116. Sex Addiction: Excuses Vs Ownership 30.06.2026 17minDoes your sex addiction and pornography use often stem from childhood and your teenage years? Yes. And, you need to make sure you are still taking ownership of your actions today. In the end, you did what you did, and you chose to hide it, lie about it, and repeat it. Too often, I see men who get lost in the recovery plan, recovery definitions, and the betrayal healing steps. The result can be a lack of ownership. I will tell you one thing I know for sure about sex addiction recovery… ownership of your actions is key if you want to achieve lasting recovery and earn back your wife's trust. In this episode, I share a lesson I learned that changed my own sex addiction recovery. It also ended up taking our marriage in a much more positive direction. Ownership and acceptance can be a challenging thing to do on your own. You will need a group of guys to call you out and hold you accountable. This is one of the biggest benefits of peer support in sex addiction recovery. If you have yet to read or listened to my book, you can find it here on Amazon and Audible: https://a.co/d/06J78kat

115. “It’s just porn”, “It was all virtual”, “We never had sex”: Want to Hear The Truth? 23.06.2026 47minSex addicts in recovery will often compare their compulsive behaviors to those of other men they meet in recovery. They will say things like: “Mine wasn’t that bad” “It was just a few times” “We never had sex” “It was all virtual” “It’s just porn” There are a few problems with statements like this. It’s going to hurt your recovery Comparing yourself to others is likely a big part of your recovery and needs to stop Your wife couldn't care less what other men are doing Recovery is about honesty, integrity, and authenticity. It’s about acting in a way that you wouldn’t hide from others. In this episode, Chris Burns and I talk about these comparative statements and the truth behind them. Chris is a certified sex addiction therapist and the founder of Re-write Recovery Counseling. He and I both have a passion for helping men live in integrity with their values. If you’re interested in working with Chris, you can find his website here: https://www.rewrite-recovery.com/ If you are interested in joining one of my recovery groups, you can visit my website here: successfuladdict.com If you have yet to read or listened to my book, you can find it here on Amazon and Audible: https://a.co/d/06J78kat

114. Roland’s Addiction Story 16.06.2026 39minDespite speaking about most of my behaviors over the years. I’ve never shared my sex addiction story on this Podcast before. In this episode, I walk listeners through my journey front to back. My childhood and how things led me to acting out. My early sexual acting-out behaviors and how they evolved. The events that caused me to develop my specific process addiction in my adulthood My discovery process While I’m quite open about my behavior. This was still a scary episode to record. Our world is not ready to accept sex addicts as they are. There is a ton of judgment and, oftentimes, social consequences if people find out about your past behavior. I’ve lived those consequences. I’ve been judged and continue to be judged. I’ve lost friends, businesses, and opportunities because of how public I’ve been about my past. It sucks. Many people won’t let you have this problem. And, that’s not fair. But my hope is that, by being open and sharing my story, the world will one day stop looking at us like freaks and perverts. I always encourage men to be honest about this, but I do want to prepare you for the potential consequences of doing so. For the betrayed partners who listened to this episode, thank you for taking the time to hear my story. I know I speak on behalf of all men in recovery when I say: Thank you for giving us a second chance. We don’t deserve it after what we’ve put you through.

113. What Your Wife Actually Means: “You’re Not Doing Enough Recovery Work” 09.06.2026 56minBetrayed Partners often say, “You’re not doing enough in your sex addiction recovery.” There’s a reason why betrayed partners say this, and you need to understand how to answer this question if you hope to rebuild their trust after infidelity. In this episode, Tiffany Comiskey and I talk about what is going on in the mind of both parties (the sex addict and the betrayed partner) when this question is asked. Tiffany is a certified coach who works with couples, the betrayed, and the betrayer. In this podcast, we talk about how men should respond when their sex addiction recovery work is being questioned. If you are interested in working with Tiffany, you can visit her website here: https://www.hopecfl.com/coach-tiffany If you have not yet read my book, I outline what is required to be in good recovery in great detail. 112. Do You Trust Yourself to Stay Sober? Should You? 02.06.2026 10minDo you trust yourself to stay sober? I don’t, and this podcast explains why. I do believe I will find a way to maintain my sobriety from sex addiction. And, I believe you can too. But I’m nervous living in the world we live in with my personality. High-achieving men have their hands full. Successful male culture in 2026 does not seem to value integrity. The message is, “Never settle! And, get ahead at all costs.” For this reason, you need to keep your head on a swivel. It’s okay not to trust yourself. It’s actually in integrity to say such a thing if it’s true. In this podcast, I’ll explain how to manage this in your own sex addiction recovery. If you haven't read my book yet, I discuss this concept in greater detail. You can find it on Amazon or Audible here:https://a.co/d/04GxERiP

