310. Why Your Next Client Isn't Coming From Your Content (The Future is Focus Series) 06.08.2026 23minWe hear so much about content marketing these days that it's easy to believe it's the only path to growing an expert business. But every time I ask a room full of business owners where their clients actually come from, the answer is almost always the same: referrals and personal connections.I believe we've become too focused on creating content and not focused enough on building relationships. Don't get me wrong. I love content. It's been a huge part of growing my business. But content takes time to compound, and most experts need clients long before that happens. In this episode, I explain why personal connection is still the fastest, most reliable way to build a healthy pipeline, why clear positioning makes referrals dramatically easier, and the simple outreach practice I teach that helps people consistently stay top of mind without feeling salesy or spending all day networking. If you've been wondering why your marketing isn't producing the results you want, this episode might change what you focus on next.Sponsored by Squarespace:Free Guide to Squarespace Circle: nobsmastery.com/squarespaceTune into this episode to hear:Why referrals are still the biggest source of clients for most expert businessesThe biggest mistake people make when they rely too heavily on content marketingHow clearer messaging leads to more referrals and a stronger pipelineMy 1KO (One Killer Outreach) strategy for building relationships that generate businessWhat is more valuable in an AI-powered worldMentioned:Free Relationship Opportunities Spreadsheet: nobslinks.com/connectionsResources:Free Relationship Opportunities Spreadsheet: nobslinks.com/connectionsGrab the first chapter of my new book Scale Solo: scalesolobook.comProgram: No BS Mastery: https://nobsmastery.com/programThe Price to Freedom Calculator™ - http://nobsmastery.com/priceGrab a copy of my book: Badass Your Brand - https://www.badassyourbrand.com/Program: No BS Agency Mastery: https://join.nobsmastery.com/agency-masteryNo BS Clients Lab: https://nobsclientslab.com/ -

308. This WILL Grow Your Business (The Future is Focus Series) 23.07.2026 28minThe experts I know who are the most profitable, the most referable, and the most confident in their work have all done this. They picked a focus, they got really good at it, and they stuck with it long enough for it to compound and build a reputation on it.That’s it. That’s the secret sauce.Today I want to talk about what that actually looks like in practice by sharing an example from my own business that will make this click in a way that all the theory in the world never quite does.Sponsored by Squarespace:Free Guide to Squarespace Circle: nobsmastery.com/squarespaceTune into this episode to hear:How committing to specialization brings ease and profitability to your businessAll the ways being platform agnostic in the early days of Worstofall Design actually cost us time, effort, and cashWhy losing prospects was scary, but worth it in the endHow specializing boosts your ability to lead clients through projects and stay focusedMentioned:Wordpress Vs. 307. What's More Important Than Gaining Clarity (The Future is Focus Series) 16.07.2026 19min“I just want to get it right the first time.”I cannot tell you how many times someone has reached out to me for branding services when they don’t even have a business yet. They don’t want to make mistakes. They want everything to be perfect right out of the gate. And, yeah, don’t we all? It’s hard and scary to put something out there that you don’t feel is finished or tested. It can feel like setting yourself up for failure, and most humans are always trying very hard to avoid failure. As we’re talking about focus this summer, I’m hearing a version of it from people all the time. They don’t feel clear enough yet to know where to focus. They want to nail their messaging, their offer, their one-liner before they ever put it out there. And of course, there is work you can and should do up front. But it’s not going to be perfect. The only way to actually perfect your message, your offer, your one-liner so that it resonates with your ideal clients is to get out there and say it to a lot of real people. Today I want to talk about the clarity that comes from taking action before you feel ready.Sponsored by Squarespace:Free Guide to Squarespace Circle: nobsmastery.com/squarespaceTune into this episode to hear:Why clarity requires getting out of your head and connecting with other peopleWhy there is no such thing as getting it right once and foreverHow real-world data about your business can surprise you Why you need real clients to work with when you’re designing your processHow spinning your wheels chasing perfection literally costs you moneyResources:Grab the first chapter of my new book Scale Solo: scalesolobook.comProgram: No BS Mastery: https://nobsmastery.com/programThe Price to Freedom Calculator™ - http://nobsmastery.com/priceGrab a copy of my book: Badass Your Brand - https://www.badassyourbrand.com/Program: No BS Agency Mastery: https://join.nobsmastery.com/agency-masteryNo BS Clients Lab: https://nobsclientslab.com/ -
