What Would Dorcy Do is a thought-leadership podcast hosted by Dorcy Pruter, offering clarity for families, adult children, and professionals navigating estrangement, rupture, accountability, and repair. The podcast approaches family fracture through a systems lens focused on healing and solutions, not ideology, blame, or performative healing. Inside this feed, Dorcy dismantles false binaries, names the patterns that keep families stuck, and offers language and structure for real change. You’ll hear three kinds of conversations: direct episodes delivering clarity, frameworks, and cultural truth-telling; an educational series on nervous system safety and sacred plant medicine; and a conversation series exploring estrangement, reconciliation, and the human cost of unhealed family dynamics.

  • Why holding the line under family pressure is the real work 13.07.2026 18分
You've been ping-ponging between two impossible choices for years. Cut everyone off and become the cold one, the one who abandoned her family. Or keep everyone and keep losing yourself in every gathering. All or nothing. On or off. In or out. But your family isn't one thing. There's the parent who did the damage, the sibling who was also a kid in the house, the aunt who quietly saw you, the cousin you actually like. A blanket rule forces you to treat all of them the same. So you either lose the people who were never the problem, or you keep the one who was. This episode is for the woman who's exhausted from flipping the switch and ready to ask a different question. The question was never contact or no contact. The question is: safe or not safe? And you answer it one person at a time. Your body has been telling you the answer your whole life. It's time to listen.Timestamps: 0:00 – Intro2:30 – The False Binary: All or Nothing6:15 – The In-Between People (The Real Problem)9:45 – Why You Override Your Own Read12:30 – The Paradox: Fairness to Everyone = Unfair to Yourself15:45 – The Reframe: Safe or Not Safe18:20 – It's Not About Judging Worth, It's About Assessing Safety21:00 – Addressing the Guilt Directly23:45 – Leadership = Trusting Your Body Over the Argument26:15 – The Dimmer, Not the Light Switch29:00 – Your One Thing: Run the Sort (The Exercise)31:30 – Holding the Line Under Pressure34:00 – The Closer Links:Subscribe on YouTubeListen on Apple Podcasts:Listen on Spotify: Follow Dorcy on Substack: @dorcypruter Join the email list:@dorcypruter on all social media
  • Why No Contact Didn't Unhook You 05.07.2026 16分
You did the hardest thing. You went no contact. You changed your number. You said what needed to be said. And then you waited to feel free.It didn't come.Or maybe it came for a week. Two weeks. And then your phone buzzed on a regular afternoon—not even her, just a notification with the same ringtone and your stomach dropped before your brain caught up.This episode is for the woman who's done years of therapy, read every book, gone no contact, and still feels the hook. Because the relationship was never the hook. The hook is the nervous system wiring that got installed in your body when you were young. Distance gets rid of the person. It doesn't get rid of the wiring. In this episode, Dorcy breaks down what the hook actually is, why it stays even after no contact, and the one question that puts a space between you and the pattern. The pattern ends with you.Subscribe on YouTube Listen on Apple PodcastsListen on SpotifyFollow Dorcy on InstagramJoin our free class and UNHOOK today
  • The Decision That Was Finally Yours 01.07.2026 25分
They're calling it a trend like you woke up this morning, scrolled on TikTok for 45 seconds, and decided to throw your mother away. Like estrangement is a hashtag. Like cutting off a person who hurt you is the emotional equivalent to buying a Stanley cup because everyone else has one. But there's a different story underneath the headlines. In this episode, Dorcy breaks down the six invisible dynamics that kept you stuck—the moving goalpost, the identified patient, conditional belonging, the smear campaign, engulfment and abandonment, and the weaponized memory. She reframes what you actually did: this isn't abandonment, revenge, or a tantrum. It's a boundary so loud it required distance to be heard. And she walks you through what you're actually reclaiming—your nervous system, your Sundays, your right to define family by safety, not genetics. Plus: why guilt isn't evidence of wrongdoing, and why you don't owe anyone the story of why.
