From 'US innovates, China imitates' to 'Opportunity 2.0' - lessons from Summer Davos 16.07.2026 56分"One of the most common refrains you used to hear 10 years ago was 'US innovates, China imitates, and Europe regulates'. Today, I don't hear that anymore." Aparna Bharadwaj, a managing director at Boston Consulting Group, joins us to analyse what we learned about geopolitics and business relations at Summer Davos, AMNC26. And Yang Yanqing, director of ShanghaiTech's Center for Education, Innovation and Sustainable Development, dissects how the rise of artificial intelligence has transformed education and jobs markets worldwide. Both were in Dalian, China for the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of the New Champions and joined us online to discuss the big lessons on geopolitics, economics and more from AMNC26. Hosts: Robin Pomeroy, Radio Davos, and Jessica Wanger, Deputy Head, Event Editorial, World Economic Forum This episode was recorded live in front of an online audience of Forum partners and digital members who can watch it here: https://toplink.weforum.org/sessions/a0WTG000001drrt2AA/annual-meeting-of-the-new-champions-debrief-2026. The Hormuz shock, AI and China: the state of global energy, with Jason Bordoff 09.07.2026 26分Is 2026 the year it all changed for energy? The Strait of Hormuz closure was "the largest oil supply disruption in history" but has not (yet) brought the global economy to its knees. But are we now living in a post-Hormuz world where countries and companies are seeking to diversify energy supply and ramp up renewables? Jason Bordoff of the Center on Global Energy Policy and the Columbia Energy Exchange podcast returns to Radio Davos, at the Forum's 'Summer Davos' in China, for an update on the global energy situation. AMNC26: What just happened at the Summer Davos? 02.07.2026 46分The Chinese port city of Dalian just hosted the 14th Annual Meeting of the New Champions - AMNC26 - often known as the Summer Davos. Innovating at scale was the official theme, and we heard lots on that - but also geopolitics, not least the rivalry between China and the US. On this episode we get a flavour of the discussions and hear from the people at the World Economic Forum who are working on the big issues throughout the year. Financial fragmentation: the $6 trillion cost of breaking the "plumbing" of global finance 04.06.2026 49分The global economy is fragmenting, and it could lead to a hit of $6 trillion to GDP worldwide. That's more than the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic or the 2008 financial crisis. So what exactly is causing this fragmentation, and can the impacts be mitigated? Finance industry experts join us to explore the forces of fragmentation and examine a new report by the World Economic Forum and Oliver Wyman, which quantifies its impact and details the consequences on the global economy and emerging markets in particular. Guests: Matt Strahan, Private Market Initiatives Lead at the World Economic Forum Daniel Tannebaum, Global Anti-Financial Crime Practice Leader at Oliver Wyman Anne Walsh, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Guggenheim Partners Daniel Mminele, Chairman of Nedbank Links: Deepening Divides: The Cost of a More Fragmented Financial System: https://wef.ch/financialfragmentation26 Related podcasts: Chief Economists Outlook: counting the cost of the Hormuz crisis, with Maersk's Ilaria Maselli: https://www.weforum.org/podcasts/radio-davos/episodes/chief-economists-outlook-maersk-ilaria-maselli/ The Iran oil shock: will it force the world to re-think the future of energy?: https://www.weforum.org/podcasts/radio-davos/episodes/oil-shocks-hormuz-iran-columbia-energy-exchange-jason-bordoff/ The rise of industrial policy - why governments are back in the business of business: https://www.weforum.org/podcasts/radio-davos/episodes/industrial-policy-trade-choke-points/ Welcome to Cold War Two: historian Niall Ferguson on geopolitics in 2026: https://www.weforum.org/podcasts/radio-davos/episodes/niall-ferguson-geopolitics-cold-war/ Check out all our podcasts on wef.ch/podcasts: YouTube: - https://www.youtube.com/@wef/podcasts Radio Davos - subscribe: https://pod.link/1504682164 Meet the Leader - subscribe: https://pod.link/1534915560 Agenda Dialogues - subscribe: https://pod.link/1574956552

Chief Economists Outlook: counting the cost of the Hormuz crisis, with Maersk's Ilaria Maselli 28.05.2026 41分As the World Economic Forum publishes its latest Chief Economists Outlook, Maersk's Head of Macro & Market Insights Ilaria Maselli gives her view on the state of the global economy. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz, "the aorta of global fossil fuel trade", is one of the "biggest crises" in the history of capitalism, with huge implications for economies around the world, Maselli says. And we discuss how the impact of the Hormuz crisis compares to the shock that the COVID pandemic imposed on the world, in terms of economic growth and inflation. Is climate denialism on the rise? Prof Katharine Hayhoe on science, faith and algorithms 07.05.2026 34分Katharine Hayhoe is a climate scientist and an evangelical Christian who lives in Texas and knows how to reach out to conservatives who might see climate change as a party political rather than a science-based issue. Two years after she last spoke to Radio Davos, Prof Hayhoe assesses the rise of climate denialism, particularly on social media, but also the rising awareness of the issue caused by increasingly frequent extreme weather events around the world. The one skill you need to succeed in your career in a turbulent world - by Adam Grant 16.04.2026 31分"We don't live in a stable world anymore. We live in a rapidly changing, turbulent world. And in a dynamic environment, intelligence is not just your ability to think and learn, it's your capacity to rethink and unlearn." Adam Grant, organizational psychologist, podcaster, and author of the bestseller "Think Again", tells us why we are wrong in many of our assumptions about today's world, and why we would all benefit from tackling our own biases - not least the "I'm-not-biased" bias. And he explains why the wrong sorts of people too often get promoted or elected to positions of power. Adam spoke to Radio Davos at the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland. Your 'first time' can shape democracy: the psychology of voting 02.04.2026 34分Our first experiences of voting can colour our participation in democracy for life, according to political science Professor Michael Bruter. The director of the Electoral Psychology Observatory at the London School of Economics reveals other surprising findings about voter behaviour, and explains why societies appear to be more polarised than ever, and what can be done to counter that. AI can lie, hack and blackmail: Yoshua Bengio on how to tame the "baby tiger" of tech 26.03.2026 27分If AIs can think for themselves, what is to stop them doing bad - perhaps really bad - things? Yoshua Bengio, one of a handful of people considered a "godfather of AI", says AIs are already displaying bad behaviours, including hacking computers and blackmailing humans. He tells Radio Davos about his work aimed at taming the "cute baby tiger" that is likely to grow up to be a man-eating wild animal if we do nothing now.