111. Integrity is Key to Recovery and Healing Your Marriage After Sexual Betrayal 22.05.2026 50minIt’s no mystery that integrity is one of the most important pieces in both sex addiction recovery and healing your marriage after infidelity. But what is integrity, and how do you repair the damage caused after cheating? In this episode, I’m joined by one of my favorite experts in the field of sex addiction and betrayal trauma. Dr. Crystal Hollenbeck is an author and Certified Sex Addiction Therapist. Crystal and I talk about integrity and the effects of violating it will have on a marriage. For those interested in reading Crystal's new book, “Betrayal Trauma Anger | You're not Crazy...You're Angry...And You Should Be!: How to Process Complex Anger While Healing from the Impact of Sexual Betrayal” You can find the book here on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FN6P62K8 If you’re struggling with sex addiction or compulsive sexual behavior and you have not yet read my book, you can find it here: https://a.co/d/0dWg1hCs

110. The Sex Addiction Relapse Rate is HIGH. Why Aren’t We Talking About This? 12.05.2026 19minThe sex addiction relapse rate is believed to be between 67 and 80 percent at 5 years. That means only 20-30% of men can avoid relapse. Why aren’t we talking more about this?! In this episode, I go on a bit of a rant. And, it’s likely to offend some people. That was not my intent. My intent was to be helpful. Some people will hear this rant and have had a totally different experience from what I describe. That’s okay. Skip this episode. However, I get on dozens of phone calls each month with men to whom this does apply. They describe the frustrations with their recovery experience and finding like-minded men to connect with. This episode is for them. If you are a high performer looking for a group of like-minded men to connect with in recovery, visit my website. I run small recovery groups of 10 men. They range from business owners, lawyers, doctors, sales professionals, to professional athletes. Fill out an application at www.successfuladdict.com

109. Healing Your Marriage After Infidelity: The 3 Phases Of Betrayal Recovery 05.05.2026 1h 2minHealing your marriage after sexual betrayal can be a mess. Sometimes it feels like you have a plan… other times it feels like you have no plan at all. In this episode, Tesa Saulmon (Certified Sex Addiction Therapist) outlines a clear 3-phase plan that can help. Betrayal trauma recovery is complex. Add that to a sex addict in recovery, and you have quite the challenge. It’s important to use a framework so that your marriage can stay on track. Tesa uses the framework created by Joanna and Matthew Raabsmith to help couples heal after sexual betrayal. In this episode, she explains the 3 phases and how to navigate each one. If you would like to contact Tesa Saulmon, you can find her website here: https://www.roottobloomtherapy.com/ If you’re a high achiever, executive, or entrepreneur and you have not yet read my book, you can find it and the audiobook here on Amazon: https://a.co/d/0iOe8wNU

108. Is Sex Addiction Real? What if You’re Just a Cheater? 28.04.2026 15minI’m not a big fan of the term “sex addiction.” While some men fall into this category, a lot of men don’t. Therefore, calling any guy who has been unfaithful multiple times an “addict” is not necessarily accurate. This matters when you’re in recovery, as treating an addict who isn’t an addict will not work. In fact, it typically backfires and results in relapse. I believe this is why we see such a high rate of relapse. Not because sex addiction is hard to recover from, but because men are not getting the recovery that they actually need. It’s also my belief that this is why many betrayed partners often feel that their husbands are “not in good recovery.” I think that betrayed partners sense a lack of change in the areas that they feel are responsible for their husbands' acting out. While many men find this frustrating (I know I did), I wonder if these ladies are onto something? In this episode, I talk about the difference between an addict and a chronic cheater and what needs to be done differently in recovery. If you don’t resonate with the term “sex addict,” you’re not alone. While each of my recovery groups has 1 or 2 sex/porn addicts, most of the men in my program don’t meet the diagnostic criteria of “addiction.” If you want to dive further into this, check out my book on Amazon or Audible. The book is written from a process addiction approach rather than your typical sobriety/abstinence approach. Here is the link to my book: https://a.co/d/01M8659n

107. What Is Complex Shame? And, Why Most Sex Addicts Are Unaware They Have It 21.04.2026 41minImagine having something holding you back in your sex addiction recovery that you’re unaware of… In this episode, my guest Shirley Lytle (Certified Sex Addiction Therapist) educates listeners on how to spot and manage “complex shame.” I personally found this episode thrilling to record, as I had never heard of complex shame before. Like most complex issues in psychology, it is… complex. Listening to this episode, you will see why. But what I found most interesting was that the majority of sex addicts who are struggling with complex shame have no idea that they have it. This can lead to defensiveness, which we all know stunts sex addiction recovery. If you would like to contact Shirley, you can find her website here: https://lwpc-wa.com/ If you are looking for a group of men to recover with, visit my website: successfuladdict.com My groups are designed specifically for business professionals, entrepreneurs, executives, and business owners who are struggling with sex addiction and chronic cheating.

