  Britain, France and Canada have announced sweeping sanctions on trade with Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank. The British Foreign Secretary accused Israeli settlers of "ethnic cleansing" against the Palestinians living there. Israel responded by ordering the closure of the British consulate in Jerusalem.
