  • Local Selection 307: mkbest 17.06.2026 1h
For the 307th edition of the series, mkbest delivers a deep and lush selection of rolling house, carefully shaped into a slow-burning, immersive journey. Belfast’s mkbest is an artist deeply embedded in the city’s club culture, an instinctive student of deeper, more refined strains of house music. Her sound is rooted in a stripped-back, patient aesthetic that prioritises atmosphere, progression, and emotional connection on the dancefloor above all else. Drawing influence from artists such as Malin Genie and Etzu Mahkayah, alongside foundational figures like Eddie Richards and Kerri Chandler, her selections bridge contemporary underground sensibilities with the classic lineage of house music. She moves fluidly between these worlds, navigating them with a subtle, deliberate touch. This mix feels like a complete expression of her approach. Sound, pacing, and intent aligned. Each track is chosen with a clear rationale, reflecting a selector’s mindset that resists excess or distraction. Gradually, she turns the dial, moving through hazy, chord-led atmospheres and ambient-leaning textures into more functional, Chicago-adjacent rhythms. There’s nothing overly attention-seeking here; instead, it’s cool, calm, and assured, much like the DJ at the controls. It sits in that sweet spot between the after-hours and the early morning, where the dancefloor breathes. mkbest

  • Local Selection 306: Stephen Keddy 11.06.2026 1h 17min
This week’s entry to the Local Selection is a long-overdue mix from Stephen Keddy, a staunch supporter of Irish electronic music. Keddy has consistently championed Irish producers, often putting together mixes made entirely of Irish material, and this set is another strong example of that commitment. A veteran of the Irish club scene, Keddy began DJing in the late 1990s, holding residencies at venues such as the legendary Funnel Club and what is now Centrepoint. Alongside his club work, he has also contributed to short film soundtracks, blending experimental electronic textures with more dancefloor-focused production. In the mid-2000s, he hosted Squiggles MindFunk Inc from Michigan, focusing on early dubstep and forward-thinking bass music. After a period away from music, he returned during lockdown with live streams and the weekly K0rOna Sessions on Wicked 107.2, showcasing new dancefloor releases with a strong emphasis on Irish artists. He now runs the bi-monthly Squiggles MindFunk Experiments, continuing his commitment to Irish electronic music while spanning IDM, UKG, breakbeat, techno, electro, acid, house, drum & bass, and industrial, often weaving in his own recently produced material. Keddy remains a dedicated advocate for Irish music, and his Bandcamp profile, familiar to many producers across the country, reflects his reputation for early and consistent support. This mix, made entirely of local artists, feels like one of the most long-overdue showcases from any Irish DJ. Here, Keddy weaves together a fluid but unpredictable blend of genres, soundscapes, tempos, moods, and textures, creating an all-out celebration of Irish electronic music. Moving effortlessly from house to breaks, techno to psytrance and beyond, it’s a combination that arguably shouldn’t work on paper, but in practice, it absolutely does. It’s a bold, boundaryless selection that highlights both the depth and diversity of the Irish scene, and Keddy’s ear for stitching it all into a coherent journey. Hats off to an unsung hero. • Local Selection 305: CIRCUITBREAKER 04.06.2026 1h 6min
CIRCUITBREAKER soundtracks the 305th with a breakneck one-hour journey through wobbly basslines, blistering amen breaks, and thundering UK hardcore weapons. Dublin’s CIRCUITBREAKER is co-founder and creative force behind Irish underground soundsystem collective ‘Injector Sound’, and a DJ who arrived on the Dublin club and rave scene with an unapologetically rave-soaked sound. Her career thus far spans highlights such as holding it down at Fuinneamh festival two years running, playing a stacked list of raves, and sharing bills with the likes of Samurai Breaks and Eugene McCauley. A roster of past appearances that speaks to her bold and brash commitment to the “fun” side of club culture. Her approach leans into the chaotic side of the UK sound, through happy hardcore-adjacent cuts, speed garage, donk, and more, in her own words, “sounds that don’t take themselves too seriously.” It’s a wonky ride through free party sounds, tracks that sit perfectly in forest parties and warehouse raves, a homage to UK free party culture. • Four Four Premiere: Rebekah - Biggest Baddest Mother [Reckless Records] 29.05.2026 3min
