  • Rachel Moore on Why Your Experience Has to Become the Differentiator 11.09.2026 49мин
Rachel Moore has worked in marketing for 18 years, which means she’s seen Facebook pages, organic social, paid media, outsourcing, startups and now AI all come through. The more interesting part of Rachel’s story is how she has continued adapting as the work itself has changed. She has worked in corporate roles, built businesses, moved into fractional work and now hosts and produces B2B podcasts for companies that need more than someone simply handling production behind the scenes. Her response to cheaper outsourcing and AI hasn’t been to compete on price or output alone. It has been to work out what she can offer that is much harder to replace. They also discuss:Competing with lower-cost outsourcing without racing to the bottomHow experience and judgement affect the way marketers use AIWhy human marketers may become more valuable as AI produces more contentRachel’s move from corporate marketing into fractional workFinding the part of your service that can’t easily be commoditisedRachel also shares lessons from her earlier attempts at building a business and how they shaped the way she works today. No pitching, no gatekeeping. Kate Engler has spent 30 years in PR and media, and these days she teaches business owners how to get media coverage without relying on a PR agency.I went into this conversation knowing very little about PR, so I wanted to understand what journalists actually look for and why some businesses manage to get coverage while others struggle. We get into:• How business owners can find media angles they may already be sitting on• Why you should never pitch a journalist the same way you pitch a customer• How to know whether your business is actually ready for media attention• Real examples of business owners turning media appearances into exposure, leads and revenueAnd much much more...Kate also shares why getting media coverage isn’t necessarily about talking directly about your business. • John Suarez on How Businesses Should Actually Use AI Without Losing Human Judgement 08.09.2026 30мин
AI can produce a polished, plausible answer to a problem your business should never have been solving. John Suarez argues that this is where cognitive offloading becomes dangerous: not when AI helps with the work, but when people let it decide what the real problem is.Jeremy Yang speaks with John Suarez, Senior Director, Client Operations at SmartBug Media and co-author of The Marketer’s Manual on Generative AI. John has worked with AI since 2018 and now helps teams use it across marketing, HubSpot and revenue operations. They discuss where human expertise still matters, why AI’s probabilistic nature creates a ceiling for high-stakes work, and how businesses can introduce AI without handing over judgement or accountability. They also discuss:Why AI adoption should begin with education and one small pilotThe security risks businesses may be underestimatingWhy AI tools keep trying to continue the conversationHow to hire people who can identify the right problemWhy AI literacy may soon become non-negotiable at workWhat happens when junior employees no longer get enough practical repsThis episode is for SME owners and managers who want to use AI seriously without confusing faster output with better decisions.Learn more about John SuarezLinkedIn ➡️ https://www.linkedin.com/in/johnjsuarez/SmartBug Media articles ➡️ https://www.smartbugmedia.com/blog/author/john-suarezThe Marketer’s Manual on Generative AI ➡️ https://www.amazon.com/Marketers-Manual-Generative-AI-Innovate-ebook/dp/B0DS99959QLearn more about Jeremy Yang on LinkedIn ➡️ https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeremy-yang/Listen on your preferred podcast app ➡️ https://pod.link/aHR0cHM6Ly9hcGkucml2ZXJzaWRlLmNvbS9ob3N0aW5nL2RmaGQ4QlltLnJzcwConnect with Digital GoliathInstagram ➡️ https://www.instagram.com/digital_goliath_marketing/Website ➡️ https://digitalgoliath.com.au/Learn more about Digital GoliathAbout Us ➡️ https://digitalgoliath.com.au/about-page/Our Services ➡️ https://digitalgoliath.com.au/marketing-ads-services/Looking for more practical ideas to help you run and grow your business?Explore Digital Goliath’s latest articles and how-to guides for SME owners.Expert Perspectives ➡️ https://digitalgoliath.com.au/expert-perspectives/How-To Guides ➡️ https://digitalgoliath.com.au/how-to-guides/

  • Keith Lauver on Escaping AI-Generated Mediocrity 02.09.2026 31мин
AI has made it easier for almost anyone to produce acceptable marketing. But when every business uses the same tools in the same way, acceptable quickly becomes forgettable.Jeremy Yang speaks with Keith Lauver, Founder and CEO of Ellavator AI, about what Keith calls the “Ministry of Mediocrity”: the pull towards safe, average marketing created by general AI tools.Keith explains why businesses risk losing their voice and point of distinction when they use AI purely to produce more content. • Solveig Petch on What Founders Misunderstand About Branding 28.08.2026 35мин
