  • S3E147 Three Questions and Three Quick Things 10.08.2026 47min
Eric, Kevin, and Matt from Stateside Gooners have three very specific questions they’d like to answer in this episode: 1) Bruno Guimarães is signed: impact on the team and who starts?; 2) With Vini, Jr. now out of play for Arsenal, what can be done about left wing and is there another big signing waiting in the wings?; 3) Defending in the preseason has been awful, what is the cause and can it be fixed? The three wind up the episode with three quick things that you will enjoy. As always we’d love to hear your comments to the episode, fan origin stories, and questions you may have for us. You can leave your comments on Substack or via DM to Eric and Matt on the Bluesky app on @StatesideGooners Check out Stateside Gooners Substack for written material. As we ramp up to the 26/27 season, you can see Matt’s thoughts on what each player needs to improve from 25/26. The midfielders can be found here:
  • S3E146 Girona Review and Silly Season 03.08.2026 1h 12min
Stateside Gooners review the preseason friendly with Catalonian club Girona FC and then talk transfers in and out.Stateside GoonersAug 02, 2026The transfer window is open, and if you follow Arsenal on your phone, the club is apparently signing about forty players a day. Almost none of it is true. Some of it is. This week we sort it out.We break the entire summer rumour mill into three tiers. The deals that are essentially done, the ones with real interest but a real wall in front of them, and the ones that somebody invented for clicks. If you are American and you have no idea which of these outlets to trust, this is the episode for you. We name our sources, we tell you which tier they sit in, and we tell you what you can trust.Plus, we get into the 4-1 pre-season win over Girona. Max Dowman was the story of the night, a sixteen year old who produced both a goal and an assist and was at the heart of everything Arsenal did well, including a turn and through ball for the opener that was the best moment of the match. And new signing Christos Tzolis marked his debut with a goal, showing exactly the tenacity and technical quality that has fans wondering if he might turn out to be the bargain of the window.New episodes Sunday and Wednesday nights. • S2E145 Stateside Gooners Round of 16 World Cup Special 08.07.2026 1h 17min
How does an average 'new American soccer fan' feel about this World Cup and the performance of the USA Men's National Team? Well, we've got Jack Morton here to break it down for us in his way and I think he speaks for many of us, not just the newbies.Let's take a look at what happened in the Round of 16 in a fun and possibly slightly comical way, as we do at Stateside Gooners. From Morocco vs Canada to Switzerland vs Colombia and everything in between we give you a quick recap of each game along with our thoughts. What was your game of the round? Kevin went with Argentina's late remontada against Egypt (3-2) while Matt and Eric went with the first away win at the Azteca in 13 years as 10-man England held of a bullish and relentless Mexico to win by the same score (3-2).Stay tuned over the rest of the summer as we add more Arsenal-specific content along with 'silly season' updates and our 2026-2027 title defense English Premier League season preview. Thanks for listening or watching. • S2E139 Champions League Final PSG 1-1* Arsenal (4-3) 31.05.2026 1h 11min
On this Stateside Gooners, Eric and Matt discuss the Champions League Final against PSG. Losing on penalties is a terrible way to lose the Champions League. Technically, Arsenal were undefeated in the 2025-26 Champions League but did not win the cup. As always we’d love to hear your comments to the episode, fan origin stories, and questions you may have for us. You can leave your comments on Spotify or Apple Podcasts or through social media on Substack or Bluesky @StatesideGooners.