306. A Successful Business Is a Boring Business (The Future is Focus Series) 09.07.2026 17minSuccessful business owners have to do the same things over and over, tweaking and refining as they go, until they have a clear, repeatable process that works.Issue is most entrepreneurs aren’t really wired to do the same things over and over again. We tend to be novelty seekers and risk takers, people who chase ideas and get inspired by new possibilities. So if you find yourself jumping from idea to idea before anything really has a chance to stick and start working, you’re not alone and you can stop beating yourself up over it. But you do need to get yourself out of that mode if you want your business to succeed for the long term.Today, I want to talk about how you get better at catching yourself chasing new, shiny ideas before it derails your progress.Sponsored by Squarespace:Free Guide to Squarespace Circle: nobsmastery.com/squarespaceTune into this episode to hear:Why entrepreneurs are naturally wired for starting things and why building a successful business requires an entirely different skill set.Why new ideas feel so exciting, urgent, and irresistible (and why that's often a trap). How the most successful business owners actually build momentum The difference between the "starting gear" and the "staying gear" every entrepreneur needs to master.Resources:Grab the first chapter of my new book Scale Solo: scalesolobook.comProgram: No BS Mastery: https://nobsmastery.com/programThe Price to Freedom Calculator™ - http://nobsmastery.com/priceGrab a copy of my book: Badass Your Brand - https://www.badassyourbrand.com/Program: No BS Agency Mastery: https://join.nobsmastery.com/agency-masteryNo BS Clients Lab: https://nobsclientslab.com/ -
305. The Fastest Way to Make More Money (The Future is Focus Series) 02.07.2026 28minEverybody wants more ease and less overwhelm in their business. So why do so many of us end up creating businesses that are exhausting to run?In this episode, I'm kicking off a special summer series (“The Future is Focus) by sharing one of the biggest lessons I've learned in 15 years of entrepreneurship: the path to more profit, freedom, and clarity isn't doing more — it's simplifying.I share how I went from running an increasingly complicated business to stripping everything down and discovering that saying no to most opportunities actually created more growth, less stress, and a whole lot more ease.If you've got a never-ending to-do list, too many ideas, or feel busy all the time without making the progress you want, this episode is for you. This episode is the first in a special summer series about focus and creating more ease, profit, and freedom.Sponsored by Squarespace:Free Guide to Squarespace Circle: nobsmastery.com/squarespaceTune into this episode to hear:Why complicated doesn't mean sophisticatedThe hidden cost of too many offers and too many optionsHow simplifying my business eliminated overwhelmWhy closing off opportunities can actually help you make more moneyWhy closing off opportunities can actually help you make more moneyResources:Grab the first chapter of my new book Scale Solo: scalesolobook.comProgram: No BS Mastery: https://nobsmastery.com/programThe Price to Freedom Calculator™ - http://nobsmastery.com/priceGrab a copy of my book: Badass Your Brand - https://www.badassyourbrand.com/Program: No BS Agency Mastery: https://join.nobsmastery.com/agency-masteryNo BS Clients Lab: https://nobsclientslab.com/ -
304. Kris Byers on Leading Bigger Clients Without Losing Your Boundaries 25.06.2026 37minI’m delighted to have today’s guest back on the podcast. When we last heard from Kris Byers, he told us about the incredible turnaround and evolution of his business since implementing the No BS Model. In eighteen months, he went from scared of investing in joining the program to quadrupling his income – with a third of the clients! I wanted to check back in with Kris because since that episode, he’s won awards, bagged some really big clients, and run incredible projects. You'll want to hear about how he handled working with bigger companies and more decision makers while still getting rid of the BS. And he’ll explain why he’s shifting his focus back to small businesses, even though he now knows how to successfully manage the big guys. Kris Byers is the founder of Horrible Brands, where he helps purpose-driven business owners create personal brands to show up with clarity and confidence, and create real world impact. 303. How My Students Are Building Confidence So Fast 18.06.2026 19minWe’ve all been there. You’re sitting across from someone you hope will hire you, there’s the potential for real money, and they ask you to do what they think is just a little bit of work on spec for free. Not to mention they want you to submit a proposal before they commit. You might have said okay and done that work, submitted that proposal, and crossed your fingers. Maybe you booked that client in the end, maybe you didn’t. But you probably didn’t feel great about it either way. This just happened to one of the students in the current No BS Mastery cohort. The difference was that not only did she hold her boundary of not working for free, but she also had a clear way to follow up by sending them the link to her LP. People talk about boundaries like they're a mindset problem. You just have to believe in