min
Some true crime cases stay with you long after you've finished researching them. Maybe it's the unanswered questions, the sheer brutality of what happened, the mistakes made during an investigation, or simply the feeling that there’s something about the case you just can't shake. In this returning episode of True Crime Catch Up, Stuart Blues of British Murders and Adam Lloyd of UK True Crime get together to talk about the cases they can't stop thinking about. We're revisiting some of the most memorable and disturbing cases we've covered over the years, looking beyond the headlines and discussing the details, unanswered questions and moments that have stayed with us.And, because we can't spend an entire episode talking about murder without giving ourselves a bit of a breather, we finish with a couple of much more heart-warming stories involving some very good dogs. So settle in for another True Crime Catch Up, as we revisit the cases that have stuck with us long after the microphones were switched off.Exclusive content:Patreon - Ad Free, Early Access, Exclusive EpisodesFollow the show:British Murders with Stuart BluesDisclaimer:The cases discussed in this podcast episode are real and represent the worst day in many people's lives. • The Defiler - Part 1: The Beast Of The Bedsit 01.10.2026 1h 12min
It is great to be back for a brand new series of The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast, and I begin Series 11 with at first, a case that I covered before the podcast was even a podcast, when it was a simple blog.Back in 1987, the Kent town of Tunbridge Wells was gripped by fear, with the murders of two young women, five months apart. They were crimes that for many years remained cold cases, until forensic technology had advanced such that, by 2020, that perpetrator was just within the grasp of investigating officers, and it led to a knock on a door early one December morning. Except that, no officer involved in the investigation could ever imagine, and probably still struggles to believe, the sheer amount of horror that opening that door would bring....The episode contains details and descriptions of crimes and events, including descriptions of sexual abuse and self harm, that some listeners may find disturbing or distressing, so discretion is advised whilst listening in.Music used in this episode: "The Descent" by Kevin Macleod. • Wrong Place, Wrong Time: The Murders of James Attfield and Nahid Almanea | Ep. 279 30.09.2026 42min
In March 2014, 33-year-old James Attfield was found brutally murdered in Castle Park in Colchester, Essex. Just a few months later, 31-year-old Saudi Arabian student Nahid Almanea was attacked and killed while walking along a secluded footpath on her way to the University of Essex. The two murders appeared to have little in common, but detectives soon began asking whether they could have be committed by the same perpetrator. For the people of Colchester, the possibility that a killer was randomly targeting strangers was deeply unsettling. Major police investigations were launched, hundreds of potential witnesses were spoken to, and numerous people were arrested and eliminated from the inquiry. Yet for more than a year, detectives struggled to identify the person responsible, while the fear within the local community continued to grow.In this episode of British Murders with Stuart Blues, I examine the murders of James Attfield and Nahid Almanea, their lives before they were killed, the investigations that followed both attacks, and the extraordinary discovery that would eventually bring the case to its conclusion. We look at the evidence that connected the two murders, the investigation that finally identified the killer, and the courtroom battle over his responsibility for what he had done, in a case that left the people of Colchester asking how two apparently random victims had ended up at the centre of the same terrible story.Exclusive content:Patreon - Ad Free, Early Access, Exclusive EpisodesFollow the show:British Murders with Stuart BluesDisclaimer:The case discussed in this podcast episode is real and represents the worst day in many people's lives. • The Secret in the Cellar : Episode 548 28.09.2026 31min
Carol Jarvis was a woman whose life was shaped by her family and, later, by a degenerative illness which left her increasingly dependent on others. As her health deteriorated, her husband took on the role of her carer, looking after her at home as she became less able to care for herself. But behind the closed doors of the family home, things were not quite as they appeared.Carol’s children began to notice differences in their mum's condition, particularly when comparing the times she was cared for by her husband with those when they looked after her themselves. Small inconsistencies began to raise questions, but confronting their Dad was far from easy. When another woman entered the picture, the situation became even more complicated. What followed would expose a disturbing relationship, a bizarre living arrangement and a series of events which would eventually lead police to a devastating discovery inside the family home. This is the story of Carol Jarvis, the questions raised by those closest to her, and the shocking truth that eventually emerged.I release new episodes of the UK True Crime Podcast every Tuesday and Friday, so please do join me for the next story on Friday.Writing Credit: Chris WoodYou can buy Chris's second book, 'Death in the Theatre' here: https://www.amazon.com/Death-Theatre-Chris-Wood/dp/1399009117Find out more about me, Adam Lloyd, & UK True Crimehttps://uktruecrime.comSupport me at Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/UKTrueCrimeBuy Me a Coffeehttps://buymeacoffee.com/uktruecrimepodcastWatch my YouTube Channelhttps://www.youtube.com/@Adam-uktruecrime/videosJoin UK True Crime Facebook Grouphttps://www.facebook.com/groups/UKTrueCrime Hosted on Acast. • The Police Sergeant's Wife: The Murder of Madallin Jones | Ep. 278 27.09.2026 33min
