Pygmalion is a 1913 play by George Bernard Shaw, based on the Greek myth. It follows Professor Henry Higgins, a phonetics expert, who bets he can transform Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle into a refined lady by teaching her upper-class speech and manners. As Eliza learns, she grows close to Higgins but ultimately rejects his domineering nature, choosing to marry the poor gentleman Freddy Eynsford-Hill. The play later inspired the musical and film 'My Fair Lady'.
