They block the production of cholesterol, but they also block the production of CoQ10, which is vital for muscle and heart health. If you’re taking statins, CoQ10 can help mitigate the side effects. Ubiquinol is a fast-acting form of CoQ10 and may be the best form to take. A typical amount is 200–400 mg.Instead of immediately taking statins, ask yourself: Why do you have high cholesterol in the first place? Refined carbohydrates and sugar can contribute to cholesterol production in the body. Low bile, gallbladder problems, or gallbladder removal can also contribute to high cholesterol.DATA: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12736359/ https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9104583/ https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6486033/ https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6822644/Dr. Eric Berg, D.C. Today I want to cover the best foods for kidney disease. The top causes of kidney problems are diabetes, insulin resistance, and high-sugar, high-carb diets. Consuming a low-carb diet, like the Healthy Keto® diet, and doing intermittent fasting are two of the best things you can do to help prevent kidney disease. But, if you have stage 3A through stage 5 kidney disease, you may want to consider making some adjustments to your keto plan. If you have a kidney problem, it’s important to work with your doctor to make sure certain nutrients aren’t out of range. These nutrients include potassium, sodium, and phosphorus. Protein levels can also become too high if someone has a kidney problem. The best diet tips for kidney disease: • Consume lower amounts of high-quality protein (pasture-raised organic eggs, wild-caught fish, seafood, and grass-fed, grass-finished beef) • Consume lower amounts of sodium (2,300 mg of sodium per day) • Avoid processed foods and junk foods • Avoid high-potassium foods and consume low-potassium foods • Avoid soda • Avoid foods high in phosphorus • Take the natural form of certain vitamins (B vitamins, vitamin C, and vitamin D3) • Get plenty of omega-3 fatty acids (take cod liver oil) Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, age 58, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. These 7 drinks help improve sleep quality by preventing troublesome issues like night waking and nighttime urination. Blood sugar often decreases at night, increasing cortisol, which increases blood sugar levels. Poor sleep can also cause blood sugar issues, and frequent urination at night can contribute to this problem. Here are 7 nighttime drinks to help stabilize blood sugar levels throughout the night. Try these drinks to support healthy blood sugar levels and improve sleep. 1. Apple cider vinegar with cinnamon Add one to two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with a pinch of cinnamon to a glass of water for the perfect blood sugar-balancing drink. 2. Chamomile tea Chamomile tea lowers cortisol and stabilizes blood sugar by directly supporting the cells in the pancreas. 3. Golden milk Combine turmeric and ginger with milk to make a delicious blood sugar-balancing latte. 4. Aloe vera juice Aloe vera is known to help with digestion and ulcers and can be applied topically to wounds, but it also potently affects the cells that make insulin. 5. Berberine tea This herb is close in effectiveness to Metformin, just without the side effects! 6. Electrolyte drinks (without sugar) Potassium and magnesium are vital for healthy blood sugar levels. Magnesium can significantly decrease cortisol, while potassium can reduce blood sugar and is essential for glucose storage in the liver and the muscles. Most people are not getting enough potassium! 7. Salt in water Sodium is an important electrolyte that helps reduce blood sugar and cortisol. Add it to water or your electrolyte drinks to help increase hydration. It also supports the adrenal glands, nerves, and muscles. Did you know there is one carbohydrate that can help you lower your bad cholesterol naturally? Find out what it is! DATA: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9925120/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8330388/ https://academic.oup.com/jn/article/129/5/942/4721922 0:00 Introduction: Is high cholesterol bad? 0:35 Cholesterol explained 1:54 How to lower cholesterol naturally 4:33 Learn more about LDL cholesterol! Let’s talk about the best carbohydrate to help you lower your cholesterol. In some cases, it’s not a problem if cholesterol is a little bit higher. This can happen when you first start the keto diet because you’re mobilizing cholesterol from the fat cells. But what can you do if you need to lower bad cholesterol naturally? There is one specific food that can really help you. Your body makes cholesterol. Excess cholesterol is eliminated through the bile ducts with the help of bile salts. Bile salts have a lot of important roles in the body. Typically, carbohydrates will increase cholesterol and triglycerides. There are three types of carbohydrates: sugar, starches, and fiber. Fiber can actually help reduce your cholesterol, but it has to be the right type of fiber. We’re talking about the fiber in vegetables. Vegetables have low amounts of sugar and high amounts of fiber. They’re also rich in nutrients, phytonutrients, vitamins, and minerals. Fiber helps bind with cholesterol and modify the absorption of lipids and fats. It also increases the production of bile and eliminates bile connected to cholesterol. Fiber has zero effect on blood sugar and insulin, which will help lower your cholesterol. Feeding your microbes fiber also decreases the production of cholesterol. If you have high cholesterol, consume more vegetables to help increase the release of bile and feed the microbes. At the same time, be sure to avoid sugar and starch in your diet. Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, age 58, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. Is chicken really healthy? Learn the truth about chicken. 0:00 Introduction: Is chicken healthy? 