In January 1993, 37-year-old Madallin Jones was found dead beside a stream near Hawarden, North Wales, after what initially appeared to be a terrible road accident. But as detectives examined the scene and began looking more closely at the circumstances surrounding her death, they quickly realised that something wasn't quite right.Madallin's husband, Steven Jones, was a serving police sergeant with North Wales Police who had spent years investigating crime and training other officers. He was a respected member of his community and had even been praised for an act of bravery just days before Madallin's death, but he would soon find himself at the centre of a murder investigation led by some of the very people he had worked alongside. In this episode of British Murders with Stuart Blues, I examine the murder of Madallin Jones, her life and marriage to Steven Jones, the investigation that followed her death, and the forensic evidence that would challenge the initial explanation of what had happened. We look at the events surrounding Madallin's death, the extraordinary circumstances of the investigation, and the trial that followed, in a case where the knowledge of policing and criminal investigations would take on an especially unsettling significance.Exclusive content:Patreon - Ad Free, Early Access, Exclusive EpisodesFollow the show:British Murders with Stuart BluesDisclaimer:The case discussed in this podcast episode is real and represents the worst day in many people's lives. • A Fatal Betrayal: The Murder of Natalie Jarvis | Ep. 277 23.09.2026 37min
In the summer of 2012, 23-year-old Natalie Jarvis was enjoying life in Swanley, Kent. Outgoing, funny and hugely sociable, Natalie had a close family, a large circle of friends and a job she loved, but behind the scenes, she had become involved with a young man she had known for several years, and what Natalie believed was a relationship would eventually take a far darker turn.In the weeks that followed, messages and conversations began to reveal a disturbing side to what was happening behind Natalie's back. She had no idea what was being said about her, or what was being planned, and on the evening of October 3, 2012, she left her family home believing she was simply going out for a short meet up with Adam Whelehan. What followed would lead to a major murder investigation in which forensic evidence, digital communications and a reconstruction of the events that unfolded on a quiet country road in Kent led to the arrest and conviction of Natalie's killer. In this episode of British Murders with Stuart Blues, I examine the murder of Natalie Jarvis, her life and relationships, the events leading up to her death, and the investigation that followed. We look at the messages that would become crucial evidence, the evidence recovered from the crime scene, the claims made by those involved, and the trial that would ultimately determine what had happened to Natalie. It's a deeply tragic story about trust, betrayal and premeditation, but at its heart is a 23-year-old woman whose life was taken when she believed she was simply going out for a short meeting with someone she knew and trusted.Exclusive content:Patreon - Ad Free, Early Access, Exclusive EpisodesFollow the show:British Murders with Stuart BluesDisclaimer:The case discussed in this podcast episode is real and represents the worst day in many people's lives. • A Teenage Double Murderer: The Killing of Rosalyn Hunt and Desmond Thorpe | Ep. 276 16.09.2026 35min
In the summer of 2009, 15-year-old Lorraine Thorpe was living a life far removed from the childhood most people would recognise. Growing up around alcohol, drugs, homelessness and violence in Ipswich, Suffolk, Thorpe had become deeply involved with a group of vulnerable adults, including her dad, Desmond, man whose health had deteriorated to the point where his teenage daughter had taken on the role of his carer. But within this troubled group, tensions were building, and before long, two people would lose their lives.Over several days, violence inside a flat in Ipswich became increasingly extreme, leaving one vulnerable woman suffering horrific injuries. When another member of the group realised what had happened, he threatened to reveal what he knew, setting in motion a second chain of events with devastating consequences. As Suffolk Police began investigating the deaths of Rosalyn Hunt and Desmond Thorpe, detectives were faced with a complex case involving conflicting accounts, multiple suspects and a group of people whose lives had become entangled through addiction, dependency and violence. In this episode of British Murders with Stuart Blues, I examine the murders of Rosalyn Hunt and Desmond Thorpe, the troubled background of Lorraine Thorpe, the people and circumstances surrounding the two deaths, and the investigation that followed. We look at the violence inside Rosalyn's flat, the evidence uncovered by Suffolk Police, the lengthy trial and the convictions that made Lorraine one of Britain's youngest female double murderers. It's a deeply disturbing story about neglect, addiction, vulnerability and violence, but at its heart are two people whose lives ended in horrific circumstances and a family left to deal with the consequences.Exclusive content:Patreon - Ad Free, Early Access, Exclusive EpisodesFollow the show:British Murders with Stuart BluesDisclaimer:The case discussed in this podcast episode is real and represents the worst day in many people's lives.