  • End Parental Alienation: You've Done Everything Right. Your Kid Still Won't Come Home. 30.04.2026 22分
There is something I need to say to a specific group of people who I know are watching and listening. The adult alienated children. The ones who grew up inside the fracture. Who were put in the middle of something no child should ever be placed in. Who were asked to choose, to carry, to perform a loyalty to one parent at the cost of loving the other. And the ones who became adults carrying a wound so old and so deep that they don't even recognize it as a wound anymore. It just feels like who they are.I see you. I was you.Everything I share in this episode comes from that place first. Not from authority. Not from over 20 years of working in this space. From the child I was who needed someone to name this before anyone really had language for it.In this episode, I draw a distinction this space has needed for a long time.It is not a takedown. It is not a callout. It is a line that could change everything for the families we are all here to serve. The difference between advocacy and recovery. What you'll hear in this episode:Advocacy names the wound. It gives you language for the pain. It says out loud what the system has refused to acknowledge. It builds community around shared experience. It tells the parent who has been gaslit for years that they are not crazy. That what they lived is real. That other people see it too. That is sacred work. It has a place. It is needed.Recovery closes the wound. It does not just name what happened. It goes into the room with your family. It works directly with the child, with your inner child. It addresses pathogenic parenting at its root. It produces a reunion that holds. One discovers the problem. The other solves it.Both are necessary. They are not in competition. They are in sequence. The four signs you're stuck in advocacy when what you actually need is recovery:You are still consuming content but nothing in your family has changed. You can name every manipulation tactic used against you and you still get triggered by every single one.You are following people who can explain the wound but cannot heal it.You feel less alone and you have language for your pain — and your child is still gone.If any of those landed, it is time to move.I also name something in this episode that is not being discussed honestly in this space. What happens when an unhealed person builds a platform around a wound they have not yet closed? This is not a personal conflict. This is a pattern. And it is the same pattern that has been playing out inside your family for years.Unhealed people reproduce their wound in every space they enter.I close by speaking directly to you.To the parents who have been fighting for their children for years. To the adult alienated children who are still trying to understand what happened to them.I've been where you are. I was shaped by this same wound. I know what it feels like to build a life on top of a fracture you did not choose. The work I do is not separate from that story. It is because of that story.Recovery is possible for every single family. Your child is waiting on the other shore.Let's go get them back.Resources mentioned in this episode:The First Move System: https://dorcypruter.com/healing-from-the-trauma-of-unhealed-parents/The Expansion Code: https://soulillumination.org/expansion-code/Book a strategy session: https://dorcypruter.com/contact/Learn more at dorcypruter.comConnect with Dorcy:Instagram: @dorcypruterYouTube: Dorcy Pruter TVWebsite: dorcypruter.comAbout Dorcy Pruter:Dorcy Pruter is a certified coach, mediator, reunification practitioner, and the creator of the UNHOOK Method, the DORCY Method, and the Reconnect Alienated Parents Roadmap. • The Solution to Parental Alienation 01.04.2026 16分
Most attorneys walk into family court thinking they're handling a custody dispute. They're not. They're looking at a child protection case, and nobody in that courtroom knows how to name it correctly. Not the evaluator. Not the guardian ad litem. Not the therapist. The solution to parental alienation exists right now. It has existed for over a decade. Most professionals in the family court system have never been trained on it. In this episode, Dorcy gives attorneys, guardian ad litems, therapists, court evaluators, and targeted parents the complete clinical and legal roadmap for what's actually happening in these cases, how to prove it in court, and what the proven remedy is. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN: → The single most important shift every professional needs to make: custody case vs. child protection case → The three diagnostic indicators that change everything (Childress framework) → Why standard custody evaluations fail and what to use instead → The ABAB single case reversal design and why it holds up under cross-examination → The exact language attorneys must stop using in court (and what to use instead) → The four sequential phases of the proven intervention protocol → The guiding principle that has defined this work for over 20 years: Protect First, Litigate Second THE THREE DIAGNOSTIC INDICATORS OF PATHOGENIC PARENTING: 1. Attachment system suppression toward the targeted parent 2. Either personality disorder traits in the allied parent (grandiosity, absence of empathy, entitlement, haughty and arrogant attitude, splitting) OR phobic anxiety in the child toward the targeted parent 3. A fixed and false belief regarding the parental inadequacy of the targeted parent When all three are present, this is not a custody dispute. It is child psychological abuse, and there is a court-defensible diagnosis, a scientifically established assessment protocol, and a proven intervention with documented results. WHO THIS EPISODE IS FOR: → Family law attorneys handling alienation cases → Guardian ad litems and minor's counsel → Therapists and court evaluators → Targeted parents trying to understand what their attorney needs to be doing → Adult children who lived through this and want to understand the framework → Anyone who has watched the family court system fail a child and felt powerless to stop it RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE: 📘 Free Guide — The Protect First Framework The complete clinical and legal foundation for professionals. https://consciouscoparentinginstitute.com/protect-first-checklist/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=checklistThe daily behavior rating tool used in the ABAB protocol. • 35 Years of People Trying to Destroy Me. Here's What I Learned About Myself. 14.03.2026 17分
For over 20 years I have been called a child abuser by people who are psychologically abusing children. I have had false allegations made against me by someone I caught stealing. I have watched people I helped for free turn on me the moment I told them a truth they were not ready to hear. For a long time I asked the same question a lot of you are asking right now. What is wrong with me that this keeps happening.Nothing is wrong with me. And nothing is wrong with you either. In this episode I walk you through my Human Design chart and show you exactly why people like us attract the attacks we attract, what the projection field actually is and how it works, why the 5/1 profile pulls people in and then becomes the target when the savior narrative flips, and what it means to be designed to expose what is hidden in a world that is not always ready to see it.This is not a victim story. This is a map. And once you understand the map, the attacks stop feeling like a verdict on your worth and start revealing exactly what they are — other people's unfinished work landing on the nearest available mirror. If you have ever told the truth and become the problem for telling it, this episode is for you.