Many business owners approach branding expecting to hand everything over and receive a finished brand in return. But a branding expert cannot decide what your business stands for without your involvement.Jeremy Yang speaks with Solveig Petch, also known as Petchy, a strategic brandsmith with more than 20 years of experience working at the intersection of business, brand strategy and design.Solveig explains why branding goes far beyond choosing a logo, colour palette or font. The real work involves understanding where the business is going, what it wants to be known for and how that thinking should influence every customer touchpoint. They also discuss:How to recognise when your business has outgrown its existing brandWhy founders cannot completely outsource the thinking behind their brandWhich businesses benefit most from professional branding workHow smaller businesses can build a useful foundation before hiring a specialistWhat business legacy can look like without building a huge companyWhy experienced creatives still matter in an era of AI-generated designThis episode is for SME owners whose business has grown but whose website, messaging or visual identity no longer feels representative of where the company is today.Learn more about Solveig PetchWebsite ➡️ https://petchy.co/LinkedIn ➡️ https://www.linkedin.com/in/petchy/Instagram ➡️ https://www.instagram.com/petchy.co/Learn more about Jeremy Yang on LinkedIn ➡️ https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeremy-yang/Listen on your preferred podcast app ➡️ https://pod.link/aHR0cHM6Ly9hcGkucml2ZXJzaWRlLmNvbS9ob3N0aW5nL2RmaGQ4QlltLnJzcwConnect with Digital GoliathInstagram ➡️ https://www.instagram.com/digital_goliath_marketing/Website ➡️ https://digitalgoliath.com.au/Learn more about Digital GoliathAbout Us ➡️ https://digitalgoliath.com.au/about-page/Our Services ➡️ https://digitalgoliath.com.au/marketing-ads-services/Looking for more practical ideas to help you run and grow your business?Explore Digital Goliath’s latest articles and how-to guides for SME owners.Expert Perspectives ➡️ https://digitalgoliath.com.au/expert-perspectives/How-To Guides ➡️ https://digitalgoliath.com.au/how-to-guides/
  • Dan Charles on Building an Event Marketing Pipeline That Runs Year-Round 25.08.2026 30мин
Being busy can hide a future sales problem. Many event businesses stop marketing when their teams are fully occupied with delivery. When the busy period ends, they discover that the pipeline has dried up and they need to start again from zero.Jeremy Yang speaks with Dan Charles, founder of Codarity, a growth partner built specifically for B2B event service businesses. Before moving into marketing, Dan spent nearly a decade in the events industry and scaled productions from small local gatherings to shows with more than 3,000 attendees. He later worked inside a large agency before founding Codarity and eventually narrowing its focus to the events industry.Dan explains why relying on referrals creates unpredictable revenue, how long buying cycles affect event businesses and why running more ads will not necessarily fix a growth plateau. They also discuss:Why serving every type of client made Codarity harder to scaleThe four pillars of Dan’s Evergreen Event Profit SystemHow automation keeps the pipeline moving during busy seasonsWhy highly specific LinkedIn content can generate leads with only 150 impressionsLosing around 60% of Codarity’s clients during COVIDThe hidden opportunities businesses miss when they depend on word of mouthWhy short marketing trials lead to repeated restartsThis episode is useful for event businesses, agency owners and other service companies that experience uneven demand or rely heavily on referrals.Learn more about Dan CharlesLinkedIn ➡️ https://uk.linkedin.com/in/dancharlesCodarity ➡️ https://codarity.com/Learn more about Jeremy Yang on LinkedIn ➡️ https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeremy-yang/Listen on your preferred podcast app ➡️ https://pod.link/aHR0cHM6Ly9hcGkucml2ZXJzaWRlLmNvbS9ob3N0aW5nL2RmaGQ4QlltLnJzcwConnect with Digital GoliathInstagram ➡️ https://www.instagram.com/digital_goliath_marketing/Website ➡️ https://digitalgoliath.com.au/Learn more about Digital GoliathAbout Us ➡️ https://digitalgoliath.com.au/about-page/Our Services ➡️ https://digitalgoliath.com.au/marketing-ads-services/Looking for more practical ideas to help you run and grow your business?Explore Digital Goliath’s latest articles and how-to guides for SME owners.Expert Perspectives ➡️ https://digitalgoliath.com.au/expert-perspectives/How-To Guides ➡️ https://digitalgoliath.com.au/how-to-guides/

  • Rachel Minion on Solving Key Man Risk with AI 30.07.2026 39мин
In this episode of Marketing for SMEs, Jeremy Yang sits down with Rachel Minion, founder of Rockstarr and Moon, to talk about key man risk, and what happens when your business depends on one person who can't be replaced.Rachel walks through five hires that failed before she found what worked, including an offshore hire who couldn't push the business forward, a US-based writer who quietly started using ChatGPT to cut corners, and a VP of operations who took over client calls the same week Rachel was recovering from a dog attack, costing her three of her biggest clients within a month. They also cover:- Why "order takers" are everywhere in agency hiring and why clients don't pay premium for them- How Rachel automated 90% of her most critical role in just 21 days using Claude Cowork- Why she built Rockstarr AI, a self-contained marketing department in a box, instead of hiring again- What Rockstarr AI replaces, from sales ops admin to case studies, blogs and landing page copy- Why paid ads is the one area she says AI still can't replace a skilled human- How positioning, not promises of ROAS, is what actually differentiates a business in a competitive nicheRachel also shares her background running marketing for a division of Ticketmaster through the pandemic, and how watching 80% of