  • S3E26 How Forgiveness Transforms Guilt with Fr. Thomas Berg (Summer Rewind) 30.06.2026 39мин
Friends,  In this Summer Rewind episode, I'm bringing back my conversation with Fr. Thomas Berg, originally released as Choosing Forgiveness. Together, we explore one of the most challenging aspects of the Christian life: what happens when guilt lingers long after we've sought forgiveness. Many of us understand God's mercy intellectually, yet continue carrying shame, self-condemnation, and regret. Fr. Thomas offers profound insights into the relationship between forgiveness, guilt, freedom, and God's healing grace. Drawing from Scripture, spiritual wisdom, and practical experience, this conversation invites us to reflect on Jesus' call to reconciliation and consider how forgiveness can transform not only our relationships with others, but also our relationship with ourselves. Reflection Question If God has already forgiven you, what keeps you from receiving that forgiveness fully? Fr. • S3E25 The Mother Wound: Identity, Boundaries and Forgiveness 23.06.2026 19мин
Friends, In this episode, I explore the mother wound: how early relational experiences shape identity, distort boundaries, and quietly influence how we relate to ourselves, others, and even God. I focus my discussion primarily on the mother-daughter relationship.  Many daughters grow up learning to perform for love, manage emotional climates, and abandon their own needs in order to maintain connection. Over time, these adaptations can harden into identity. This episode is especially for those who have done years of healing work, yet still feel something unresolved beneath the surface. And for those listening who wonder if this applies to you, you may find your own story reflected here, or gain deeper compassion for those you love. Key Takeaway: You are not defined by what was missing. You are being restored into who you were created to be. Resources: Karyl McBride – Will I Ever Be Good Enough? • S3E24 Sacred Battleground: Forgiveness and the Heart 16.06.2026 13мин
Friends,  If forgiveness takes place in the heart, what kind of heart is capable of forgiving? In Episodes 21 and 22, I explored the anxiety that often accompanies forgiveness and practical ways to move through it. In this episode, we go into the heart itself. June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a devotion that invites us to contemplate Christ's boundless love for humanity. As I reflected on the image of the Sacred Heart, exposed, wounded, crowned with thorns, and burning with love, I began to wonder what it might teach us about forgiveness. Many of us move through life with either a hardened heart or a guarded heart. We have been wounded. We have learned to protect ourselves. But is there a difference between protecting our hearts and closing them off completely? Drawing from Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the example of Jesus Himself, I explore what it means to cultivate a heart that is ready to forgive. The Sacred Heart reminds us that suffering does not have to harden us. Through grace, our wounds can become places where God's mercy enters and transforms us. • S3E23: Created for Love: Restoring Authentic Desire in a Pornified Culture 09.06.2026 27мин
Friends,  In this episode, I sit down with Catholic Coach, Husband, and Father, Andrew Lanchoney, to discuss the impact of pornography on the human person and the journey toward healing and freedom.   Together, we explore the deeper questions beneath pornography use: What are we really searching for? Why do so many people feel stuck? And how do we begin restoring authentic desire in a culture that often reduces people to objects for consumption? Drawing on the wisdom of St. John Paul II's Theology of the Body, this conversation offers hope for anyone who has struggled personally, loves someone who has, or wants to better understand the cultural forces shaping our view of human dignity. Freedom is possible. Healing is possible, and authentic love begins when we recognize that we were created for love, not use. • S3E22 Tips for Overcoming Forgiveness Anxiety 02.06.2026 16мин
Friends, What if the anxiety you feel around forgiveness isn’t resistance… but protection? In this episode I explore the very real fear, confusion, and nervous system responses that can surface when we begin considering forgiveness after trauma, betrayal, abuse, or deep emotional pain. Forgiveness is often presented as simple or immediate, but for many people, the thought of forgiving can activate shame, panic, dissociation, hypervigilance, or emotional overwhelm. Why? Because our bodies remember what happened, even when our minds try to move on. Drawing from trauma research, somatic healing principles, and Christian spirituality, I explain how forgiveness anxiety may actually be a signal that deeper healing and safety are needed first. In this episode, you’ll learn: Why forgiveness can feel unsafe in the body How trauma responses impact our ability to forgive The connection between embodiment, emotional safety, and interior freedom Why misunderstanding forgiveness keeps many people stuck The difference between authentic forgiveness and forced forgiveness How unresolved trauma can manifest physically through chronic stress and mind-body symptoms Why becoming a “student of forgiveness” can reduce fear and confusion References:  van der Kolk, Bessel A. • S3E21 Why Forgiveness Can Feel So Scary 26.05.2026 20мин
*Content Warning* This episode contains mature content not suitable for minors. Please use discretion when listening.  Friends,  In this episode, I explore one of the most difficult and rarely discussed questions surrounding forgiveness: Who will I be if I let go of unforgiveness? For many people, unforgiveness is not simply an emotional response to pain. It becomes intertwined with identity, safety, survival, and even spirituality. When we’ve lived for years inside betrayal, abuse, abandonment, or grief, forgiveness can feel less like freedom and more like losing ourselves. In this episode, I share my own journey through childhood sexual abuse recovery and explore: how wounding can become part of our identity, why the nervous system resists unfamiliar peace, the attachment we develop to our personal stories, the spiritual pressure many Christians feel around forgiveness, and how repeated emotional patterns shape the brain over time. If forgiveness feels scary to you, you are not broken. You may simply be standing at a crossroads between survival and freedom. This episode offers compassion, insight, and hope for those who feel stuck in resentment, grief, fear, or confusion around forgiveness. • S3E20 Fighting for Hope: Veteran Suicide and the Battle for Belonging 19.05.2026 43мин