  • What Would Dorcy Do: The Family Court System Is Not Just Failing Families. It Is Killing Them. 12.03.2026 12分
Book a complimentary strategy call https://dorcypruter.com/contact/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=book-callArkansas. Nevada. Florida. Three families destroyed in the past few weeks. Five children dead. Three mothers gone. All connected to family breakdown, divorce stress, and custody conflict. And the press is covering all three as isolated tragedies. They are not isolated. They are warning signals from a system that was designed to resolve legal disputes, not stabilize human beings in psychological crisis. After nearly twenty years working in this space I can tell you: this is not a mystery. These are predictable outcomes of an adversarial family court model that pushes people further toward the edge instead of building off-ramps. Idaho is moving House Bill 824 toward real custody reform. Every state needs to be watching. The question is not whether the system is failing. The question is whether we are willing to build something that actually protects children.#FamilyCourt #ChildProtection #FamilyLawReform #WhatWouldDorcyDo #CCPI #ConsciousCoParenting #HighRoadToReunification #FamilyCourtReform #Idaho #H0824

  • The Wound Didn’t Start With You But It Can End With You 23.02.2026 15分
Somewhere in your family line, someone was hurt. And without meaning to… they passed it on.In this episode of What Would Dorcy Do?, I share a moment that stopped me cold — sitting in a restaurant, overhearing a mother guilt her daughter in a way that will likely echo through that child’s nervous system for decades. It triggered me.And that’s the point. After 20+ years helping families heal, I still get triggered. Healing doesn’t mean the past disappears. It means you notice it. You name it. You move through it — instead of living inside it.We talk about:How trauma installs “programs” in children in everyday momentsWhy the wound doesn’t care whether you’re the parent or the childWhat performance mode really looks like in adulthoodWhy therapy sometimes helps you understand… but doesn’t fully unhook the bodyThe difference between being healed and being sovereignIf you’ve ever thought,“I’ve done the work. Why is this still here?”This conversation will land. The cycle doesn’t stop because time passes. It stops because someone becomes conscious enough to interrupt it.Maybe that someone is you.If you’re curious about the deeper healing work I mention in this episode, you can find more information here https://dorcypruter.com/sacred-return-retreat/

  • You're Not the Crazy One or The Voice You Keep Overriding. But What Would Dorcy Do? 28.07.2025 4分
You apologized again today for something that wasn't yours to carry. Then you spent the drive home wondering if you're the problem. You're not. You never were. You're the one who's the most competent person in every room and still feels hollow inside the achievement. You've done the therapy, read the books, set the boundaries, and you still wake up at 3 AM asking if you're the crazy one. You've been called too sensitive, too much, not grateful enough, for so long that you started to believe it. You keep drafting the text and never sending it.This show is for you.I'm Dorcy Pruter. I was a cut-off kid, alienated from my dad at five, completely no contact by twelve. I grew up reading the room so closely I lost track of where the room ended and where I began. If that's familiar, we're going to get along.I've done this work for over 20 years. I'm a certified coach, a formerly alienated child, an estranged adult child, and the creator of the High Road to Reunification Program, the number one court-ordered family reunification program in the country. But you'll keep listening because I made the shift you're trying to make, from the woman who was always healing to the woman who actually got free. I'm not standing on the shore telling you it's possible. I swam the ocean. Here, we talk about the mother who's still alive and still the first voice you hear in your head. The guilt that shows up whether you go no contact or not. Why you can understand the whole pattern and still not outthink your own nervous system at 3 AM. And how you get your own voice back after you gave it away without meaning to.Every episode is built around one decision, the kind you lose sleep over. We name it, find the pattern underneath it, and end with something you can actually do, not one more thing to understand. You are not the crazy one. You never were. And you don't have to do the rest of it alone.New episodes every week. Send me your situation, the link is in the show notes. We read every one.@dorcyprutertv