This May 29th, Rebekah returns with ‘Industrial Mind’, a new album that marks a turning point in her artistic identity and reaffirms the sound that shaped her to be released on RECKLESS Records. After several years spent immersed in the harder, faster corners of club culture, she reached a moment of clarity. “These influences opened me up to taking more risks with my own palette,” she says. “Industrial Mind feels like a homecoming of sorts. A remembering of who I am and finding my voice once more.” Her second album is about evolution and reinvention, and what has changed both for her musically and personally since the pandemic, whilst still industrial and techno oriented, a sound that runs through her veins, and she can never escape, with good reason. • Four Four Premiere: Blaine Mason - Dust Devil [BKR002] 29.05.2026 5min
"Our second release marks a bold step forward, welcoming Nashville-based artist Blaine Mason to the fold, joined by remixers FORUM and Freeman 713. This EP dives deep into trippy, psychedelic, and hypnotic sound design, where transgressive textures blur the line between atmosphere and intensity. Peak time and driving propulsion meet mind-bending soundscapes, while keeping the focus firmly on the dance floor. Warped synths, relentless grooves, chugging percussion and unconventional sonic storytelling are the hallmarks of a Blaine Mason release, and this is no different." • Local Selection 304: Jenn Hession 27.05.2026 1h
This week’s Local Selection comes from Irish-Filipino DJ and promoter Jenn Hession, whose blistering, bass-heavy sound moves fluidly through hardcore, dubstep, jungle and beyond. Since launching her DJ career at the close of 2019, Jenn has steadily carved out a distinct place within Dublin’s underground circuit. Alongside her work as a DJ, she founded Instinct Society, originally a college collective that became a gateway to the wider Irish electronic music community and beyond. Emerging through a mix of live gigs and DIY rave spaces in late 2020, Jenn first became known for sets rooted in harder, high-energy sounds, before gradually expanding her musical scope. Her trajectory through the local scene has since seen her play some of Dublin’s key venues, including Here & Now, Cellar, Wigwam and The Racket Space, among others. Through collaborations and lineups shared with a broad range of artists, Jenn’s approach has evolved into one that embraces fluidity across genres, driven by a continual curiosity for new sounds and styles. Her contribution to the Local Selection Mix is an ode to UK hardcore and rave-soaked jungle techno, packed with euphoric, ’90s-leaning weapons that balance intensity with moments of pure release. It’s a space where rapid, divergent mixing feels as natural as allowing tracks the room to breathe, letting long, blissful breakdowns unfold into prismatic, near-transcendent moments. Jenn manages both with ease, a hallmark of a great DJ, and this relentless journey through breakneck jungle stands as a sharp reflection of her sound and sensibility. Jenn Hession

  • Local Selection 302: Elliott Craig 06.05.2026 1h 2min
For the 302nd Local Selection Mix, we welcome back a long-standing fixture of Dublin’s abrasive techno circuit. Making his return after time away from the spotlight, Elliott Craig delivers an hour of unrelenting, high-intensity industrial and hardcore techno. This mix channels the spirit of the Hangar, Reaktor, and Unpolished era, a time when hardcore, gabber, industrial, and schranz collided into a ferocious melting pot. It was a reaction against the stripped-back, polished sounds that had come to dominate techno, pushing tempos beyond 140 BPM and breaking conventions in ways that felt genuinely exciting and rebellious. Elliott Craig has always embodied that ethos. A devoted champion of the era’s raw energy, he continues to stand firm while many contemporaries have shifted toward more refined and accessible sounds. Craig remains committed to the uncompromising, brutal edge of techno and hardcore, rejecting the notion that intensity equates to gimmickry or poor taste, something often misrepresented in today’s harder techno landscape. This marks his first mix in six years, and he returns with the same defiant attitude. It’s a statement piece, an unapologetic dive into the harsher, anti-commercial side of the genre. Expect heavily distorted and compressed drums, pounding kicks, and gnarly saw-wave leads that tear through the speakers. It’s a full-throttle assault on the conventional idea of “classy” techno. Relentless in its progression, Craig pushes the intensity further and further, culminating in full-blown Dutch hardcore euphoria. Strap in. Elliott Craig

