Bonus Episode 31.03.2026 57λAs you know I began a second podcast a few months ago so each of my shows can have a focused perspective. This podcast, It’s not normal it’s toxic is an educational resource for you to better understand the toxic relationships in your life through the experiences I had while in mine. Fak’n Tired my other podcast was also inspired by events in my life. Managing the ups and downs, managing my emotions, as well as managing the other relationships in my life did not go as I thought it would. There was so much shrapnel, so many residual effects from the toxic relationship I had been in that I was for a time completely unaware of. Avoiding and ignoring the need for healing became so overwhelming for me I wanted to disappear. So as I write the episodes for Fak’n Tired I often wonder if it would have been different if I had known all this before it did. The bonus episodes you hear are the Fak’n Tired episodes that I believe could possibly make your journey go a little smoother than mine did. Today in part 2 of the Biology of the Battle, Dr. Heidi explores the impact of toxic relationships on the nervous system and how survival behaviors can persist long after leaving such environments. She introduces the Survival Mode Assessment (SMA) to help individuals identify their post-trauma behaviors and discusses the importance of understanding the nervous system's role in trauma recovery. The conversation delves into the various data collectors within the nervous system, including nociception and neuroception, and emphasizes the need for recalibration to achieve inner peace and emotional stability.Whether you are presently in a toxic relationship or you are trying to rebuild after a toxic relationship it can feel impossible to take the steps you desire. Through an upsetting but non emergency life event, a flood in my basement, I reflect on the lessons I have learned about loss, change, and personal empowerment. The self growth is becoming so much more evident, even in the little things. The importance of making my own decisions, finding strength in adversity, & seeing the reason bad stuff sometimes happens, has given me a confident feeling of both self acceptance & inner peace.

#245-Why is it so difficult to know if they are toxic? 30.03.2025 24λTake the Toxicity Profile Analysishttps://coachingwithdrheidi.base44.app/In episode #243 I reminded you that YOU are the one that decides who in your life is healthy for your wellbeing and who may not be so healthy for you. In this episode I take it one more step, let's explore why it is confusing and why your mind becomes clouded when looking at your relationships. Toxic relationships are complex and because of that you seek validation as you begin recognizing unhealthy behaviors. Part of the reason you are seeking such validation is because the traits of toxic personalities become "normal" to you as you spend each day within the cycle. Let's jsut take one of the many traits that I teach today and expand on it a bit. Self-centeredness is a trait of many toxic personalities, and the impact that can have on those around them can lead to low self-worth and compromised emotional health. I encourages you to reflect on your behavior & patterns too as they may be adaptive to avoid conflict or confrontation within the relationship you are seeking validation for.