0:18 The truth about chicken 6:40 Beef vs. chicken 7:40 Check out this video on beef! Let’s talk about chicken. Chicken is the most genetically manipulated animal protein that you can consume, and there are consequences when you alter the natural process of growing a chicken. Chickens are typically raised in a very inhumane and unhealthy environment. Many issues with the chicken you buy from the store are present because of the conditions the chicken was raised in. Store-bought chickens even have added coloring, which is used to make them look healthy and appetizing. But, the need for this coloring can be traced back to the chicken’s environment. Another big problem with chicken is that it’s very high in omega-6 fatty acids, which means it’s very inflammatory. Chickens are also fed inflammatory ingredients, like used cooking oil, that is in chicken feeds. This contributes to chicken meat being inflammatory. Chicken is also low in nutrition. When comparing beef and chicken, beef is much more nutrient-dense and contains less omega-6 fatty acids. Let me clear something up. A protein is not really protein. Here’s what I mean. Serenity Products: https://www.amazon.com/stores/page/ACC99AE8-4A45-45BF-845C-B8D7E815923D 0:00 Introduction: Protein is not protein 0:14 Protein RDAs 2:40 Foods rich in protein 2:57 Protein explained 7:46 Protein for kids 8:58 Learn more about protein! Today, I want to clear up some confusion around protein. Typically, the minimum amount of protein a person needs is 50 grams. You might think that if you consume a beef steak that’s 100 grams or 3.5 ounces, you’re getting double the amount of protein you need for the day. However, there is a difference between the weight of a steak and the amount of protein in the steak. For example, a steak that weighs 100 grams only contains 26 grams of protein. This is because steak also contains fat and water. Proteins also vary in amino acids. We don’t even really have a daily requirement for protein—we actually have a daily requirement for amino acids in the protein. The problem lies in the quality of protein or the bioavailable acids in the food you eat. While some plants have protein, animal sources are a better option for protein than plant sources. Also, know that many infant formulas and foods for toddlers are loaded with soy protein and other plant proteins that can cause problems with digestion. Foods high in protein: 1. Breast milk 2. Eggs 3. Meat 4. Chicken 5. Dairy Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, age 58, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. Surprisingly, one of the earliest signs of dementia involves the retina. There is a high correlation between problems in the retina and problems in the brain. Problems with night vision or central vision, floaters, and light sensitivity issues are the earliest signs of dementia. Some people develop amyloid-beta plaquing on the retina and may experience problems differentiating shades of grey and other colors. Researchers have found high levels of microbes, typically found in the mouth, in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients. When people die from dementia, it’s usually caused by an infection such as a UTI or lung infection. For some people, surgery can be too much on the body and lead to death. Some people with dementia have a slow, progressive degeneration of the brain to the point they’re bedridden and stop eating and drinking, which ultimately leads to death. Focus on cleaning your brain and reducing inflammation for dementia prevention. The glymphatic system cleans the brain, mainly at night, which is one of the primary purposes of sleep. This system removes malformed proteins and plaquing and rejuvenates the brain. Anything that inhibits sleeping may increase your risk for Alzheimer’s, heart attacks, strokes, cancer, blood sugar issues, and type 2 diabetes. Sleep apnea can also be problematic. You need 8 to 9 hours of sleep! Alcohol significantly interferes with REM sleep and is very damaging to brain health. To prevent Alzheimer’s, you must flood the brain with oxygen. Exercise is one of the best ways to do this! Exercise stimulates the growth of brain cells and the hormone BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor). Adequate sun exposure and high amounts of vitamin D can help support healthy sleep. A diet high in sugar and carbohydrates can starve your neurons. Brain cells love ketones! To get into ketosis, you must lower your carbohydrate intake. If you have any early signs of dementia, try taking ketones as a supplement or MCT oil. Niacin may also be helpful. Take 50 mg daily, slowly increasing to 500 mg per day. Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, age 59, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. Find out if one trace mineral can help end your arthritis pain for good. 0:00 Introduction: The number 1 missing trace mineral in arthritis 0:24 What is boron? 0:57 Boron benefits 3:26 How much boron do you need for arthritis? Today, we’re going to talk about the number 1 missing trace mineral involved in arthritis. Vitamin D and magnesium are often used for arthritis, but they won’t work without enough boron. There aren't many studies on boron, but there is some promising data involving boron and arthritis. Boron seems to be the key trace mineral that allows calcium and magnesium to work. If you’re deficient in boron, you’ll have excess calcium and magnesium in the urine and tend to get more calcification in the soft tissues. You might also have weaker bones. Here are some of the health benefits of boron: • Helps keep minerals inside the bone • Allows vitamin D to be activated • Helps prevent tooth decay Boron helps prevent joint inflammation by reducing C-reactive protein. A boron deficiency can also cause receding gums, kidney stones, calcium in the arteries, and calcium in the joints. The parathyroid gland stores the most boron in the body and produces a hormone that helps control calcium. If you don’t have enough calcium, the parathyroid hormone will increase to extract the calcium from your bones. You need boron to allow this process to work. If you’re low in boron, you might also be low in testosterone or estrogen. Research suggests that boron can even potentially help reduce the risk of prostate cancer. To use boron to help relieve arthritis symptoms, try starting with 3 mg of boron three times per day and see if the problem resolves within 1 to 3 months. • #1 Best Meal to Stop a Heart Attack and Stroke 18.09.2026 15min