Laynee has been around the game for almost three decades, slowly building up her reputation as a loyal selector with old school credentials. She has graced some of Ireland’s most respected dancefloors over her journey, from Hangar and Opium to The Button Factory and The Guinness Storehouse, alongside stints across Berlin’s club circuit, with over 28 years behind the decks. Her résumé boasts support slots alongside the most formidable names across house and techno, demonstrating both her longevity and adaptability as an artist. Her appearances at MASS and Day of the Dead festivals only further cement her reputation as a seasoned DJ outside of the club and at big-scale festivals. Beyond the club, Laynee maintains a strong radio presence. She hosts Vibrations, a monthly show on Phever.ie, alongside her weekly Monday slot, Spektrum, on Biggest Disco Radio, platforms where her sound continues to evolve while staying true to its roots. • Local Selection 300: Holly Lester 22.04.2026 1h 28min
We celebrate the landmark 300th Local Selection Mix with a juggernaut contribution from Belfast-based nightlife advocate, label owner, and one of the country’s pound-for-pound finest selectors, Holly Lester. As the boss of Duality Trax and co-owner of Terrazzo, Lester has long been at the beating heart of Belfast’s club culture. In a city that faces ongoing challenges in sustaining a healthy nightlife ecosystem, she has emerged as a commanding and essential presence. Through her relentless work as an artist, alongside her activism, she has played a pivotal role in raising awareness of the struggles and adversities facing the scene. In 2021, she co-founded Free The Night with Boyd Sleator, and together they have worked tirelessly to push for a better future for Northern Ireland’s nightlife. A regular fixture at Belfast’s AVA Festival, it was there she recorded her Boiler Room set in 2018, a breakthrough moment that saw DJ Mag and The Guardian cite her as a star on the rise. It was as a DJ that she first gained widespread recognition, becoming a staple at key institutions such as Shine, Chibuku Shake Shake, and The Warehouse Project. Since then, she has taken her sound across the globe, commanding dancefloors from Europe to Australia and Indonesia, with standout appearances in cities like Berlin, Amsterdam, and Prague. Holly marks the 300th Local Selection Mix as we move into Four Four Magazine’s 10-year celebrations, an apt choice of artist to helm such a watershed moment in the series. Mix 300 captures a DJ firmly at the top of her game and delivers exactly what you’d expect from Lester: deep, chugging, poignant and proggy, with flashes of jackin’ energy and soulful undertones. It’s a carefully curated cocktail of nuanced selections from a DJ who consistently digs deeper, cutting through an era where club culture can often lean on the obvious or overly familiar. Instead, Holly meets that tendency head-on with a heady, rolling selection rooted in house music as its backbone, steering the mix with intent, patience, and precision. The result is a journey that could soundtrack a sunset at Titanic Slipways or the first light of an Australian morning rave. But right now, it belongs here, marking number 300 in style. We’ll dance to that. Holly Lester ------------------ SC: @hollylester IG: www.instagram.com/holly__lester/ Four Four Magazine

  • Local Selection 299: Ali PJ 25.03.2026 1h 5min
The 299th edition of the Four Four Local Selection is coming in hot from Dublin-based multi-instrumentalist, DJ and producer Ali PJ. This contribution is a fine showcase of the upcomers' refined taste, which incorporates bustling house-oriented basslines and uplifting, playful vocals throughout. With a relatively short period of time, Ali PJ has made a strong mark through her involvement in Dublin's electronic dance music scene. She first gained attention following a standout DJ set on RTÉ 2FM’s The Bunker Sessions late last year, and steadily built on that momentum with appearances at a range of venues including Tengu, Index, and The Workman's Club. In addition to her performances, she founded the BIMM DJ Society last year, which is an impressive accolade in itself. Further cementing her presence within Dublin’s club circuit. A personal highlight so far has been her debut at Block, where she supported IDEMI during their Irish debut. Ali's groove-driven sets blend classic house tracks with a contemporary edge, creating a sound that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly current. Guided by instinctive, intuitive track selection and a seamless sense of flow, weaving together an array of vocal-driven EDM influences, punchy basslines, and carefully crafted melodic hooks. Not to mention, this mix features one of her own unreleased tracks towards the end of the recording - so do be sure to keep an ear out!  The result is a dynamic, immersive mix that reflects her evolving sound and acts as a strong signal for a big 2026.