Friends,  As Memorial Day approaches, we pause to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. But there is another group of veterans quietly fighting battles long after deployment ends, those struggling to transition home, find belonging, and rediscover hope in civilian life. In this deeply important conversation, I’m joined by retired Lt. Colonel John Garcia, host of the Regiment of the Cross podcast, to discuss the invisible struggles many veterans face after returning home from service. John shares the heartbreaking realities surrounding veteran suicide, the emotional and psychological challenges of transitioning into civilian society, and the ways advocacy, agriculture, storytelling, and authentic human connection can help restore dignity, purpose, and hope. Together, we explore: Why the transition home can feel isolating and disorienting The importance of belonging and being truly seen The emotional toll of military service and reintegration The alarming statistics surrounding veteran suicide How civilians can better support veterans in their communities Why storytelling and meaningful work can become pathways to healing This episode is both a Memorial Day reflection and a call to greater compassion, awareness, and connection. If you know someone serving in the military, transitioning home, or quietly struggling, please share this conversation with them. • S3E19 When the System Wounds, Who Do We Forgive? 12.05.2026 21мин
Friends,  In a world marked by division, violence, and deep injustice, the question of forgiveness becomes anything but simple. In this deeply personal episode, I reflects on my lived experience of Apartheid, a system that shaped my childhood, understanding of safety, and relationship to truth.  As global events echo familiar patterns of oppression and silenced voices, this episode explores what it means to hold both grief and compassion simultaneously.  Through the life and witness of Nelson Mandela, a man who moved from prisoner to president and chose forgiveness in the face of profound injustice, we are invited into a difficult, necessary question: Who do we forgive when the system itself is the wound? This conversation doesn’t offer easy answers. Instead, it creates space to reflect on: Trauma stored in the body and how it resurfaces The impact of hidden or distorted history The tension between justice and forgiveness The role of our shared humanity (Ubuntu) in healing Why forgiveness begins with people, not systems “Systems are made of people, and when people change, systems change.” Whether you are carrying personal wounds or witnessing injustice in the world around you, this episode invites you to consider one small but powerful step: Who is one person you might be ready to forgive? Friends,  What does it do to your heart, your body, and your sense of safety to love someone struggling with alcohol use? In this episode, I’m joined by holistic health and fitness coach Tresa Salters, who shares her story of loving a spouse with alcohol use disorder, and the lasting impact it had on her mental, physical, and spiritual health. While much of the conversation around addiction focuses on the person struggling, this episode turns the lens toward the spouse and family members who are often left carrying unseen wounds. Tresa opens up about the moment she knew something had to change, how she began protecting herself and her children, and what true healing has looked like in the years since. • S3E13: Narcissism in the Body of Christ: A Story of Abuse, Grace and Forgiveness with Cendrine Hosoda 31.03.2026 38мин
Friends,  In this episode Trauma-informed consultant and Neurosomatic Intelligence Practitioner Cendrine Hosoda shares her story of growing up in an evangelical church community in Switzerland where her father, a respected church elder, used Scripture and spiritual authority to control and manipulate his family. With courage and honesty, Cendrine reflects on what it was like to live inside a faith environment shaped by narcissis, and the long journey toward reclaiming her voice, her body, and her relationship with God. This conversation does not seek to sensationalize suffering. Instead, it offers hope that even in the presence of deep betrayal, healing and grace are possible. As Scripture reminds us in 1 Peter 2:19: "For whenever anyone bears the pain of unjust suffering because of consciousness of God, that is a grace." If you or someone you love has experienced spiritual manipulation, religious trauma, or abuse within a faith context, this conversation offers both validation and a path toward healing. • S3E12 When A Founder Falls: One Priest's Journey to Truth and Forgiveness 24.03.2026 45мин