  • S2E138 Arsenal are Champions! 27.05.2026 1h 30min
On this Stateside Gooners, Eric and Matt talk about Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, and his reaction to winning the Premier League. The guys talk about how special a manager Arsenal have and how he has been curious about improving the team’s weaknesses instead of doubling down on the team’s strengths.  We still can’t believe we’ve won the league. There is no Champions League Final preview in this one. You’ll have to wait until Friday for that one. You will get to hear Matt attempt to say Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. As always we’d love to hear your comments to the episode, fan origin stories, and questions you may have for us. You can leave your comments on Substack or via DM to Eric and Matt on the Bluesky app on @StatesideGooners

  • S2WE24: Arsenal 1-0 Everton; Liverpool 1 - 3 Arsenal: WSL Match Day 21 and 22 18.05.2026 59min
On this Arsenal Women’s podcast presented by Stateside Gooners, Matt talks about the last two matches of the 2025-26 season for the women. A season that started with so much momentum and promise with 5 separate competitions and ended with 1 trophy. The Arsenal women’s team said good bye to a couple of club legends this season. Matt discusses the matches, the goals, and talks about the departing legends as well as all the departing players. It sets up an interesting summer. As always we’d love to hear your comments to the episode, fan origin stories, and questions you may have for us. • S2E136: Arsenal v Burnley, T115C, LMFAO Webb, Rules Review 14.05.2026 59min
No game review today. We connected and recorded to take a measured view of the 3-0 win over Palace today, the feels for our squad (if any), Dear Leader Webb's astonishing take on THAT VAR decision, and how IFAB will be taking a review of adjudicating corner kicks next season and/or beyond.Of course, we've upped our Fantasy Rotisserie Chicken game by adding more games, upping the points for games, too. We'd appreciate your (preferably positive) review of our pod using your favorite pod platform, and your further generosity to share us with your pub buds so they can enjoy what we're doing, too. Thank you for listening.
  • S2WE23: Three Matches in an up and down week: Away to Lyon; Brighton; and Aston Villa 13.05.2026 1h 4min
On this Arsenal Women’s podcast presented by Stateside Gooners, Matt recaps the week that was in Arsenal women’s football. There are three games to recap and talk about, each deserved their own podcast but life can get in the way. The second leg of the Lyon-Arsenal Women’s CL tie lived up to the hype. Another great advert for the sport. Lyon were really physical and unlike in the first leg, this ref did not call the fouls. Matt shifts to talk about the away matches to Brighton and Aston Villa and the strikingly different Arsenal teams that took the field. This was a trying week where Arsenal were eliminated from the CL and the WSL title, but Arsenal salvaged the week with some stunning goals and a victory that guarantees CL action in 2026-2027. There is a small preview of Wednesday’s WSL match against Everton (come to think of it, I may not have mentioned that Everton are the opponent). This is a must win for me so that Arsenal control their fate to 2nd place in the WSL ahead of Chelsea.  As always we’d love to hear your comments to the episode, fan origin stories, and questions you may have for us. You can leave your comments on Substack or via DM to Eric and Matt on the Bluesky app on @StatesideGooners
  • S2E135 Arsenal 1-0 West Ham Review 11.05.2026 53min
<Unedited> I would rather have talked about just the one thing in this episode, but we don’t get paid nothing to talk about less, we talk about more.Does that sound a little bit like a Bilbo Baggins birthday party speech?"I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve”The lineup, the injury, the substitutions, the sub that got subbed, the goal, the foul, VAR, the LMFAO (ahem, PGMOL)… we end up talking about it all. And this time we’re on video. Maybe next time we’ll fix our hair?Thank you for tuning in!
