  In Romans 8:18, Paul has told us that the Christian will suffer for Christ. Today we'll see that Christianity is unique from other religions in how it tells the believer to deal with suffering by using reasoning. The believer must reason that his future is better than his present, and that his present day suffering cannot be compared to his future glory. From Romans Chapter 8, the believer can recall what God has done for him, who God has told him he is, and what his future is. The believer must let truth and reasoning control his feelings.

  Pastor/Dr. David Murphy discusses the Biblical Doctrine of Sanctification, or as Paul says "mortifying the body". We'll first see that some popular views of sanctification are incorrect, like: the perfectionist view and the victorious life view. Then we'll see that the believer must be actively engaged in Sanctification with the following deductions:1-We must realize who we are and what is true of us as believers: a spirit that's alive, a body that is dead, and the Holy Spirit indwelling.2-Our unredeemed body is the source of our sin problem. We must master and control it.3-We have no obligation to the flesh or to live after it.4-All that pursue the flesh will die, and all that the flesh can offer is death.5-The only obligation the believer has is to the Spirit, Who has a ministry in the believer's life pre-conversion, conversion, and post-conversion. Pre-conversion the Holy Spirit strives, retrains, and convicts the sinner.Post-conversion the Holy Spirit regenerates the believer, baptizes the believer into the body of the church, intercedes for the believer, produces fruit in the believer, and sanctifies the believer.Sanctification involves the working of both the believer and the Holy Spirit in partnership.
