Why "Just Listen to Your Body" Won't Get You in Shape 19.09.2026 22minTo sign up for my coaching: https://calendly.com/obhealth/consulationI recently turned down someone who wanted to work with me, and I think a lot of people can learn from it. She got her dream body once without tracking anything, then got obsessed, got bulky, wrecked her gut health, and now wants to go back to "just listening to her body." This episode is about why that doesn't work, why your body tells you the symptoms but never the inputs, and why tracking your data is the privilege you earn, not the thing you skip. Plus the sourdough analogy that explains all of it, and my own eating disorder story.Want a coach who builds around your actual data instead of guessing? We get into the mental side of fat loss almost no one talks about: why you self-sabotage, why shame keeps you stuck in the all-or-nothing cycle, how to take imperfect action, and what it actually takes to trust yourself again. Your "High Cortisol" Isn't the Problem. Here's the Root Cause 24.08.2026 10minTo sign up for my coaching: https://ob-health.com/Your doctor treats the number on your blood work. The supplement industry sells you a symptom. Almost nobody goes after the actual root cause — and for most people, the root cause of high cortisol, chronic inflammation, water retention, and even high blood pressure is one thing: body fat.In this episode I break down why we're obsessed with treating after-effects (statins, cortisol blockers, "metabolism boosters," GLPs) instead of fixing the source, how the marketing around all of it is engineered to keep you on a lifelong subscription, and what to actually pay attention to if you want to lose fat and get these markers back in range.Want a coach to help you find and fix the root cause instead of chasing symptoms? Why You Keep Gaining the Weight Back (Take a Diet Break) 24.08.2026 12minTo sign up for my coaching: https://ob-health.com/If you keep losing weight and gaining it right back, this is why. It's not willpower and it's not discipline, it's that you never learned the phase nobody talks about: the diet break. In this post-gym dinner talk I break down why the restrict-and-binge cycle keeps you stuck, why obsessing over the scale sabotages you, and why eating MORE at maintenance every 12 to 16 weeks is what actually keeps the weight off for good.I get honest about how coaches (me included) used to love all-or-nothing clients because they get fast, dramatic before-and-afters, and why that's exactly why the weight comes back. I cover what a diet break actually is, the physical signs you need one (stagnant weight, food on the brain, strength dropping, and how the timing differs for men and women), why maintenance teaches you more than the deficit ever will, what the research actually says (it's about adherence, not a magic metabolism boost), and why a coach matters most during the scary part when the scale goes up. If you're a chronic yo-yo dieter, this is your missing piece.CHAPTERS0:00 The restrict-and-binge cycle that keeps you stuck1:05 What today's coaching call was about: diet breaks1:50 Why coaches profit from all-or-nothing clients3:00 What a diet break actually is (every 12-16 weeks)3:45 The signs you need one4:52 Why maintenance teaches you more than the deficit5:35 The research: it's adherence, not metabolism6:40 Why a coach matters most at maintenance8:11 The client who forgot to notice she hit her goal10:26 Track weekly averages, and let health serve your life11:40 The hunger scale (aim for a 3 to 6)If this hit you, comment below and I'll point you in the right direction. Why You're Still Single (The Hard Truth) 22.08.2026 13minTo sign up for my coaching: https://ob-health.com/This one's a curveball. I usually talk fitness, but this turns into the most honest dating and relationship advice I've got, and it starts with a question that applies to everything: are you proud of the person you're becoming? Because the same accountability that builds your body builds your relationships, your career, all of it.Then I go somewhere I've never gone on here: dating, unisex, no alpha-guru nonsense. The hard truth is most people apply standards to a partner they don't hold themselves to. You want someone in shape, driven, and put-together, but are you? I get into why you should stop chasing the same 1% everyone else is fighting over, why it's okay to actually want a relationship instead of feeling guilty about it, why the "gender war" is mostly social-media noise, why dating apps are fine (my sister met her husband on Tinder), and the two things that actually grow a relationship: how much you'll inconvenience yourself for someone, and trading "exchanging information" for real shared experiences.CHAPTERS0:00 Are you proud of who you're becoming?1:09 Why every decision snowballs (my failure story)2:17 One uncomfortable hour vs an uncomfortable life3:46 A curveball: let's talk dating4:10 You're applying standards you don't even meet5:47 Stop chasing the same 1%6:16 It's okay to want a relationship (stop the guilt)7:17 The gender war is mostly social-media propaganda9:43 Dating apps are fine (my sister met her husband on Tinder)10:22 Love means inconveniencing yourself11:18 Stop "exchanging info," start sharing experiences13:28 We've become a world of hypocritesWant coaching that changes more than your body? Fitness Didn't Change My Body. It Saved My Life. 