  • Episode 17. Harlem. First time momma part 1 11.06.2022 31p
Don't kill me! I know it's been a while. But I have a great episode for you, per usual I have a show/movie recommendation for y'all, this week it is 'Harlem' on Amazon prime. Chefs kiss, I loved it, and in this episode I enthusiastically explain why. In part 2, Im joined by a former client of mine, Ryans Momma, Barber Jawn herself, Angelita. Love her to pieces and her birth really made all of us work, which is expected with first time moms.
  • Episode 16: Made by Design. Da Name. 12.03.2022 21p
Netflix special 'made by design' is a show that explores the different way Nigerian people have customized the field of architecture. In part B Im talking about the meaning behind my business name which started out as just a tag play name for social media. And a little added “my name is” bonus for the people that can’t pronounce my first name Ti-ti-lo-la.
  • Episode 15: A classic sensitive cancer, LONG labor...of love 30.11.2021 32p
Per usual, I opened this episode with me babbling about not having a tv for a while, my favorite movie of all time being best man holiday which is definitely more of an unhealthy obsession. Part 2 it's all about long labors, the misconception, how to prepare for labor and i added a little herbal nerd stuff at the end about black and blue cohosh.
  • Episode 14: The Handmaids tale. Black breastfeeding week 29.08.2021 20p
Im back! Sorry for the delay between episodes, but i have another show review for you all! A handmaids tale, i must admit this is my 3rd time trying to get into this show. The first 2 episodes are really slow, but this isn't a action type  of show. We get to explore the minds and lifestyles of a twisted group of people. In honor of black breast feeding week, i thought it would be fitting to talk a little about breastfeeding and what it can look like, i even talk a little about how i approach the topic of breast-feeding with my clients.
  • Episode 13: If Beale street could talk. Placenta. 28.03.2021 21p
For this episode I watched a 2018 movie version of the great 'If Beale street could talk' written by James Baldwin. A beautiful master piece that show cases young pure love. If you know anything about me, I'm a sucker for a good love story. In part B, I dive into the topic of Placentas, what is it, whats the point, what does it look like, what is the purpose of it, and what you can do with it.
  • Episode 12: Sleeping on the Job. Postpartum Depression 21.03.2021 14p
Falling asleep with the TV on turned me off completely, so i decided this week to take a break from watching shows and movies. Part 2 of this episode I explain the difference between baby blues, postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis, no necessarily how to treat them but more how to identify when you need help.
  • Episode 11: Eve's Bayou. Maternity leave. Childcare. 14.03.2021 22p
In this episode i watched the classic 1997 film 'Eve's Bayou' for the very first time, I actually realized that I myself, don't have a black card and i promise to start watching more black classic films. In part B to this episode i go on and on about why this country sets us up for failure by only giving us 6 weeks of partially paid leave, and we are subjected to go back to work, to then turn around and use that said money to pay for childcare. THE GHETTO.
  • Episode 10. Coming 2 America. Circumcision 07.03.2021 23p
AHHHHH We are at episode 10, and why not use this time to give you my thoughts on 'Coming 2 America', we are all hitting milestones. First off, i thought everyone did a really good job and the movie was actually funny. I will say that it was getting a little nervous that this sequel was actually a musical, and OG listeners know how i feel about musicals. Part 2 to this episode i thought it would be fitting to talk about circumcisions, i even drop some knowledge regarding Female Genital Mutilation.
  • Episode 9. Behind her eyes. Picking a health car provider. 01.03.2021 24p
I recently just finished "Behind her eyes" on netflix, and let me tell you these British show always seems to hit. Amazing show would recommend watching this if you're into sinister like shows, definitely not gruesome but theres a twisted element that ties the whole show together. In part 2, I am discussing how to create your ideal birth plan, from researching your birth options in your city/state, to going on consultations with providers, and of course my commentary in between.
  • Episode 8. Black Rose. Working girl. 21.02.2021 21p
Finally something that brought on the water works. I love a goo tear jerking movie, and Black Rose was just that, I felt inspired, I felt seen and managed to get a good cry out. Part B I thought it was fitting to babble about the different part time jobs I’ve had in the past.
  • Episode 7: Malcolm & Marie. Being a single Midwife. 14.02.2021 22p
Happy Valentines Day everyone! and Happy Feb. 14th to my cranky folx that don't think today is a special day. I have another Netflix original to recommend to you all, not so lovey dovey but def a must watch. Even if you liked the movie or not, you most def saw yourself or the partner you currently have/had otter one of the lines in this movie. In part B i thought it'll fitting to ramble on and on about what it's like being single, is this experience of mine due to me being a midwife, a cancer or because i have high expectations in men? Am I the wack one? who knows?
  • Episode 6: Small Axe series. Managing period blood. 07.02.2021 26p
Surprise! Im switching it up a little with an amazon original piece recommendation, Small Axe. Theres only 1 season that consist of 5 episodes out right now. Loved this show/movie, i learned so much about Caribbean history in the UK. In part B I did my best to explain the different ways to manage period blood but ended up babbling about menstrual cups. Enjoy!
  • Episode 5: Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. How to find the perfect provider. 03.01.2021 28p
Surprise surprise! Im here again to recommend a Netflix movie, 'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom' I would say its all about the mother of blues but the writers and directors (which one of them being Denzel himself) did an amazing job of capturing each character, which resulted in equal screen time for each actor, theres tons of monologues when I'm sure is refreshing for the people that appreciate the fine art of films/acting would appreciate. In the 2nd part of this episode i try my best not to convince everyone to hire a midwife, but how to explore your birth options and how to tackle the fine art of finding a health care provider that will go along this journey of pregnancy with you.
