From being too cool for vulnerability, through treacherous coping mechanisms during heartbreak, to intracity long-distance relationships, we get into why the dating scene in this wondrous city is the way it is, and why being broke should not be a hindrance to finding love. But hey, we are not experts oh. Neighbourhoods are flooding, buildings are collapsing, and places are burning, but the 'Ogas at the top' think it is best we focus on allegedly high-priority bills and blaming citizens for the state of the nation. As if the near-impossible task of trying to live and thrive as the average Ghanaian is not frustrating enough. This week's episode is a bit of a social studies lesson as we get into xenophobia, homophobia, and dissect whether we’re focusing on what actually improves people’s lives or furthering unnecessary agendas. And that's what inspired this episode. The Yappers got together to watch Raat Rani, a story from Modern Love Mumbai, about Lali and how she pulls herself through heartbreak after she wakes up one morning and realizes that her husband, Latvi, has left her. We get into staying (and leaving) unhealthy relationships, what heartbreak has looked like for both of us and how the world around us has reminded us that we are going to get through the difficult days. But this conversation was not inspired only by heartbreak, it was also inspired by hope and the magnificence of women all over the world, and the magic we create when we choose to put ourselves first.
