  Harley-Davidson has added two very different, but distinctly old-school, motorcycles to its 2026 lineup with the new Deadwood and the return of the legendary Super Glide. Both bikes lean heavily into Harley-Davidson history while combining that styling with the modern Softail platform, Milwaukee-Eight power, selectable ride modes, and current rider-safety technology. The Deadwood is an entirely new name inspired by the stripped-down motorcycles and independent riders associated with the post-World War II era and the Black Hills, while the Super Glide brings back one of the most recognizable names in Harley history. In this episode of the Law Abiding Biker™ Podcast, we break down both motorcycles, what makes them unique, and where they fit in Harley-Davidson's evolving cruiser lineup. Underneath the vintage-inspired styling is a Milwaukee-Eight 117 Classic engine, five-gallon fuel tank, selectable ride modes, and Harley-Davidson Rider Safety Enhancements. Harley says the inspiration goes back to riders who stripped unnecessary parts from their motorcycles after World War II, while the Deadwood name and marketing tie the motorcycle directly to Sturgis and the Black Hills. Fifty-five years after the original 1971 FX Super Glide helped establish the factory-custom concept, Harley has revived the name with a motorcycle designed to immediately remind riders of Willie G. Davidson's original creation. White Onyx Pearl paint, stretched vintage FX tank graphics with red-and-blue striping, extensive chrome, tubeless laced wheels, chrome mini-ape handlebars, mid controls, and a five-gallon teardrop tank deliver the retro look. Power comes from the Milwaukee-Eight 117 Classic, rated by Harley at 98 horsepower and 120 lb-ft of torque in the U.S. specification. Modern touches include selectable ride modes, rider safety enhancements, an adjustable front brake lever, and traditional-looking tank-mounted instrumentation backed by a multifunction LCD display. What really makes the Super Glide stand apart is its exclusivity. Harley-Davidson is producing just 2,500 individually serialized 2026 Super Glide motorcycles worldwide, with the model introduced as a Special Edition celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. With a U.S. starting MSRP of $15,999, it is also positioned below the Deadwood despite its limited-production status. Together, these two motorcycles show Harley-Davidson taking a decidedly heritage-driven approach: the Deadwood creates a new model around the stripped-down attitude of post-war custom motorcycles and the Black Hills, while the Super Glide resurrects a name and styling cues that helped define factory customization more than half a century ago.   In this episode, I'm joined by Lurch and we talk about the 2026 Indian Roadmaster that was just added to the Law Abiding Biker stable.  This isn't my first time in the saddle of an Indian. First up was pulling the reflectors — step one on basically every bike that rolls into my shop.   This is episode 2 of 2.  We take a look back at Ryan's 30 year law enforcement career.  Ryan retired from the Yakima Police Department last July and is now working full time at Law Abiding Biker.  Ryan's path into law enforcement didn't start with a trooper's badge. He began in 1994 as a Reserve Sheriff's Deputy for Yakima County. In 1995 he moved to the Yakima County Department of Security, working courthouse law enforcement duties. On December 11, 1995, he was hired by the Washington State Patrol, graduated the WSP Academy, and was commissioned as a Trooper in July 1996. At the Washington State Patrol Ryan performed normal trooper duties, but also was a Serious Highway Crime Apprehension Team (SHCAT) member, K9 handler, and K9 instuctor. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE In April of 2006 Ryan lateral transferred to the Yakima Police Department where he spent the majority of his law enforcement career.  In addition to routine patrol officer duties Ryan was a Police Training Officer (PTO), Narcotics K9 handler, Pro Act Team undercover officer, Gang Team member, Safe Streets Task Force Detective, Motors officer, and Motors Instructor. He was recognized by the DEA (2004) for contributions to drug law enforcement, by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Washington (2005) for the large-scale "Operation No Mas" investigation, and by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (2007) for "Operation Intolerance." Over the course of his career, he also authored and executed numerous search warrants. Ryan retired from law enforcement on July 31, 2025, after thirty years of service across multipleWashington agencies. He's now focused full-time on Law Abiding Biker, the motorcycle media branded store he built alongside his law enforcement career.   In this episode, we talk about the 2026 Harley-Davidson Limiteds. Harley clearly put a lot of thought into rider and passenger comfort on the 2026 Limited. The redesigned heated seat is one of the first things you notice. It now comes standard with heating for both rider and passenger, and Harley wisely kept physical buttons on the bike for adjusting heat levels instead of burying those controls in menus. That matters in the real world. When it's cold outside, nobody wants to scroll through screens just to warm up. The heated grips are also standard and work very well. Like the seat, they heat up quickly and get legitimately warm on higher settings. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE The taller windshield worked great for me at 5'8″, allowing me to look right over the top while still getting solid wind protection. Combined with the fairing vent, it did a good job reducing head buffeting. You also get lower fairings with storage and vents, plus fork-mounted air vents that can be adjusted while riding. I really appreciated that Harley made all of these easy to operate by feel without taking your eyes off the road. And yes—having highway pegs standard on a serious touring motorcycle is exactly the kind of thing riders want to see. It looks better, flows better with the bike, and has a slightly taller design without looking boxy or awkward. Most importantly, it can now fit two helmets inside, which is a huge win for real-world touring and passenger use. Harley didn't just make the trunk bigger for the sake of it. They clearly spent time reshaping it so it would remain sleek while becoming more functional. That said, the integrated brake and turn signal lighting inside the trunk does take up a bit of space, so compared to my detachable trunk setup there is slightly less usable room in certain areas. Riders must balance efficient routing, smart time management, and personal stamina to successfully complete the challenge within the rules.