106. Are You Being Honest With Your Wife? Your Therapist? Yourself? 14.04.2026 12minAre you being honest about your sex addiction? Honest with your wife? Your Therapist? Yourself? The bigger question is, can you be honest? While people call this a “sex addiction,” in my groups, only 10-20% of guys are actually addicted to sex or porn. They get caught, and then they stop. By definition, they’re not a sex addict. So, what are they? Well, the answer to this question matters. If you can’t answer it… are you even in recovery? How do we know these behaviors won’t happen again? Sex addiction is classified as a process addiction. It’s important to understand your unique process if you want to prevent it from happening again. In this episode, I talk about how many men are not in good recovery. Not because they aren’t trying, but because they aren’t being honest about their behavior. If you’re not an addict, then you need a different style of treatment. Abstinence and sobriety-based treatment plans are not going to work for you. If you want to learn more about process addiction and how to discover your specific process, check out my book on Amazon or audiobook here: https://a.co/d/0fhSabK3

105. Many Successful Men Have This Trait, And It May Be Harming Their Recovery 07.04.2026 56minSuccessful men are often “highly sensitive people.” And, the sad part is that they have no idea. I myself am a highly sensitive person, as are most successful entrepreneurs. Our sensitivity is a superpower. However, it can cause difficulties when it comes to sex addiction recovery. In this episode, I’m joined by Jason VanRuler and Mike Vaughn. We connected at a sex addiction conference and decided that this would be a great podcast topic for my listeners. We first define what a “Highly Sensitive Person” is and how it might affect you in recovery. Even if you think you aren’t highly sensitive, I would recommend that you give this episode a listen. You might be surprised. Many of the men in my recovery groups are highly sensitive. Understanding this has been os great help for them when it comes to crafting an effective recovery plan. 104. Why Some Men Act Out, & Others Don’t 31.03.2026 21minIn a hyper sexual world, why do some men act out and others don’t? The Answer: For sex addicts… It’s worth it. Crazy right?! Well, it's less crazy when you learn WHY they act out. Which is exactly what I talk about in this episode. In this podcast, I discuss: How men reach the point where acting out becomes an option How men free themselves from the guilt What men need to do if they want to achieve lasting recovery Sex addiction is a process addiction. It’s complex, diverse, and unique to the individual. As a result, your recovery will need to be customized. If your goal is to restore trust in your marriage, help your wife feel safe, and prevent this from happening again… You need to develop a recovery plan that’s actually going to work for your specific process addiction. If you’re a business professional, an entrepreneur, or an executive looking for a sex addiction recovery group full of like-minded men you can connect with, visit my website: successfuladdict.com

103. What If Something Is Blocking You From Getting Into Good Recovery? 24.03.2026 48minMany sex addicts are not in good recovery. But it’s not always their fault. A “deficit” is when something critical is missing. In terms of sex addiction, a deficit describes a critical element of recovery that is lacking or underdeveloped. The result is a guy who is unable to fully embody the behavior required to recover. This is extremely common in sex and porn addiction, as most men who develop these unwanted behaviors typically lack emotional attunement, integrity, empathy, and many other human skills that were not correctly modeled to them as children. These guys are trying to recover… but may look like they aren’t trying. This is because they intellectually understand what is required, but are unable to do it in real life. In this episode, I’m joined by Chris Jones out of the UK. Chris has been on my podcast before and is one of my favorite guests. He and I share a similar outlook when it comes to sex addiction recovery. For those of you who are interested in working with Chris, you can find him here: https://chrisjonestherapy.co.uk/ If you are a high achiever, business owner, or professional, and you resonated with this episode, visit my website. 102. Is Porn Really That Bad? 17.03.2026 12minYou need a stance on pornography. Is it okay or is it not ok? If you don’t have a stance, you’ll likely relapse. Sex addiction and porn addiction recovery plans need to be crystal clear. And, they can't be clear if you haven’t yet decided if you really want to stop. Now, I know you want to stop (otherwise you wouldn’t be listening to this podcast). But, do you want to stop for you? Or is it because of your faith or your wife? I believe that recovery is only possible if done for you and the betterment of your life. In this episode, I list off some things to consider that will help you solidify your stance against pornography. 101. Is Your Marriage Stuck?: How To Navigate Long-Term Relational Recovery Post Betrayal 10.03.2026 42minIt’s easy to get stuck in the betrayal healing process. It’s hard, confusing, emotional, and ever-changing. While recovering from sex addiction can have its own challenges, relational recovery can often be much more challenging. Yes, it takes time. But there’s also a lot you can do to screw it up and make it take longer. In this episode, I’m joined by Hope Ray, Certified Sex Addiction Therapist. She hosts 3-day couples intensives specializing in working with those healing from sexual betrayal. Hope and I talk about the struggles that couples encounter in recovery after they make it past the crisis stage. Long-term healing looks different than the first 6-months. You will need to practice a different skill set if you want to restore trust and safety. If you and your wife are interested in working with Hope Ray, you can find her website here:https://www.hoperay.com/ On her website, you can also find her private podcast for betrayed partners. For those of you interested in attending one of my intensives, I still have room for a few more men this summer and in the fall. Visit my website to fill out an application: successfuladdict.com

