Despite facing death threats from his former Jewish allies and skepticism from the disciples in Jerusalem, Saul—later known as Paul—was eventually embraced after Barnabas spoke for him. He became a primary messenger of the Gospel to the Gentiles.

As He ascended into heaven, a cloud hid Him from their sight. Two angels appeared to the staring disciples, promising that Jesus will return in the same way He left. The followers then returned to Jerusalem, gathered in an upstairs room, and devoted themselves to prayer as they waited for the promised Spirit.

The older brother becomes angry, feeling it is unfair, but the father explains that they must rejoice because the lost son has returned. These stories teach that God eagerly seeks, forgives, and celebrates every person who comes back to Him.

There, Jesus’ appearance changed—His face shone like the sun and His clothes became dazzling white. Moses and Elijah appeared and spoke with Him about His coming death in Jerusalem. The disciples, suddenly fully awake, saw Jesus in His glory. Frightened, Peter suggested building three shelters for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah. Then a cloud surrounded them, and God’s voice said, “This is My Son, whom I love. Listen to Him!” When the cloud lifted, only Jesus remained. As they descended the mountain, Jesus instructed them not to tell anyone what they had seen until He had risen from the dead. The disciples obeyed but wondered what “rising from the dead” meant.