    * Content Warning* This episode contains mature themes and is not appropriate for minors. Friends, In this vulnerable and sobering episode, I visit with Father John Michael Paul, a Catholic priest who discovered that the founder of his religious community had a decades-long history of sexual abuse.  For someone who spent decades serving as a priest and leader in his community, the betrayal was spiritual, deeply personal, and formative. As someone who entered the Catholic Church shortly before the 2002 abuse crisis, I remember how destabilizing that season was for many of us. In today’s conversation, we explore what happens when the shepherd you trusted is revealed to be a wolf,  and how truth, though painful, becomes the doorway to freedom. In this episode, we discuss: The impact of clergy sexual abuse on priests themselves Betrayal trauma within religious communities Spiritual fatherhood and spiritual disillusionment The difference between institutional loyalty and fidelity to truth How shame keeps abuse hidden The long road toward forgiveness What healing looks like when trust has been shattered A Note to Listeners If you have experienced betrayal within the Church, know this: your pain matters. Truth may take years to surface, but light always exposes what darkness tries to conceal. Forgiveness is not denial. It is not spiritual bypassing. It is a grace which is often slow, often costly, but real. “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – John 8:32 Connect with Dr. Carron Partner with the mission: https://go.drcarron.com/FIFYPodcastGift  Join the weekly newsletter: https://go.drcarron.com/newsletterfreegiftoptin Work with me 1:1 — Looking for shame‑free, nonjudgmental support on your healing journey? • S3E11 Abuse of Conscience: How Faith is Manipulated 17.03.2026 44мин
Friends,  In this episode of the ongoing series on spiritual abuse, I sit down with Catholic Counselor Paul Fahey to explore a subtle but deeply impactful layer of harm: the abuse of conscience. Many of us were taught to “follow our conscience,” but few of us were ever taught how a conscience is properly formed — or how it can be manipulated. When spiritual authority bypasses freedom, pressures compliance, or equates disagreement with sin, faith formation can quietly become control. Paul defines conscience through a Catholic lens and offers concrete examples of how it can be distorted in families, churches, and religious communities. We also discuss how parents can faithfully teach their children without crossing the line into coercion, and why healthy formation always respects human dignity and freedom. If you have ever struggled with religious guilt, fear-based teaching, or confusion about trusting your own moral judgment, this conversation will bring clarity and hope. • S3E10 Somatic Healing for Trauma Survivors: A Catholic Path to Restoration with Sr. Mary Stephen 10.03.2026 35мин
Friends,  In this episode, I welcome Sr. Mary Stephen, founder of Restorative Catholic, to explore a restorative path forward for trauma survivors within the Catholic tradition. Sr. Mary Stephen shares how her vocation within a vocation led her to integrate somatic healing with Catholic spirituality, creating spaces where wounded hearts can safely encounter healing from the inside out. We discuss how trauma is stored in the body, why traditional spiritual practices sometimes fall short for trauma survivors, and how somatic pilgrimages can help restore trust, presence, and peace.  If you’ve ever felt disconnected from your body, your faith, or yourself after painful experiences within religious spaces, this episode invites you to consider a path of restoration rooted in compassion, embodiment, and grace. • S3E9 Taking Sides: How Social Exclusion Hurts the Body of Christ 03.03.2026 22мин
*Content Warning* This episode contains content not suitable for minors. Please listen with discretion.  Friends,  In Episode 8, Catholic Therapist and mom, Lisa Leopold, and I discussed her experiences as a postulant in a religious community, and how the misinterpretation of the vow of obedience caused her and other sisters in the convent to experience spiritual abuse. In this episode, Lisa brings up another issue that is often missed when parents are faced with the aftermath of sexual abuse by a person in a position of authority. She reveals how taking sides can create an intolerable situation for families navigating healing. Lisa also speaks to the encouraging efforts being made by newer communities and reform-minded leaders who are working toward greater transparency and accountability in religious life. This episode is not about discouraging vocations. It is about ensuring that vocations flourish in environments that protect human dignity and authentic freedom. If you are discerning religious life, or know someone who is,  this conversation offers important perspectives. • S3E8: When Authority Wounds: Obedience in Religious Life 24.02.2026 30мин
Content Warning: *This content is not appropriate for minors, so please use a headset or listen in their absence. This episode discusses experiences of spiritual abuse within the church. While we approach this conversation with respect for the Church and for religious vocations, some of the themes may be difficult for listeners who have experienced spiritual trauma. Please listen at your own pace and care for your heart as needed.* Friends,  What happens when the vow of obedience that is meant to free the heart for Christ becomes a mechanism of control? In this episode of Forgiveness Is for YOU, I speak with Lisa Leopold about her experience as a postulant in a Catholic religious order and the spiritual abuse she encountered during formation. Together we explore how authority in religious life can become distorted, how the misuse of obedience can cause emotional and spiritual trauma, and what healing looks like on the other side. Spiritual abuse in the Church is often difficult to name, especially when it is cloaked in piety or justified as “God’s will.”  Now a wife, mother, and licensed therapist, Lisa accompanies former religious and others who are healing from spiritual abuse. Her work sheds light on both the wounds and the hope for reform and transparency within religious communities. • S3E7: Hurting and Healing in the Church: Shining a Light on Spiritual Abuse 17.02.2026 12мин
Friends,  In this opening episode of a new series, I begin a much-needed conversation about spiritual abuse: what it is, how it manifests, and why so many suffer in silence within church communities. Drawing from Pope Francis’ definition and addressing the dangers of clericalism, I explore how manipulation of conscience, misuse of authority, and distorted interpretations of Scripture can wound the faithful. I give a preview of upcoming episodes and use exhortations from the books of James and 1 Peter to encourage the Body of Christ to love another. This series is not about tearing down the Church, but about calling it higher so that true healing, accountability, and renewal can begin.
