Ashdown Radio

Ashdown Radio is a community radio station based in East Sussex, broadcasting from transmitters in Uckfield and Crowborough. Launched in its current form on April 1, 2022, the station initially started as Uckfield FM in the summer of 2003, co-founded by Mike Skinner, Gary King, Paddy Rea, and Alan French. Throughout its history, it has been a vital source of local news and entertainment, with an array of guests ranging from local organization representatives to celebrities like Dame Beryl Grey, and Henry Blofeld, among others​​. The station began by operating under a 28-day restricted service license each year from 2003 to 2009, which allowed it to broadcast during the summer months in support of the Uckfield Festival. In 2010, it secured a full-time license to broadcast, marking the occasion with a launch at 1:05 pm on July 1, 2010, to align with their frequency of 105 FM​​. As of 2023, listeners can tune into Ashdown Radio via their traditional FM frequencies, 105.0 MHz in Uckfield and 94.7 MHz in Crowborough, or listen live online through their official website or mobile app, making the station accessible to a wide audience in East Sussex and beyond​​. Over the years, Ashdown Radio has seen a few changes in management and location. After moving to Bird in Eye Farm in 2007, it continued to expand, reaching out to the nearby town of Crowborough in 2022​​. The station also rebranded from Uckfield FM to Ashdown Radio in 2022 to reflect this larger coverage area​​.
