In 2012, British photojournalist John Cantlie was kidnapped in Syria by Islamic State. While other hostages were released or killed, he remained in captivity and later appeared in a series of ISIS propaganda videos. He has not been seen since. In this series, The Times’ war correspondent Anthony Loyd investigates Cantlie’s life and what happened to him.