20.08.2026 20minTo sign up for my coaching: https://ob-health.com/Another raw one, no notes, just woke up. The least impressive thing fitness ever gave me is my body. The real gift was who I became: a better partner, a better business owner, and someone who actually wanted to be here. In this one I get honest about where I started, failed trainer, 60K in debt, rock bottom, and how rebuilding my health rebuilt everything else.I get into why your identity is like a thermostat and how limiting beliefs keep you stuck, why the same traits that build a body build a business, why it's okay to want to look good and want more for yourself, and the part nobody talks about on a fitness journey: how changing yourself changes who you can be around. The Truth About Ozempic, From Someone Who Actually Took It 19.08.2026 13minTo sign up for my coaching: https://ob-health.com/Everyone's saying Ozempic and other GLP-1s cause muscle loss, osteoporosis, a slower metabolism, even a shorter life. That's true and completely false at the same time. In this one I break down the nuance nobody gives you: those side effects are correlation, not causation. I coach over 100 clients on GLP-1s and they aren't wasting away, so what are they doing differently? I also took one myself just to understand exactly what it feels like. The truth is a GLP just kills your appetite. On easy mode, you use it as a tool, hit your protein, train, and learn nutrition, and it can be genuinely life-saving. On hard mode, you stick a needle in your stomach, change nothing, eat 800 to 1,200 calories of the same processed food, lose muscle instead of fat, and gain it all back and then some the moment you stop. I get into why some doctors demonize it and others push it, why the drug just amplifies your existing habits, the identity shift you actually need, and how we help clients get off it for good instead of renting their body for $499 a month.CHAPTERS0:00 The scary Ozempic claims (are they even true?)1:12 Correlation vs causation (my 100+ clients on GLPs)2:20 I took one myself: here's what it's actually like3:20 GLPs on easy mode vs hard mode4:35 Why some doctors hate GLPs (follow the money)7:18 The Minnesota Starvation parallel (why you regain more)9:05 Doctors, 20 hours of nutrition, and my creatine story10:12 The thermostat: you have to become a healthier person11:07 How we get clients off GLPs for good12:36 Free diet review (link below)FREE DIET REVIEW: I built a 40-question quiz that gives you a full, research-backed breakdown of your current diet, what you're missing, the side effects you might be having, and exactly what to change. The Least Impressive Thing Fitness Gave Me Is My Body" | Kelly Poole 19.08.2026 1val 26minTo sign up for my coaching: https://ob-health.com/This might be the most honest conversation I've had on the podcast. I sat down with mindset and fitness coach Kelly Poole (@kellykpoole), who's trained in NLP and specializes in the part almost no one addresses: why you already know what to do and still can't get yourself to do it. We go way past macros and workouts into identity, limiting beliefs, self-sabotage, and the internal work that actually makes change stick. We both get vulnerable in a way I usually don't. Kelly opens up about her abusive relationship and the binge eating she worked through, and I share my own eating disorder, my childhood, the rock bottom that nearly ended me, and how radical accountability turned it all around. She also flips the script and coaches me live, calling out something no one ever has: that I've never actually celebrated a single win. We get into discipline versus devotion, why "balance" has to be earned, how to handle the people who judge you for having standards, why changing your mind is growth, and women, leadership, and why wanting a partner is nothing to be ashamed of.If you've ever felt like you have all the information and still can't follow through, this one is for you.CHAPTERS0:00 Intro: meet Kelly Poole3:54 Why information doesn't change you (identity & limiting beliefs)6:05 Fitness is the ultimate metaphor for business10:49 Discipline vs devotion (when it turns toxic)14:27 The truth about balance (you have to earn discipline)17:15 I open up: 6 years with an eating disorder19:33 Kelly's abusive relationship and extreme ownership28:00 The take that got her "cancelled" (and the MRI wake-up)34:15 What real vulnerability actually is41:24 My rock bottom, and how I found my way back45:32 Learning to live in uncertainty47:30 Kelly coaches me live: have you ever celebrated a win?51:33 Celebrate what you want repeated55:16 When high standards feel like an attack1:03:15 Why changing your mind is growth1:13:50 Women, leadership, and wanting a partnerFollow Kelly: @kellykpoole on Instagram, and her podcast The Greatest Project.Want coaching that works on the mindset and the macros? The 4-Step Fat Loss Method I Charge Thousands For (Free) 18.08.2026 40minTo sign up for my coaching: https://ob-health.com/This is the complete fat loss system I use with my coaching clients, the one that's genuinely made seven figures and changed thousands of lives, and I'm giving it away for free. If you eat clean, train, hit your steps, and the scale still won't move, this explains exactly why, and the four phases that actually get you lean and keep you there without wrecking your metabolism or your hormones. We walk through the whole thing in plain