  今年（ことし）の1月（いちがつ）に運転免許（うんてんめんきょ）を取（と）ったばかりのとらくんですが、今回（こんかい）は、日本（にほん）で運転免許（うんてんめんきょ）を取（と）るには、どんなことをしないといけないのかについて話（はな）しました。海外（かいがい）では、自分（じぶん）で練習（れんしゅう）して運転試験（うんてんしけん）を受（う）けることが多（おお）いと思（おも）いますが、日本（にほん）では、自動車学校（じどうしゃがっこう）という特別（とくべつ）な学校（がっこう）に行（い）って、運転（うんてん）のスキルと、運転（うんてん）についてのルールを習（なら）うのが普通（ふつう）です。そこで、どんなことを習（なら）うのか、どんな勉強（べんきょう）をして、どんな試験（しけん）を受（う）けるのかについて説明（せつめい）しています。ですが、専門用語（せんもんようご）が多（おお）くて、私（わたし）でも、ほとんど何（なに）を言（い）っているのか理解（りかい）できませんでした。なので、今回（こんかい）は聞（き）き取（と）れなくても大丈夫（だいじょうぶ）です。難（むずか）しすぎるので、分（わ）からない部分（ぶぶん）は聞（き）き流（なが）してください。笑Tora has just gotten his driver’s license this January, and in this episode, we talked about what you need to do to get a driver’s license in Japan.In many countries, people usually practice driving on their own and then take a driving test. However, in Japan, it is common to go to a special school called a driving school, where people learn driving skills as well as the rules of the road.We explain what kind of things you learn there, what kind of studying you have to do, and what kinds of tests you need to take.However, there are so many technical terms that even I couldn’t really understand what he was talking about most of the time.So it’s totally okay if you can’t catch everything this time. It’s quite difficult, so please just listen casually and don’t worry about the parts you don’t understand. 😄

  12月（がつ）の半（なか）ばから1週間（しゅうかん）、北海道（ほっかいどう）にスノーボードに行（い）ってきました。前回（ぜんかい）北海道（ほっかいどう）に行（い）った時（とき）は4年（ねん）前（まえ）、コロナでまだ日本（にほん）に観光客（かんこうきゃく）が戻（もど）ってきていない時（とき）だったのですが、今回（こんかい）は観光客（かんこうきゃく）だらけで全（まった）く違（ちが）う風景（ふうけい）が広（ひろ）がっていました。笑笑もはや冬（ふゆ）の北海道（ほっかいどう）は日本（にほん）じゃない。私（わたし）たち日本人（にほんじん）が外国人（がいこくじん）だったと言（い）っても過言（かごん）ではありません。そんなあまりの外国人（がいこくじん）の多（おお）さにちょっと困惑（こんわく）したエピソードを紹介（しょうかい）しています。We went snowboarding in Hokkaido for a week in mid-December.The last time we visited Hokkaido was four years ago, when COVID was still keeping tourists away from Japan.This time, though, it was packed with tourists, and the scenery felt completely different. LOLHonestly, winter in Hokkaido doesn’t even feel like Japan anymore.It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that we Japanese felt like foreigners ourselves.In this episode, we share a few moments where the sheer number of foreign visitors honestly caught us off guard.

  日本語（にほんご）は「です・ます」の丁寧形（ていねいけい）以外（いがい）にも会話（かいわ）の普通形（ふつうけい）、ビジネスで使（つか）う尊敬語（そんけいご）など大体（だいたい）大（おお）きく分（わ）けて３つのスタイルがあり、勉強（べんきょう）しているみなさんにとっては本当（ほんとう）に難（むずか）しい言語（げんご）だと思（おも）います。今回（こんかい）、またオーストラリアの高校生（こうこうせい）の使（つか）っている教科書（きょうかしょ）から、普通形（ふつうけい）から敬語（けいご）、敬語（けいご）から普通形（ふつうけい）にする、というドリルがあったので、ネイティブがやるとどうなるかやってみました。特（とく）に普通形（ふつうけい）に関（かん）しては、仲（なか）のいい友達（ともだち）と話（はな）すトーンでやると方言（ほうげん）が出（で）てしまい、メチャクチャになってしまいましたが、愛知（あいち）の人（ひと）はこんな話（はな）し方（かた）をするんだ、と参考（さんこう）にしてください。笑Japanese has roughly three major styles: the polite desu/masu form, the casual form used in conversation, and honorific language used in business. For learners, it's truly a difficult language to master.This time, I found a drill in a Japanese textbook used by Australian high school students, where you convert from the casual form to the honorific form and vice versa.   オーストラリアの生徒（せいと）さんが選挙（せんきょ）のお手伝（てつだ）いをしているということから、オーストラリアの選挙（せんきょ）のやり方（かた）を知（し）りました。日本（にほん）とは投票（とうひょう）の仕方（しかた）が全然（ぜんぜん）違（ちが）うことに驚（おどろ）きました。そこで、今回（こんかい）は世界（せかい）の選挙事情（せんきょじじょう）について調（しら）べてみました。投票（とうひょう）の仕方（しかた）はその国（くに）それぞれに違（ちが）いがあり、とても興味深（きょうみぶか）いです。みなさんの国（くに）ではどんな風（ふう）に投票（とうひょう）しますか？日本（にほん）と同（おな）じですか？それとも全（まった）く違（ちが）いますか？よかったらコメント欄（らん）で教（おし）えてください。I learned about how elections work in Australia after one of my students there helped out during an election. I was surprised at how different the voting system is compared to Japan. So, I decided to research how elections are held around the world.