yourself and you’ll stop doing work for free and charging what you’re worth. But I don’t think that’s really how it works. I think boundaries have a lot more to do with structure. Because when you have the right structure, boundaries are really easy to hold. All this month, I’ve been sharing some of the more unexpected wins coming out of the new No BS Mastery cohort, and today I want to talk about why the No BS Model is making it so much easier for my students to confidently maintain their boundaries and say no to free work and clients who aren’t a good fit.Tune into this episode to hear:How clear processes and structure make it so much easier to maintain your boundariesHow the LP process helps you say no to free work without closing the door on the relationshipWhy it’s so necessary to filter out tire kickers and bad fit clients, even when you’re not fully bookedWhy just five weeks in, my students have already made incredible strides in their confidenceResources:Watch my TED Talk: When You Bank True Confidence, Anything Is PossibleGrab the first chapter of my new book Scale Solo: scalesolobook.comProgram: No BS Mastery: https://nobsmastery.com/programThe Price to Freedom Calculator™ - http://nobsmastery.com/priceGrab a copy of my book: Badass Your Brand - https://www.badassyourbrand.com/Program: No BS Agency Mastery: https://join.nobsmastery.com/agency-masteryNo BS Clients Lab: https://nobsclientslab.com/ -
302. How My Students Are Building Momentum So Fast 11.06.2026 15minMost people join a program like No BS Mastery for the content. They want the tactics, the frameworks, the method, the tools, the software. And we absolutely deliver on that. What people don’t always realize they need is community. Today, I want to share some student feedback and my own experiences that prove that our community is part of the program for a reason and it’s a key piece of building momentum for our students.Tune into this episode to hear:Why community matters way more than most independent business owners thinkThe “micro wins” that happen before the big financial winsWhy clarity and confidence change how clients respond to youWhy the right room changes people faster than another framework ever couldResources:Grab the first chapter of my new book Scale Solo: scalesolobook.comProgram: No BS Mastery: https://nobsmastery.com/programThe Price to Freedom Calculator™ - http://nobsmastery.com/priceGrab a copy of my book: Badass Your Brand - https://www.badassyourbrand.com/Program: No BS Agency Mastery: https://join.nobsmastery.com/agency-masteryNo BS Clients Lab: https://nobsclientslab.com/ -
301. Why My Students Are Closing Clients So Fast 04.06.2026 20minYou know that moment when things finally click? When the sales conversations stop feeling awkward. When people instantly “get” what you do. When clients start showing up before you even feel fully ready. That’s what’s been happening inside my current No BS Mastery cohort, and honestly, I’m still fired up about it. And the crazy thing is that we are just five weeks into this program! So in this episode, I’m breaking down why this is happening — and why it’s not luck, hustle, or “natural sales talent.”Tune into this episode to hear:Why most service businesses don’t actually have a reliable pipeline systemThe hidden reason sales feel “hard”Why community and accountability accelerate momentumThe difference between freelancing and actually owning a businessWhat happens when your offer finally lands effortlesslyResources:Program: No BS Mastery: https://nobsmastery.com/programGrab the first chapter of my new book Scale Solo: scalesolobook.comGrab a copy of my book: Badass Your Brand - https://www.badassyourbrand.com/Program: No BS Agency Mastery: https://join.nobsmastery.com/agency-masteryNo BS Clients Lab: https://nobsclientslab.com/The Price to Freedom Calculator™ - http://nobsmastery.com/price -
300. Emily Wilkins on Niching Down, Burning Out, and Coming Back Smarter 28.05.2026 38minOne of my star students, Emily Wilkins, joined me on the show a while back, to talk about how niching down blew up her business in the best way. She’s back today for another candid behind-the-scenes chat about where her business is now after several years of implementing the No BS Model. We’re digging into different ways she’s iterated her offerings within the model, what worked well, what "kind of" worked, and ideas that did not pan out at all. I know you’re going to learn so much from Emily and her journey.Emily Wilkins, Founder and CEO of Marketing Metal, spent the first decade of her career in marketing and sales support roles at job shops, both internally and from the agency side. Noticing their unique challenges when it came to marketing their services, Emily engineered a Radical BS-free process that gets these vital small businesses exactly what they need to reach their goals in just a few days–and empowers them to use it.Tune into this episode to hear:How Emily got lured back to working on retainer after years of successfully running the No BS modelWhy the math on retainers didn’t work for her, even with charging higher ratesWhat led to burnout, despite implementing the intensives modelThe epic backstory of how Emily found and doubled down on her nicheLearn more about Emily Wilkins:Marketing Metal: http://marketingmetal.comInstagram: @emilyjoannimalConnect on LinkedIn: http://linkedin.com/in/emilyjoannwilkins/MentionedThe Retainer Trap: Why Recurring Revenue Isn’t FreedomEmily Wilkins on How Niching Down and Owning That Niche Allowed Her Business to Thrive Resources:Grab the first chapter of my new book Scale Solo: scalesolobook.comGrab a copy of my book: Badass Your Brand - https://www.badassyourbrand.com/Program: No BS Mastery: https://nobsmastery.com/programProgram: No BS Agency Mastery: https://join.nobsmastery.com/agency-masteryNo BS Clients Lab: https://nobsclientslab.com/The Price to Freedom Calculator™ - http://nobsmastery.com/price -