English: how to find your calories and why the first two weeks make you look worse (it's water and glycogen, not fat), the macros that keep your muscle on so your metabolism doesn't crash, how your metabolism actually works (and why the gym is the smallest piece), the exact protein, fat, carb, and fiber targets to hit, how to train in as little as 30 minutes (even from home), and then the phases most people never reach: the reverse diet, the lean bulk, and the diet break that keeps you sane and keeps the weight off for good. Plus why "clean eating" can still make you fat, why fear-based nutrition advice sells so well, and why you can eat the acai bowl or the McDonald's and still hit your goals.CHAPTERS0:00 Why a calorie deficit alone isn't enough1:34 Phase 1: Finding your calories (and weekly weigh-ins)3:03 Why you look WORSE the first two weeks5:31 The Minnesota Starvation Study (why you regain it)9:00 How your metabolism actually works (BMR, NEAT, TEF)10:54 Carbs, fats, fiber, and the seed-oil truth15:30 The exact macro formula (protein, fat, carbs, fiber)17:37 How to train (3 to 5 days, even from home)21:42 You can build muscle and lose fat at the same time22:11 Phase 2: Reverse dieting (why it works)27:13 Phase 3: The recomp and lean bulk31:00 Phase 4: Diet breaks (the mental reset)33:07 Why fear sells, and why "clean eating" is a lie39:35 The takeaway (and how it transfers to your whole life)Want someone to build this around your body and hold you accountable through every phase? You Can Get Fat Eating "Clean and Healthy" 16.08.2026 18minTo sign up for my coaching: https://ob-health.com/Having high standards feels like an attack to people who have none. If you've ever been judged for ordering the salad, hitting the gym, or bettering yourself, this episode is about why that happens, why the people closest to you (friends and even your partner) can quietly pull you back down, and how to handle it without losing yourself. Then the other half no one wants to hear: you can get fat eating "clean and healthy," because it was never about clean ingredients, it's about calories, then macros, then how you actually feel.Inside: why judgment is just projection and how to shut it down by asking one simple question, why you may have to change your environment and your friend group, why doing it with your partner matters, and why you can have your dream habits right now even if the body takes 90 days to show. Plus why fit people don't really diet, why "eat clean" can make you gain weight just as easily as lose it, why an acai bowl can beat a McDonald's order in calories and lose to it in protein, and why you should chase your body composition instead of the number on the scale. Processed Food Isn't Making You Fat (Here's What Is) 14.08.2026 22minTo sign up for my coaching: https://ob-health.com/Clean eating is one of the most misunderstood ideas in fitness, and "you can't eat processed food" might be the worst advice of all. This episode breaks down why you can eat McDonald's, cereal, or a donut and still lose weight, why a calorie deficit comes first (then macros, then micronutrients), and why the all-or-nothing "only whole foods" approach is actually keeping you stuck. No fads, no fear-mongering, just how fat loss actually works.Inside: why "processed" is basically a meaningless word (everything is processed, the real issue is ultra-processed) and why food companies make food tasty to sell more, not to make you fat. Why an acai bowl can have more calories than a McDonald's order with a fraction of the protein. The 80/20 rule and how to order at a work dinner without looking like a robot. How to "pre-game" your meals with protein and fiber so you never overeat. Why tracking calories is the least restrictive thing you can do (think of it like a daily bank account). Why Everyone Hates When You Get Fit 09.08.2026 17minIf you've ever tried to get in shape and noticed people around you suddenly acting weird about it, this one is for you. This episode is about why people seem to hate it when you get fit, why the people closest to you (especially your partner) can quietly sabotage your progress, and how to push through it. Plus how discipline in your health quietly upgrades your money, your career, and your relationships, and the one decision that changed my life. Here's what we get into: why your body becomes your "outfit" and the one thing you still can't buy, why someone bettering themselves makes others feel worse (and how that projection shows up from friends, family, and partners), why you should bring your partner on the journey instead of going it alone, how the discipline you build in the gym carries into your finances and your work, why first impressions and the law of primacy mean people box you in within seconds, why tracking your food is actually freeing instead of restrictive, and how to handle the people shaming your plate. I also get real about my own six years with disordered eating, being broke and bitter, and the single snap decision that turned it all around. If you keep waiting for more information or the perfect Monday, this is your reminder that you already know enough to start.CHAPTERS0:00 Intro: stop letting people define your purpose0:49 Your body is your outfit (you can't buy muscle)2:06 Why people hate when you get fit2:53 Why you should do it with your partner3:54 Do you want to be the average person?4:30 How health