  • 08 Feeling Burnt out? What to do when your caregiving Strength runs out. 3 Rhythms of Renewal during crisis. 10.08.2026 14min
What do you do when you’ve spent all your strength caring for everyone else—and your soul has nothing left to give? Friend, I want to take you into one of the hardest nights of my caregiving journey. I was sitting beside my son in a hospital room during another serious medical crisis. The machines were beeping. The lights never completely went off. Nurses came in and out. Tests seemed endless. His blood levels were dropping, and we were dealing with severe pain, complications, infections, and hemolysis—the breakdown of red blood cells. I had barely slept in days. And somewhere in the middle of all that medical chaos, I looked at myself and thought: “I don't recognize this woman anymore.” I was exhausted. Depleted. Emotionally overwhelmed. And honestly, I was asking God questions I didn't have answers to. “God, are You even here?” Maybe you've been there too. You know every medication schedule. You recognize every change in your child's symptoms. You know the doctors, nurses, appointments, lab results, and emergency plans. You can advocate for everyone else. But when was the last time you sat quietly with God without rushing? That night, something became painfully clear to me: I was pouring from a soul that hadn't been filled in a very long time. And God wasn't asking me to become a better caregiver. He was inviting me to become His daughter again. That realization changed the way I understood rest. Rest wasn't something I had to earn after everything was finished. Rest became something I could receive from God—even in the middle of caregiving. Not necessarily hours. Sometimes just moments. Five quiet minutes with my Bible.A warm cup of tea before everyone woke up.A few minutes of worship music. One deep breath and a whispered prayer: “Jesus, help me.” Those tiny moments became holy rhythms. And little by little, God began strengthening what caregiving had drained. When Another Diagnosis Changes Everything And then came another moment I never expected. My son was 17 when I noticed something wasn't right. We were shopping one Saturday morning when I noticed he was going to the bathroom much more frequently than usual. He also seemed fatigued and weak. As caregivers, we learn to recognize those little changes. The patterns. The behaviors. The subtle signs that something isn't right. I asked him if he was okay. When we got home and he still wasn't feeling well, I knew I needed to get him checked. As a full-time working mom, taking time away from work to care for a child isn't always easy. But my children have always come first. So I took him to the doctor. They ran tests. Then came the words I never expected to hear: His blood sugar was over 600. We were told we needed to get to the hospital. And eventually, my 17-year-old son received a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes—on top of already living with sickle cell disease. I was shocked. I was in denial. I was trying desperately to hold myself together because I didn't want my children to see me panic. I wanted to be strong for them. But inside? I was asking: “God, why?” “Why another battle?” “Lord, where are You?” I didn't have answers. But I did have a choice. I could allow fear to consume me—or I could begin renewing my mind and intentionally replacing hopeless thoughts with the truth of God's Word. That didn't mean the situation suddenly became easy. It meant I stopped pretending I had to carry it alone. I began reminding myself of every crisis God had already brought us through. Every prayer. Every difficult hospital stay. Every moment when I didn't know what would happen next. Every time God had made a way. And I prayed: “God, I don't understand this. But I choose to surrender it to You. You have carried us before, and I need You to show up for me again.” That was a waiting season. And Isaiah 40:31 became deeply personal: “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.” Waiting didn't mean doing nothing. Waiting meant learning to find God inside the uncertain

But God never designed you to live in survival mode. Discover how staying rooted in God's truth gives you stability when life feels uncertain. In This Episode You'll Learn: Why chronic stress affects more than just your physical health The difference between biblical rhythms and self-care routines Why rest is not a reward—it's a command from God How to stay spiritually anchored during medical crises and caregiving challenges Three practica Rhythms you can begin this week How to replace anxiety with God's truth when life feels overwhelming. Memorable Quotes "Rest isn't a reward—it's a command." "You declare God's truth before you feel it." "Your stability isn't found in a perfect routine; it's found in the unchanging presence of God." "The exhaustion cycle ends when you choose rhythms that restore your soul." Key Scriptures Proverbs 32 v 25 "She is clothed in strength and dignity, she can laugh at the days to come." Philippians 4 v 6-7 "Don't be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving make your requests to God." 3 Stress Recovery tools The 5-Minute Scripture Soak — Before you check your phone, before you check your child's vitals or med schedule, speak one scripture out loud. Post it on your bathroom mirror. Let the first words that leave your mouth be God's truth about who you are. The Anchor Phrase — Choose a scripture or declaration for the season you're in. When anxiety spikes, when a diagnosis hits, when you're driving to the pharmacy at midnight — you return to that phrase. It becomes the groove your mind slides back into.  