The Adventures of Pinocchio is a classic children's novel by Italian author Carlo Collodi, translated by Carol della Chiesa. It follows the mischievous adventures of Pinocchio, an animated marionette, and his poor father, the woodcarver Geppetto. Originally published in serial form between 1881 and 1883, it was completed as a book in February 1883. The story has spawned many derivative works, including Disney's 1940 animated film, and popularized the idea of a liar's nose growing long.