discipline pays off everywhere (client stories)6:11 First impressions, the law of primacy, and your environment8:15 What actually gives you purpose (and why tracking is freeing)9:50 How to handle the people shaming you12:05 My eating disorder, being broke, and bitter14:24 The one snap decision that changed everything16:14 You don't need more info, you need to start todayWant someone to actually make you do it? Everything Science Says About Fat Loss (No Fads) 01.08.2026 48minWant us to build your nutrition and training so it actually sticks? Apply for OB Health coaching here: https://ob-health.com/This is the science-backed fat loss episode, no fluff, no fads. If you've been eating "clean," hitting your protein, and still stuck, or you think your metabolism is broken, this breaks down what's actually going on and what to do about it. We cover protein, metabolism, why the weight keeps coming back, plateaus and diet breaks, GLP-1s, menopause and PCOS, the fad diets, and supplements, all in plain English.Inside: how to spot low-quality "high protein" products and read a label properly, how much protein you actually need (and why it won't hurt your kidneys), why your metabolism feels slow (hint: it's mostly how much you move, not your thyroid) and how to fix it with steps and tracking, why most people regain the weight and what the Minnesota Starvation study really teaches, why "The Biggest Loser" and 75 Hard set people up to fail, how to tell a real plateau from a normal week and why a planned diet break can restart fat loss, an honest GLP-1 update, the truth about menopause weight gain and PCOS (and why muscle and protein matter more than any hormone excuse), why keto, carnivore, and fasting all "work" for the same boring reason, and which few supplements are actually worth your money.CHAPTERS0:00 Intro: today's topics0:51 Protein: the label scam and how to actually read them10:17 Is your metabolism actually broken?17:00 Why the weight always comes back19:27 The Minnesota Starvation Study, explained22:08 Why "The Biggest Loser" is a sham (and why 75 Hard fails)25:27 Plateaus and diet breaks32:38 GLP-1s: an update (regain and tapering off)34:45 Women: the menopause weight-gain myth and HRT38:20 PCOS: what actually helps40:00 The diet war settled: keto, carnivore, and fasting43:34 Sugar, insulin, and artificial sweeteners45:49 Supplements: what's actually worth takingCoaching clients: our $3,000 challenge is running in August 2026, details inside the program. If this helped, like and subscribe. the truth about gaining muscle and losing fat(recomping) 23.07.2026 39minTo sign up for my coaching: https://ob-health.com/Ozempic, GLP-1s, body recomposition, cortisol, and the real math behind building muscle while losing fat. This is a long-form solo breakdown of what actually changes your body composition and what the industry sells you instead. I even took a GLP-1 myself so I could understand exactly what my clients feel when they're on one. Here's what we get into: why "the scale not moving" is usually a story you tell yourself, and how slowly you actually build muscle (roughly 1 to 2 pounds a month at best), so a flat scale almost always means a tiny deficit, not a hidden recomp. Why a calorie deficit done wrong can genuinely stall your metabolism when protein, training, and micronutrients are missing, and why "eat less" is the tip of the iceberg (about 95% of Americans don't even hit their fiber). Then the honest GLP-1 deep dive: who these drugs truly help (the chronically obese and diabetics, where they can be life-saving), and why they still get handed out with almost no guidance. The problem isn't one villain, it's the incentive structure. The system pays for a 90-second prescription but not for the hour of nutrition coaching people actually need, so the medication shows up with zero plan attached. Take it without protein and resistance training and you lose muscle and bone right alongside the fat (DXA data shows a large share of the loss can be lean mass), which is a big reason regain is so common once people stop. We've helped clients come off GLP-1s and keep the weight off by teaching them how to eat. I'll also cover the libido question (usually just not enough essential fats), why muscle is the real flex for men and women, and why more strength is tied to lower all-cause mortality. Plus intuitive eating (you have to earn it by tracking first, because you can't listen to a body that's only ever craved hyper-palatable junk), and the cortisol myth: cortisol does not make you fat, it mostly influences where fat sits and can drive stress eating, and it tends to drop as you get leaner. We finish on the supplement and "cortisol test" scams, and a quick rant about the Conor McGregor fight.CHAPTERS0:00 Intro: what we're covering today0:23 Recomposition: why "the scale not moving" is a lie7:02 Why a calorie deficit alone can wreck your metabolism12:26 GLP-1s and Ozempic: the good, the abuse, and the muscle problem21:43 I took a GLP myself, here's what it's actually like23:31 The libido myth on GLPs and diets25:16 The "buy skinny" era: why muscle is the real flex25:44 Intuitive eating: why you have to earn it first30:38 There is no "one magical thing"31:33 The cortisol myth34:39 Cortisol tests, fat burners, and the supplement scams37:58 The Conor McGregor fight (quick rant)Want us to build your nutrition and training the right way, GLP-1 or not?
