Episodi

  • Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 02.03.2026 33min
Liam and Bec reminisce about exercise adventures including Saturday morning "training", weird walks around the lake and canoeing matrix moves. Liam owns up to taking the credit for laser tag!  The 2004 film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind presents plenty of discussion about ethics, relationships and whether it's wise to erase your memory of your ex.  A reminder to listeners regarding Ep 1 of this season - if you want to share your diarrhea rhyme/ song verse, feel free to email it to us at [email protected] so we can read it out in the final episode of this season.  Where to watch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: Apple TV
  • True Lies 19.12.2025 30min
Liam brings another movie quiz for Bec, but this time it’s a bit easier and in Bec’s specialty area - which film is this song in? A bit of spoon feeding going on, but satisfying nonetheless.  This episode’s film is True Lies (1994), a secret-spy comedy-romance film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis.  It gave huge 90s nostalgia, with flashbacks to Friday nights on the couch with a pizza and True Lies being played on tv for the 100th time. The one-liners and iconic scenes made it a fun re-watch.
  • The Substance 05.12.2025 53min
Liam has been naughty! Bec shares a couple stories about Liam’s car-related cheeky behaviour.  The hosts review 2024 smash hit body horror, The Substance. This film was wild, with incredible visuals and performances. The dark humour, shocking scenes and social commentary made it a must-watch - even when the watching was challenging!
  • Armageddon 21.11.2025 41min
We are back for Season 2!  The first three episodes were recorded in early 2025 - the rest of the season will be more contemporary!  Contact us - [email protected] What better way to launch Season 2 than with a series of silly, immature, giggling rhymes about diarrhea - penned by the hosts on a train station floor some 17 years ago.  For this week's film, Armageddon (1998), Bec and Liam discuss the cast, the over-the-top disaster tropes, memorable montages and emotional tunes, and some scientific inaccuracies.  Where to watch Armageddon: Disney +, Stan, Apple TV
  • Top Secret 23.02.2025 37min
In this episode of Pick Your Flick, hosts Bec and Liam go head-to-head in a Bec Story battle. Will Liam be able to identify the films Bec describes in her unconventional, sometimes incorrect manner?  The hosts then dive into the unique genre of parody with a review of the 1984 comedy Top Secret. Along with guest speaker Ian, they dissect the quirky humour, clever scenes, and underwhelming storytelling that define this film, and reflect on what makes some parodies funnier than others.  Where to watch Top Secret: Binge, Apple TV
  • The Dive 16.02.2025 33min
This episode, Liam crafts a trivia game to expose Bec's poor knowledge and memory of film directors. But it's fine, it's not like we're hosting a movie podcast or anything...  Following last week's excellent film, this week the hosts discuss the not-so-excellent film The Dive (2023). Sometimes it's fun to hate! And to imagine alternate endings that could have made a bad film slightly more interesting.  Where to watch The Dive: Prime Video, Apple TV
  • All Of Us Strangers 09.02.2025 42min
This episode, Liam has a pivotal realisation about the format of this podcast, and the friends discuss a weekend shared in Brisbane.  This week's film, All Of Us Strangers (2023), has a big impact on both Liam and Bec. The beautifully crafted story is a powerful and unique exploration of relationships and healing, with an excellent and heartbreaking soundtrack to boot!  Where to watch All Of Us Strangers: Disney+, Apple TV
  • Minari 02.02.2025 36min
This week, Liam shares the story of when Bec accidentally swindled the local video store. The hosts then discuss Minari (2020), the delicate story of a Korean-American family's pursuit of the American dream. Stay tuned at the end for a bonus conversation about how the hosts would fare in a hypothetical zombie apocalypse and whether a cinema would make a good place to hide.  Please bear with us through some slightly patchy audio in this episode - better recording equipment is on its way!  Where to watch Minari: SBS on Demand, Apple TV
  • Poor Things 26.01.2025 39min
The hosts play another friendship word association game to reveal Bec's a scatterbrain, Liam's a silent stumbler and they're both PC Tetris nerds.  This week we unpack the Academy Award winning film, Poor Things (2023). Outstanding performances by Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo and Willem Defoe alongside beautifully scripted storytelling and cinematography make this one to remember.  Where to watch Poor Things: Disney+, Apple TV
  • Cocaine Bear 19.01.2025 34min
As always, Liam and Bec have a quick chat about what they've been watching lately. Liam introduces a friendship word association game to remember some friendship fun times including falling on his head at yoga, too much vodka, clams, diarrhea and Mr Marshmallow Man.   This week we unpack Cocaine Bear, the 2023 comedy/horror (is it really a horror though??) in all of its glorious madness. We just can't get enough of this wild ride.  Where to watch Cocaine Bear: Paramount +, Prime Video, Apple TV
  • Death Becomes Her 12.01.2025 43min
Your hosts discuss Liam's pick, the 1992 dark comedy Death Becomes Her. From excellent comedic performances to pettiness and plotting, it's an endlessly fun and quotable film.  Please bear with us through some slightly patchy audio in this episode - better recording equipment is on its way!  Where to watch Death Becomes Her: Binge, Apple TV
  • The Departed 07.01.2025 39min
Bec and Liam unpack the 2006 Martin Scorsese drama, The Departed. With an all-star cast, excellent soundtrack and complex characters, there is a lot to like about this film.

Friends Bec and Liam introduce themselves and their movie-going friendship, then take a deep dive into the classic 80’s teen adventure film The Goonies.
