  What does it actually mean to suffer well? In this episode, we're joined by a special guest, Dr. Beth Madison, for an honest conversation about suffering and the kind of faith that is formed when God doesn't immediately change our circumstances. We often think suffering well means being strong, holding it together, or somehow finding the right attitude in the middle of something incredibly hard. But maybe suffering well has much less to do with our strength and much more to do with learning to depend on His. Beth shares how suffering hasn't simply tested her faith but has transformed it. Through weakness, limitations, tears, and seasons she never would have chosen, she has learned the truth of 2 Corinthians 12:9 in a deeply personal way: His grace really is sufficient, and His power really is made perfect in weakness.   We're catching up on all the things this week including Fran's recovery, our time speaking at Jesus & Jammies, a few words we absolutely cannot stand, and a new Bible study Angela is loving. Then we turn to Psalm 139 and a question that hits a little closer to home: If God already knows everything about us, why are we still tempted to hide? We're talking about the important difference between conviction and condemnation, how to recognize the voice of shame, and why the Holy Spirit's conviction is always an invitation to repentance, freedom, and a closer relationship with God. Sometimes seeing what's really in our hearts is uncomfortable (and even embarrassing) but God doesn't reveal what needs to change so we'll run from Him. He invites us to bring it into the light. Psalm 139 reminds us that we are already fully known. The question is whether we're willing to stop hiding and pray, "Search me, God, and know my heart."   What if the very thing you're ready to move past is the place where God is doing His deepest work? This week, we're talking about what it looks like to sit in the deep things with the Lord, to slow down long enough to let Him search our hearts, reveal what's underneath the surface, and lead us instead of rushing ahead to the next thing. Psalm 139 reminds us that God already knows us completely, so why do we still pray, "Search me, God, and know my heart"? Maybe the searching isn't for Him to discover something about us. Maybe it's for us to become willing to see what He already sees. We talk about trials, perseverance, our desire for control, the discomfort of conviction, and the strange tension of waiting on God when we desperately want to know what comes next. Sometimes faithfulness looks less like figuring everything out and more like putting down the phone, quieting the noise, and giving the Lord room to speak.   What if the thing you're trying to hide is the very thing God wants to heal? This week on Rambling Through Everyday Life, we go from monkeys in Costa Rica and an RV adventure to engagement news, books we're loving, and a much deeper conversation about faith, vulnerability, confession, and being truly seen by God. Fran opens up about a hard season and what the Lord is teaching her about the condition of our hearts. We talk about the desire to be seen and known, the motives behind what we do, and how easily we can overlook sinful patterns because they don't seem like a big deal. But sin left unconfessed doesn't stay small. It spreads like kudzu, quietly choking out the growth happening around it until we deal with it at the root. And confession? It isn't telling God something He doesn't already know. It's inviting Him into the places that need healing.