her team get furloughed overnight pushed her to go full-time on the agency she'd been running as a side hustle since the 2008 recession.Give it a listen if you're a small business owner, agency founder or solo operator who's ever worried what happens if your right-hand person walks out the door.Learn more about Rachel Minion and Rockstarr and Moon, check out:LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/rachelminion/Website https://rachelminion.com/Rockstarr and Moon https://rockstarrandmoon.com/Learn more about Jeremy Yang on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeremy-yang/Listen to our podcast, Marketing for SMEs https://pod.link/aHR0cHM6Ly9hcGkucml2ZXJzaWRlLmNvbS9ob3N0aW5nL2RmaGQ4QlltLnJzcwConnect with Digital GoliathInstagram https://www.instagram.com/digital_goliath_marketing/Website https://digitalgoliath.com.au/Learn More about Digital GoliathAbout Us https://digitalgoliath.com.au/about-page/Our Services https://digitalgoliath.com.au/marketing-ads-services/ResourcesExpert Perspectives https://digitalgoliath.com.au/expert-perspectives/Results https://digitalgoliath.com.au/results/

  • SegMetrics Founder Keith Perhac Explains the Future of Marketing Measurement 23.07.2026 43мин
In this episode of Marketing for SMEs, Jeremy Yang sits down with Keith Perhac, founder of SegMetrics, to unpack what marketing tracking looks like in 2026 and where AI fits into it.Keith explains why UTMs are still one of the most reliable tracking methods available, but also where they fall short across zero-click content, offline sales, multiple devices and longer customer journeys. They also cover:• Why ad agencies should look beyond leads and trials to actual customers, revenue and lifetime value• How lifetime attribution can connect an anonymous visitor to a future sale• What privacy changes and shorter platform attribution windows have made harder to measure• How businesses can link offline activity back to their marketing• Why AI is better at interpreting structured reports than analysing raw data• How SegMetrics is using MCP to let marketers question their data in natural language• Why vibe-coded tracking tools can appear useful at first, but become difficult to maintain• How product and customer data can reveal the next offer someone is most likely to buyKeith also shares how his background in conversion rate optimisation led to SegMetrics, after working with businesses and marketers including Ramit Sethi, Eben Pagan and Jim Kwik. The conversation is a practical look at what tracking can realistically tell you, what it still cannot see, and why better measurement requires more than trusting the numbers inside Google or Meta.Give it a watch if you run ads, manage funnels or want a clearer view of which marketing activity is actually creating valuable customers.Learn more about Keith Perhac and SegMetrics, check out:LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/keithperhacWebsite https://segmetrics.io/Learn more about Jeremy Yang on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeremy-yang/Listen to our podcast, Marketing for SMEs https://pod.link/aHR0cHM6Ly9hcGkucml2ZXJzaWRlLmNvbS9ob3N0aW5nL2RmaGQ4QlltLnJzcwConnect with Digital GoliathInstagram https://www.instagram.com/digital_goliath_marketing/Website https://digitalgoliath.com.au/Learn More about Digital GoliathAbout Us https://digitalgoliath.com.au/about-page/Our Services https://digitalgoliath.com.au/marketing-ads-services/ResourcesExpert Perspectives https://digitalgoliath.com.au/expert-perspectives/Results https://digitalgoliath.com.au/results/
  • Ely Delaney on 30 Years of Follow-Up Systems, Ghostwriting, and What AI Still Gets Wrong 21.07.2026 32мин
Ely Delaney has spent 30 years in marketing, starting with hand-coding websites in 1995, and most of that time has gone into one problem: how to follow up with people without feeling spammy. On this episode he joins Jeremy Yang to walk through the system that took his close rate from 10% to 30%, long before QR codes or mobile-friendly sites existed, and how it eventually became the foundation of his email ghostwriting business. They also get into how to find the right rooms to network in, why Ely interviews every ghostwriting client for their actual tone instead of guessing at it, and the "sufficiency bias" trap, where AI content feels amazing purely because it's better than what a business owner could write alone, and why that's not the same as good.Learn more about Ely Delaney and his work on follow-up systems and email ghostwriting, check out:Website https://connectwithely.com/LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/elydelaney/Book, The Follow-Up Code https://www.amazon.com/Follow-Up-Code-Virtues-Building/dp/B0GWJB95PGFree course https://buildyourfollowupmachine.com/Facebook group, Smart Follow Up https://www.facebook.com/groups/smartfollowupWork with his team http://followuprockstar.com/call/Learn more about Jeremy Yang on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeremy-yang/Listen to our podcast, Marketing for SMEs https://pod.link/aHR0cHM6Ly9hcGkucml2ZXJzaWRlLmNvbS9ob3N0aW5nL2RmaGQ4QlltLnJzcwConnect with Digital GoliathInstagram https://www.instagram.com/digital_goliath_marketing/Website https://digitalgoliath.com.au/Learn More about Digital GoliathAbout Us https://digitalgoliath.com.au/about-page/Our Services https://digitalgoliath.com.au/marketing-ads-services/ResourcesExpert Perspectives https://digitalgoliath.com.au/expert-perspectives/Results https://digitalgoliath.com.au/results/