The best meal to prevent a heart attack or stroke will also help clean your arteries! Support cardiovascular health naturally by consuming the top foods for stroke and heart attack prevention that also help prevent blocked arteries. Watch this episode next: Reset Your Body in 5 Days (With Zero Food) 0:00 Introduction: How to clean arteries naturally 1:12 Clot formation and blocked arteries 4:10 Excess iron 5:57 Leaky gums, leaky gut, and cardiovascular disease 6:42 Foods that unclog arteries and prevent heart attack 10:56 More tips to prevent a heart attack or stroke Did you know that clots cause 80%-90% of heart attacks and 87%-91% of strokes? This is why the top foods for stroke and heart attack prevention also help clean your arteries. Typically, when a clot forms, it dissolves within minutes or hours. This is a normal survival mechanism and does not cause heart attacks or strokes. When the normal clotting process becomes dysfunctional, you can develop blocked arteries. Dysfunctional clotting typically starts from a leak in your gums or gut when endotoxins enter the body. Excess iron can contribute to the problem. Pathogens need iron to survive. Excessive free iron can feed and amplify endotoxins, thereby awakening dormant pathogenic microbes. Excess iron typically comes from fortified foods, such as bread, pasta, cereal, and ultra-processed carbs. If you need iron, it's best to get it from red meat rather than a supplement. Stress increases adrenaline, which can amplify the effects of pathogens and cause them to consume more iron. The following factors can cause issues in the gut, which can in turn affect the clotting process and contribute to blocked arteries: •Gluten •Alcohol •Smoking •Seed oils •Ultra-processed foods •NSAIDs •Antibiotics To prevent a heart attack naturally, try the following meal. It’s composed of the best foods for clogged arteries! •Wild-caught salmon or fatty fish •Salad: Arugula, beets, extra virgin olive oil, apple cider vinegar •Garlic •Sauerkraut •Green or black tea •Dark chocolate After the meal, go for a 10-20 minute post-meal walk, focusing on nasal breathing. Junk food addiction isn’t an accident. It’s part of the design. Food manufacturers use food engineering, artificial flavors, and even texture and sound to make processed foods more appealing. Finely ground “microsalt” and carefully blended natural and artificial flavors are designed to deliver intense flavor and keep you coming back for more. Many ultra-processed foods are engineered to be highly palatable without providing lasting satisfaction, making it easy to keep eating without feeling truly satiated. Manufacturers even research the “bliss point” to optimize taste and encourage repeat consumption.Because these foods are designed to be difficult to resist, portion control can be a challenge. One of the simplest strategies is to avoid buying junk food in the first place and avoid grocery shopping when you’re hungry or tired.DATA: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2161831323013820 https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6550161/ Dr. Eric Berg, DC, Bio:Dr. Berg, DC, age 61, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis and Intermittent Fasting. Today I want to answer some important questions about probiotics. Probiotics are microbes. Microbes are a crucial part of our world. They convert carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and sulfur into forms that living things can use. We have ten times more microbes living on and inside our bodies than we have cells. Microbes have many functions and help us in various ways, including: • Helping to make nutrients available • Providing immune protection • Protecting against pathogens • Supporting detoxification • Improving digestion • Helping to make vitamins Strong hydrochloric acid in the stomach can kill a good portion of microbes. Bile salts also affect the microbiome. But, some microbes are resilient and can even live without oxygen. How to support the survival of probiotics in the stomach: 1. Take a probiotic supplement or consume probiotic foods at the end of your meal 2. Consume probiotics earlier in the day 3. If fasting, drink more water with your probiotics 4. Don’t take probiotics with lemon water or apple cider vinegar water 5. Find out about the worst protein in the world. You won’t want to eat this! DATA: https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/nursing-and-health-professions/lysinoalanine 0:00 Introduction: The worst protein in the world 0:56 What is textured vegetable protein? 1:52 How is textured vegetable protein made? 4:26 Protein poisoning In this video, we’re going to talk about one of the worst protein sources in the world. After having a horrible reaction to some “chicken wings” that I ate, I called to find out what was in them. It turns out they were plant-based chicken wings made with textured vegetable protein. Textured vegetable protein, or textured soy protein, is the worst protein in the world. Soy or cottonseed is used as the “vegetable” to make this protein. Textured vegetable protein was invented in 1960 as a way to use the waste produced from seed oils. It has been used in veggie burgers, fake meat products, cereals, and many other food products. Textured vegetable protein is an ultra-processed ingredient. To make it, oil, nutrients, and fiber are removed from the soybean using heat and chemicals like hexane. There are no long-term safety studies or upper limit on hexane established by the FDA. Chronic hexane toxicity is a condition caused by inhaling hexane, so what happens when you ingest it? Over 95% of textured vegetable protein is GMO, and when consumed, it robs nutrients from your liver. It’s very similar to soy protein isolates. Any time you consume pure protein without fat, you are creating stress in your body, especially if the protein doesn't contain key nutrients like fat-soluble vitamins A, E, D, and K.
