JOHN HOLT TRIBUTE MIX 30.05.2026 1t 25minJohn Holt (1947–2014) was a legendary Jamaican singer and songwriter who played a pivotal role in shaping the sounds of Rocksteady and Reggae. Before going solo, he was the lead singer of the iconic group "The Paragons". He wrote their biggest hit, "The Tide Is High," which later became a global #1 for Blondie. In the early 70s, he went solo and became one of Jamaica's biggest stars. His track "Stick By Me" was the biggest-selling Jamaican single of 1972. The 1974 album "1000 Volts Of Holt" is considered a masterpiece, blending reggae with orchestral arrangements. It helped him break into the UK mainstream. In 1983, he released the massive hit "Police In Helicopter", which remains a "ganja anthem" and one of the most recognizable tracks in reggae history. Known as a "crooner," Holt had a smooth, soulful voice that made him a pioneer of the Lovers Rock subgenre and is remembered as one of the most consistent and prolific songwriters in Caribbean music history.

He formed the group "The Wailers" with childhood friends Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh in the early 1960s. Marley was a committed Rastafarian, a faith that emphasizes African pride and spiritual unity. His beliefs were central to his lifestyle and song lyrics and he used his platform to address poverty, racism, and political corruption. In 1978, he received the United Nations Peace Medal for his efforts to unite political factions in Jamaica.

PETER TOSH TRIBUTE MIX 09.05.2026 2t 54minPeter Tosh (born Winston Hubert McIntosh; 1944–1987) was a Jamaican reggae musician and a founding member of The Wailers. Known as the "Steppin' Razor," he was the more militant and outspoken contemporary of Bob Marley. He co-founded the group with Bob Marley and Bunny Wailer in 1963. He was a self-taught guitar player and keyboardist who played a crucial role in developing the band's signature sound. After leaving the group in 1974, he released his iconic debut album, Legalize It (1976), which became a worldwide anthem for the decriminalization of cannabis. His lyrics were deeply political, focusing on human rights, African liberation, and the fight against apartheid.