  • S2E134 Arsenal 1-0 Atletico Madrid (2-1 Agg) Left Ham Preview~Sort of 07.05.2026 1h 16min
On this episode, Eric and Matt share the absolute joy and excitement of Arsenal qualifying for the Champions League Final (so much fun to write that sentence). Natalie provided audio clips from the match and we’ve spliced that into the episode. We ask and answer the question, “Is Saka back?” We also discuss this newfound lineup mix of technical players surrounding goalscorer Gyokeres. There is not much of a preview of our upcoming match against West Ham on Sunday, but we do talk about the upcoming match. As always we’d love to hear your comments to the episode, fan origin stories, and questions you may have for us. You can leave your comments on Substack or via DM to Eric and Matt on the Bluesky app on @StatesideGooners
  • S2E133 Arsenal 3-0 Fulham (Atletico Preview-ish) 05.05.2026 55min
On this episode of Stateside Gooners, Eric and Matt talk about a fun story about a college bar encounter with a Team 115 Charges fan. Special thanks go out to Kevin for his appearance in Episode 132, can’t wait to have him on again. We move on to talk about the Arsenal Full HAM match and how nice it was to see our starting wingers play like we know they can. This match was comfortable with good goals and strong performances. We also talk about what happened on Monday afternoon at the Hill-Dick stadium and the terrific goal scored by Joao Pedro in the Chelsea - Notting HAM Forest match. There is not much of a preview about the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Athleti, but we are excited to watch this one and see the Emirates stadium.    As always we’d love to hear your comments to the episode, fan origin stories, and questions you may have for us. You can leave your comments on Substack or via DM to Eric and Matt on the Bluesky app on @StatesideGooners
  • S2E132 Atletico Madrid 1-1 Arsenal (PKs Until AFC) (Full Ham Preview) (Big Ups to Kevin Gemp) 30.04.2026 1h 21min
Arsenal draw Atletico in the away leg of the UEFA Champions League Semi-Final. Preview English Premier League Match Week 35 as Arsenal host Fulham at Emirates Stadium. Welcome to Kevin Gemp.Possibly the longest episode ever? Could be, you’ll have to let me know because I’m not checking. I only know I had a great time with Kevin and after you’ve heard his origin story, you’ll know why we probably would like to see him again should (when?) new silverware is won.How do we describe this game? Tale of two halves? Not quite? Finishers better than Starters? I’m not sure. Certainly in the 2H, but 1H was a different story. I got it, tale of PKs or maybe tale of ref/VAR decisions. Yeah, that’s it.Fulham (Full Ham) are up next at the Emirates on Saturday. We give a preview and Kevin adds his prediction to Fantasy Rotisserie Chicken. Thanks for listening. Do the thing. Let us know your thoughts about the episode. Positive comments only, ya’ll. Thanks.
  • S2E131 Arsenal 1-0 Newcastle (UCL Semi-Final Away Leg Atletico Madrid) 27.04.2026 1h 9min
In a game that was closer than it could have been, but for the fact that whenever Arsenal score, we retreat. (?)3 points won is what we got and it's exactly what we needed and wanted...Atletico Madrid up next at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium. That's 70,000 fairly rabid Atleti supporters that will whistle so much my wife will beg me to turn the sound off. How will that affect our players? Thanks for listening. When you're at the pub having a beer with your Arsenal mate, tell them about Stateside Gooners. Do the Thing.
  • S2WE22: Arsenal 2-1 Lyon UCL Semifinal 1st leg 26.04.2026 58min
On this Arsenal Women’s podcast presented by Stateside Gooners, Matt talks about the “great advertisement” for football that was the first leg of the Women’s Champions League semifinal match between the Arsenal women against Lyon. This was a match full of strong pressing from both sides, entertaining style, and an Arsenal victory. Great news from Saturday’s WSL results with league leader Manchester City dropping points to Brighton. Arsenal women have 3 games in hand and 7 matches in 20 days, so this is a really important and busy final block. Where would you rather be? There is no preview of Wednesday’s WSL match against Leicester City, but this is a must win match to accumulate points in the WSL race and the all important 2026-2027 Champions League spots. Rotation will be in order but how much rotation can be done?  As always we’d love to hear your comments to the episode, fan origin stories, and questions you may have for us. You can leave your comments on Substack or via DM to Eric and Matt on the Bluesky app on @StatesideGooners Link to article referred to in the episode

A long time ago, in a childhood far away, my kids watched iCarly. The kids on the program had a habit of dancing at random times every few episodes. It was the best part of the show for me.On this episode, Sweets and Scooter take a break from Arsenal’s title aspirations to have a look at their Bluesky feed and find some interesting stories.Stateside Gooners BlueskyThere is also discussion about pizza, kidney beans, Star Wars, and LEGO sets. College visits, neighborhood streets, and the US Men’s World Cup aspirations. As always we’d love to hear your comments to the episode, fan origin stories, and questions you may have for us.
