Comedian Adam Blank hosts this retro gaming podcast where he and a guest each week pick a video game from their childhood and reminisce about it. The conversations are casual and nostalgic, covering both beloved and frustrating gaming memories. It's not a history lesson but like overhearing friends chat on the playground. New episodes drop every Wednesday.

This game isn't "retro". But it's almost 10 years old, the new season of South Park is right around the corner, and quite frankly, it's an awesome game. This week we're talking South Park: The Fractured But Whole. This one's a sequel to (the also phenomenal) Stick of Truth. Instead of classic turn-based RPG combat, it's a tactical game. Instead of Lord of the Rings, the kids are playing superheroes. Both games are hilarious and like playing a season of the show. If you're a South Park fan, these are 100% must-plays.The Human Kite to my Professor Chaos, my buddy Andre, is my guest this week. We had a great time breaking down all the superhero alter egos and laughing at the easter eggs in this one. A lot of spoilers, but if you haven't played these, I hope this episode convinces you to get off your wallet. You get to fight red wine drunk Randy for fuck sakes. And before we head on down to South Park, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks how I write my podcast notes, we talk about Star Wars Zero Company, and is it cheating to use a walkthrough??Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This week we're talking the final game in the Super Mario Land trilogy on Game Boy, Wario Land. It has almost nothing to do with Mario or Super Mario Land, but that's ok. It's still pretty sweet. And it's our first chance to play as Wario!! My buddy and Game Boy guru Patrick joins me this week to talking stealing from pirates and eating garlic. And before we start ramming into things, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks if I'm going to start reviewing more DLC on the show after the Bioshock episode last week. What are some good coop games for couples to play together? Unlike the underwater setting of the first 2 games, Bioshock Infinite takes the skies. You play as Booker DeWitt and try to save the mysterious Elizabeth from a crazy old man, a bunch of crazy younger people, and a giant robot bird. If it sounds weird, you just haven't played enough Bioshock. And before we start tearing this up (see what I did there?), I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week we talk about what could possibly incentivize people to buy a PlayStation 7 down the road? What do we think about the Simpsons: Hit & Run rumours?? And should PlayStation offer physical game collectors free upgrades to digital copies, like Xbox is seemingly planning to do??Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! And this one introduces the legend him(her?)self: Beat the bird!!The Dr. Light to my Dr. Wily, Dan from Dissect That Film returns to this week to talk Mega Manning. We both agree that this might not be the strongest entry in the series, but it doesn't mean we don't love it. Dan's fav robot master is in this one, Beat's hanging around, and we get what might be the best story in NES Mega Man history. And before we investigate Proto Man, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks me if I think most gaming could end up on mobile devices via cloud streaming at some point? What are some of the top games laying around in my backlog? And if I could develop a video game, what would I make??Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! I've always considered this the biggest gap in my SNES resume, and now that I've rolled credits, you can consider said gap filled. If you haven't played it, Actraiser is 50% action platformer, 50% city-builder. You play as a God(ish) person, vanquishing monsters and rebuilding civilizations. This game often pops up on greatest SNES game of all-time lists and while I think it's a little archaic, for an early SNES title it's shockingly good.Captain N of the Retrotopia podcast joins me this week to talk city building and monster slaying, but unlike our last episode talking about this stuff (Dark Cloud, episode 251), Angry Adam doesn't show up this time around. And before we rebuild civilization, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks I think subscription services are still the future of gaming. Will the PS6 and next Xbox cling on to the previous generation like the PS5/Series X did? And will I ever play Crimson Desert??Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! I played it a little back when the Wii launched but never got through that AWFUL opening segment. This time I made it all the way to the end, and once you get past said AWFUL opening segment, it's actually a pretty solid game. Midna is an awesome sidekick, the graphics are pretty good, it has great dungeons, and you can turn into a wolf for Navi sake! For a game this big, I called in TWO guests to help me break it down. The 16-bit generation already has F-Zero AND Super Mario Kart for Bowser's sake! But it turns out this is better than F-Zero. It might even be better than Super Mario Kart. It's RC Pro-Am on 16-bit steroids, challenging as fuck, plays awesome, and has quite possibly the best soundtrack of the SNES/Genesis era. I did NOT expect to fall this in love, holy hell!My buddy Chris the Sega Kid is here to talk both version of RnR Racing this week. Over 30 years later, I FINALLY sat down and played the second entry from the Sega Genesis, and experienced one of those things I love experiencing so much when I host this stupid show - I discovered a new favourite game. I'm sure the 3DO game as probably better but the 3DO sucks. Long live the Genesis and it's motorcycle racing, cop clubbing, chain swinging magnificence that is Road Rash II. Admittedly, I think this is my least favourite game of the trio, but that doesn't make it bad by any stretch. I think the design lends itself pretty well to a handheld game, but it does so at the expense of the exploration of the first and the creativity of the third. Still better than Mario Is Missing, anyway. See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

But Adventure Island III was a huge part of my childhood. So this week I'm reminiscing about the entire NES trilogy. If you haven't played these one, you play as a chubby caveman in a ball cap (I can relate) trying to save a girl. You platform, throw axes, skateboard, ride dinosaurs, and eat too much. Honestly? Better graphics, more Pokemon, quality of life improvements, deeper mechanics, they're phenomenal games. Are they good enough to break my nostalgic ties to the OGs? Have a listen and find out. You play as a boy and his dog, travelling through weird worlds and trying to find your way back home. The concept of the game is fantastic, and it does a lot of stuff well, but I don't know if it really does anything great. And SNES RPGs have a lot of great in them.Captain N of the Retrotopia podcast joins me this week to break down the world of Evermore, and we spent over an hour diving into the seedy (secret) underbelly of the world of Evermore. And before we get save our dog, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks if gaming has become a luxury hobby that just isn't accessible to everyone.