100. How To Build a Recovery Plan That Works Long-term and Rebuilds Trust 03.03.2026 17minIt’s unfortunate how many guys don’t know what a good sex addiction recovery plan looks like. Their long-term sobriety and the health of their marriage are threatened as a result. In this episode, I review how to build a sex addiction recovery plan and what it needs to look like if you want it to be effective. I also discuss what betrayed partners want to see from you before they can trust you again. Recovery doesn’t have to be hard, but you do need a plan that has been psychologically proven to be effective. From there, you need to inform your recovery group so that they can keep you accountable. Recovering from sex and porn addiction is a long road. You’ll need other men to keep you accountable if you’re going to stay in this long enough to make a full recovery. I have 2 chapters in my book that will help you create a recovery plan. You can find my book here on Amazon: https://a.co/d/006Ka8Tr If you’re a high-achieving guy looking for a recovery group full of like-minded men, take a look at my website. You cannot recover without deep connections with men whom you relate to and admire. You’ll find plenty of them in my groups. Visit successfuladdict.com

99. Are You Using a Daily “Check-In” Post Betrayal? And, Is It Helping Your Marriage Or Resulting In Disconnect? 24.02.2026 1h 3min“Check-Ins” are a common thing after sexual betrayal and infidelity. They are intended to rebuild safety and trust. But they can also result in arguments and disconnection. In this episode, I am joined by Dr. Jill Manning. She and I talk about how check-ins can be helpful and how to prevent them from being unhelpful. Betrayed partners often worry that they are not getting the full truth. After being lied to for so long, their brain has a hard time trusting that they know everything their partner is doing. A great way to soothe some of the anxiety is through performing a daily check-in. However, when done incorrectly, these check-ins can end up in conflict, disagreements, and disconnection. Not a great way to end your day (especially if you have to do it again tomorrow!). In this episode, we help recovering sex addicts perform a productive check-in that results in restoring safety and trust for the betrayed partner. If you want to explore working with Dr. Manning, you can visit her website here: https://drjillmanning.com/ If you are a high-achiever seeking a recovery group full of like-minded men, head over to my website. It can be difficult to find guys to connect with in recovery, even more so if you are in the top 2%. This is unfortunate, as connection is EVERYTHING when it comes to recovery. If you are a business owner, professional, executive, or entrepreneur, I have built recovery groups full of men like you. Fill out an application here: successfuladdict.com

98. Is Recovery Working? What If Each Act Needs a Unique Treatment? 18.02.2026 14minEver notice how some parts of your sex addiction just stop, and others seem to stay on your mind? Some might be addictive, others might be sexually compulsive. Some of them may just come down to an integrity issue. This matters. Why? Because if you’re trying to avoid relapse, you need to make sure that treatment is actually going to solve the issue. Because sex addiction is a process addiction, you can’t recover unless you know what you’re recovering from. In this episode, I break down the difference between addictive and compulsive sexual behavior. Why sex and porn addiction treatments may not work for some men and what they will need to do instead. I dive much deeper into this concept in my book, “The High Achiever's Guide to Sex Addiction Recovery: A Proven Blueprint for Successful Professionals to Overcome Sex and Porn Addiction.” For those of you wanting to dive further into the specifics of your own process addiction, visit my website and fill out an application. 97. Sex Addiction and Narcissism: Are You A Narcissist? 10.02.2026 48minNarcissism is a word you’ll hear quite a bit these days. And, it’s often brought up around men struggling with a sex addiction and chronic cheating. But there’s a difference between narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) and narcissistic traits. Betrayed partners are often concerned that their husbands might be narcissists. This episode will clear this up. Dr. Alexandra Repke is a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and has her PhD in Counseling Psychology. The treatment of narcissistic personality disorder is a specialty of hers. In this episode, Dr. Repke explains NPD. We also discuss what is required to overcome narcissistic traits. You can reach Dr. Repke here: https://www.repkepsychologicalservices.com/ If you are a professional, executive, or entrepreneur looking for a group of men to recover with, visit my website here: successfuladdict.com
