  Today’s One Day, Many Voices is about celebrating diversity, inclusion, and making sure that everybody gets the chance to have their voice heard. But of course, that’s not something that should happen just for one day. Right across Tipperary, there are people and groups doing great work all year round to make our communities more welcoming, more inclusive, and to make sure nobody feels left out. One of those groups is Clonmel Together, and joining me in studio now is their PRO, Dean Buckley.

  Two years ago, our good friend of the show Michelle O’Shea challenged me to spend some time in a wheelchair and see for myself some of the everyday barriers wheelchair users face. So myself and Leanne headed off to the IWA in Tipperary Town, and believe me, it was an eye-opener. Things most of us take for granted — getting through a building or even using a cash machine — suddenly became a real challenge. Michelle spoke then about the barriers she faces every day and called on politicians to experience it for themselves and, more importantly, listen to wheelchair users.

  Tipperary’s Indian community brings a huge amount of colour, culture and community spirit to the county. We see that at events like the Tipp Vinayaka Festival and Community Fair, but there’s so much more behind the celebrations — the traditions, customs and heritage. So today, as part of One Day, Many Voices, we’re finding out a little more about the Indian community here in Tipp. And joining me in studio is Kuldeep Joshi, Director Treasurer of the Federation of Indian Communities in Ireland, Vice Chair of the Ireland India Business Association and a board member of the Tipperary Public Participation Network.
