John Holt (1947–2014) was a legendary Jamaican singer and songwriter who played a pivotal role in shaping the sounds of Rocksteady and Reggae. The 1974 album "1000 Volts Of Holt" is considered a masterpiece, blending reggae with orchestral arrangements. It helped him break into the UK mainstream. In 1983, he released the massive hit "Police In Helicopter", which remains a "ganja anthem" and one of the most recognizable tracks in reggae history. Known as a "crooner," Holt had a smooth, soulful voice that made him a pioneer of the Lovers Rock subgenre and is remembered as one of the most consistent and prolific songwriters in Caribbean music history.

Peter Tosh (born Winston Hubert McIntosh; 1944–1987) was a Jamaican reggae musician and a founding member of The Wailers.