299. The Freedom-First Business Model 21.05.2026 31minThese past few weeks, I’ve been talking about the pros and cons of different business models that are common for expert-based businesses. I’ve tried lots of different models, so I know firsthand the challenges of trying to make a business work with a model that may or may not fit with your business goals. We’ve gone over running a business with a team and a business selling low-ticket digital products. Today, I’m digging into the final model for expert-based business owners, which I’m obviously a big fan of, the No BS Model. This is for experts who want to sell their services at a premium rate and who are more interested in having freedom and flexibility in their lives than scaling up as much as you possibly can. If you want a business that’s built for freedom, flexibility, and puts you on solid ground to grow in new directions, let’s get into it.Tune into this episode to hear:The core constraints that are the basis of the No BS ModelThe formula that lets you calculate exactly what to charge for your services How the No BS sales process positions you as an expert advisor Why dedicated time and strategies for marketing is a core piece of the No BS ModelWhat’s amazing about being a solo expert using the No BS Model, and the drawbacks of being soloHow the No BS Model lays the foundation for moving to other business modelsResources:Grab the first chapter of my new book Scale Solo: scalesolobook.comGrab a copy of my book: Badass Your Brand - https://www.badassyourbrand.com/Program: No BS Mastery: https://nobsmastery.com/programProgram: No BS Agency Mastery: https://join.nobsmastery.com/agency-masteryNo BS Clients Lab: https://nobsclientslab.com/The Price to Freedom Calculator™ - http://nobsmastery.com/price -
298. The Digital Product Dream vs. Reality (No BS Edition) 14.05.2026 24minIn this week's episode of No BS Mastery, I'm pulling back the curtain on the "passive income digital product" dream — the good, the messy, and the stuff nobody warns you about.Because it’s a business model that I hear a lot of people gravitating towards when they’re struggling financially: the one to many model. It might be a digital product or a course, and even though those can be very different to implement, the basic principles and pitfalls are similar. I've sold digital products ranging from $100 to $30,000+. I've done the funnels, the webinars, the ad spend, the course rewrites. I know this world inside and out — and I want you to go into it (if you choose to) with both eyes wide open.Tune into this episode to hear:Why the people who want to hire you are NOT the same people who'll buy your course (I learned this the hard way after thousands of sales and only ONE client crossover)Why there is no such thing as truly set it and forget it passive incomeWhy selling a digital product is not the answer to struggling to make sales for your servicesWhat you need to know about profitability, scale, and your audience before you create a digital productResources:Grab the first chapter of my new book Scale Solo: scalesolobook.comGrab a copy of my book: Badass Your Brand - https://www.badassyourbrand.com/Program: No BS Mastery: https://nobsmastery.com/programProgram: No BS Agency Mastery: https://join.nobsmastery.com/agency-masteryNo BS Clients Lab: https://nobsclientslab.com/The Price to Freedom Calculator™ - http://nobsmastery.com/price -
297. Think You Need a Team? Listen to This First. 07.05.2026 28minAt some point, you look at your workload and think: “I just need help.” Here’s the truth most people won’t tell you: Hiring employees doesn’t automatically give you more freedom or more profit. In fact, if you don’t fully understand the business model you’re stepping into, it can do the exact opposite. No one business model is right for everyone and every business model has its benefits and drawbacks. I’ve seen way too many small business owners dip their toes into a bunch of different business models without really thinking through what it entails or why they’re doing it. Over the years, I’ve run my business following three different business models. So this month, I’m going to break those models down and get really candid about the pros and cons, to help you make an informed choice about a model that fits your business and your goals. In this episode, I discuss the employee model.Tune into this episode to hear:Why feeling like you need help isn’t the same as being ready for employeesThe systems, processes (and more) that you need before you bring on employeesHow employees change the kinds of projects you can take on and how scalable your business can beThe top three challenges owners face with the employee model Resources:Grab the first chapter of my new book Scale Solo: scalesolobook.comGrab a copy of my book: Badass Your Brand - https://www.badassyourbrand.com/Program: No BS Mastery: https://nobsmastery.com/programProgram: No BS Agency Mastery: https://join.nobsmastery.com/agency-masteryNo BS Clients Lab: https://nobsclientslab.com/The Price to Freedom Calculator™ - http://nobsmastery.com/price -
