Gareth made history as the first active professional rugby player to come out as gay. Nicknamed “Alfie” Gareth excelled in the sport and captained his home country, Wales, on countless occasions. In 2019 he revealed online that he is HIV+ and has campaigned tirelessly since then to end the stigma surrounding the condition with his work at Tackle HIV.