Connect with God— Begin and end your day with intentional        connection. Even thirty seconds of 'God, I'm Yours today' in the morning and 'God, I give this back to You' at night creates a container of sacred space around even the hardest days. Speak Gods promises over your situation and let faith be louder than fear. Replace anxious thoughts with scripture and stop living in survival mode.  Prayer Father, thank You for every caregiver listening today. Remind her that she is not carrying these burdens alone. Help her exchange striving for surrender, anxiety for peace, and exhaustion for Your strength. Root her deeply in Your Word so she remains steady no matter what storms come. In Jesus' name, Amen. • 01 Are you running on Empty like you’ve poured out everything and there’s nothing left for you? 21.06.2026 4min
“Are you running on Empty like you’ve poured out everything and there’s nothing left for you? If you are caring for your child with chronic illness, you know the silent exhaustion no one talks about the sleepless nights, constant worry, the guilt when you think about resting… and the fear that lingers on. But I’m here to share that burnout isn’t your ending? You gave everything today again to everyone but you. Today I’m showing you a different way. This podcast was birth out of my exhaustion and cry to God and he said your pain has purpose and to use my voice to impact other Moms. I will be sharing my struggles and God led Strategies that helped me overcome exhaustion in every way. If you're raising a child with a chronic illness, you know the kind of exhaustion no one talks about. The sleepless nights. The constant worry, the medical appointments. The fear that follows you from one day to the next. The guilt you feel whenever you think about resting. And that lingering question: "How much longer can I keep doing this?" If that's where you are today, I want you to know you are not alone. And burnout does not have to be the end of your story. In this episode, we discuss 3 Biblical rhythms that helped me move from caregiver burnout to sustainable endurance. So grab your coffee, take a deep breath, and settle in. Hey friend, let me introduce you to my world, I’m full time working mom of 3 and have raised 2 of my children now teens both battling Sickle cell blood disorder and recently my son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes on top of SCD that causes excruciating pain and organ damage to the body and this was My Breaking Point It was one of the hardest seasons of my life. We had endured back-to-back hospitalizations. Crisis after crisis. Emergency after emergency. I was doing everything I could to hold my family together. On the outside, I looked strong. But inside, I was completely depleted. I had become so focused on being "Super Mom" that I was carrying burdens God never asked me to carry alone. I was exhausted, overwhelmed, running on fumes and honestly I was close to giving up. Then, in one of my lowest moments, God met me there. As I prayed through my tears, I sensed Him whisper: "Wear My strength the way you wear your clothes." I stopped. What did that even mean? Then suddenly, it clicked. I had been trying to do everything in my own strength. My own effort, my own performance and my own striving. But God was inviting me into something different. Surrender. Peace, rest. 2 Corinthians 12:10 came alive in my spirit: "For when I am weak, then I am strong." Not because of my strength. Because of His, that moment changed everything. Coming Up Next In our next episode, I'll be sharing my REST Framework in greater depth. We'll talk about: How to release guilt and give yourself permission to rest How to heal burnout at the soul level How to create healthy boundaries without feeling selfish How to say "no" without guilt How to stop carrying responsibilities that were never yours to carry You won't want to miss it. Lets pray together Closing Prayer Father, I lift up every caregiver mom listening right now. Remind her that she is seen. Remind her that she is loved. Remind her that she doesn't have to carry this burden alone. Clothe her with Your strength. Fill her with Your peace. And teach her how to rest in You. In Jesus' name, Amen. Until next time, stay encouraged, hopeful, and stay clothed in God's strength.   The Shift That Changed My Life I began creating simple rhythms that supported me instead of draining me. I stopped measuring my worth by how much I could carry. I gave myself permission to rest without guilt. I learned to trust God with outcomes I couldn't control. And slowly, I discovered something beautiful: Peace wasn't waiting on the other side of perfect circumstances. Peace was available right in the middle of the storm. That's what I want for you. I want you to feel emotionally grounded again. Spiritual
