  Two sixteen-year olds have been killed and three others critically injured after gunmen opened fire on a group of teenagers inside a house at KwaBester, Area 10, near Ntuzuma, north of Durban. Police say about five teenagers were inside the house when unknown attackers entered and opened fire. One of the victims, Ntando Kwazi Njova, had turned 16 just a day before the shooting.   Different views exist among the members of the Ad Hoc Committee on whether President Cyril Ramaphosa has flouted his constitutional responsibilities. This accordingly, by not acting against former Police Minister Bheki Cele. In 2022, the now retired Lieutenant-General Francinah Vuma accused Cele of political interference, after Vuma launched investigations into senior police officials in relations to alleged improper procurement activities among other things. The EFF made the submission during the deliberations on the draft report that Ramaphosa must be cited to have committed misconduct regarding his responsibilities as the President.   Former Justice Minister Jeff Radebe says he was never involved in, or made aware of, secret negotiations between the ANC and the apartheid government concerning post-TRC prosecutions. Testifying at the TRC cases inquiry, Radebe says he first became aware of talks between the ANC leadership and the apartheid regime while he was imprisoned on Robben Island. He says Nelson Mandela later briefed some ANC members at Victor Verster prison in 1989, but he was not part of those discussions.  The TRC cases inquiry continue its cross-examination of former Justice Minister Jeff Radebe.

  North West businessman and self-proclaimed political fixer Brown Mogotsi has been denied bail in his fourth application. The Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court found that the addresses presented by Mogotsi did not constitute new facts, as they had already been considered in his previous bail applications. He faces multiple charges including unlawful possession of a firearm.   Water restrictions are on the cards in the Western Cape as dam levels decline ahead of the hot summer months. The latest figures show the Cape Town Water Supply System at 76.6 percent, compared with 92.3 percent at the same time last year. Thee waterskloof Dam, the system's largest, is at 76.8 percent.