296. The First Step I Never Skip (No Matter Who the Client Is) 30.04.2026 20minI talk all the time about the power of using the Lead Product process instead of writing free proposals. But what if someone is ready to hire you right from the get-go, should you skip the LP? Wouldn’t doing the LP slow down the whole process and even put you at risk of losing the client? All this month, I’ve been answering some of the most common questions I got during my recent three-day bootcamp. And this one is a genuine dilemma. Why would you steer someone who’s ready to roll on a big project to the much less expensive lead product? In this episode, I break down why I never, ever skip the Lead Product, no matter who the client is.Tune into this episode to hear:Why even your most qualified, ready-to-buy clients still need a “diagnosis” firstThe real reason the lead product makes your projects faster, easier, and more profitableHow to position this step so it feels like a natural next move—not a frustrating detourAnd the surprising way saying “not yet” actually builds more trust (not less)Mentioned:Grab the first chapter of my new book Scale Solo: scalesolobook.comNo BS Clients Lab: https://nobsclientslab.com/Program: No BS Mastery: https://nobsmastery.com/programResources:Grab a copy of my book: Badass Your Brand - https://www.badassyourbrand.com/Program: No BS Agency Mastery: https://join.nobsmastery.com/agency-masteryThe Price to Freedom Calculator™ - http://nobsmastery.com/price -
295. The Retainer Trap: Why Recurring Revenue Isn’t Freedom 23.04.2026 27minPredictable income. Recurring revenue. Long-term client relationships. These are the reasons why retainer clients seem so appealing. Who wants to start from zero every month when you could have a committed client? But the truth is retainer clients don’t actually provide, let alone ensure, financial stability. They might actually keep you from having the kind of business and freedom you really want.In this episode, I talk about why retainers seem so appealing, and how they’re actually holding you back. 294. Scope Creep, Sticker Shock and Endless Revisions — Solved! 16.04.2026 27minWhat do I do when a client keeps changing their mind? What do I do when we're halfway through a project and they want to add five more things? What do I do when I present a price to a prospect and they get sticker shock and start trying negotiating with me or taking things out? These were the kinds of questions I heard in the Q & A sessions during a recent 3-day workshop. And while I can and did give advice on what to do in those specific situations, wouldn't it be better to prevent them from happening in the first place?Anything I could tell you to do to fix those problems as they come up is just a Band-Aid. You have to go back to the source if you don’t want to keep running into them over and over again with future clients. And the source of the problem isn’t your clients. It’s your process. 291. Lydia Savramis on Building a Business That Fits Your Life 26.03.2026 38minThis episode perfectly captures something I think a lot about: what does it actually look like to build a business that supports your life?My guest, Lydia Savramis, is someone who truly embodies that.Lydia didn’t start out in marketing or online business at all. She was running an orthotics practice, seeing patients all day, when she started a podcast as a creative outlet back when podcasts were still a pretty new thing. That little experiment ended up opening the door to a completely different career. But what I loved most about our conversation isn’t the pivot story. It’s the way Lydia has designed her business so that it genuinely fits her life.We talk about burnout, boundaries, creativity, and what it takes to build a business that doesn’t consume you. Lydia Savramis runs RTL Productions, a boutique marketing and branding studio in Cumberland, Maryland. She helps non-profits, municipalities and professionals show up clearly and confidently online without all the overwhelm.Tune into this episode to hear:What burning out in her first profession taught Lydia about designing a sustainable businessThe mindset shift that helps you ride the natural ups and downs of businessWhy having more “tools in your toolbox” changes how you experience the rollercoaster of entrepreneurshipWhat it actually looks like to build a business with clear boundariesLearn more about Lydia Savramis:RTL Productions: http://hellortlpro.comInstagram: @rtlpro Resources:Grab the first chapter of my new book Scale Solo: scalesolobook.comGrab a copy of my book: Badass Your Brand - https://www.badassyourbrand.com/Program: No BS Mastery: https://join.nobsmastery.com/masteryProgram: No BS Agency Mastery: https://join.nobsmastery.com/agency-masteryNo BS Clients Lab: https://nobsclientslab.com/The Price to Freedom Calculator™ - http://nobsmastery.com/price
